  • I LOVE this song.

It reminds me of my time in England with my husband before he passed away. I love the Piss-Take-ie-ness lol

  • The brilliance of the lyrics almost drown out how very good the music is. Perfect music starts here.

  • Cold War Disco. This is what it was all about in 1981.I was 14 when this came out I still love it and the look of it.I have the Lp still and the CD for the car..Why the Hell not??The Baby boomers can keep their Fleetwood Mac crap.

  • I never get tired of this song, it´s so great....

  • never looses it's IMPACT..!

  • Fucking FIERCE!

  • I knew if Moby added this to his playlist than how awesome this song can be.

  • lYRICS LIKE XTC PUSHING BOUNDRIES WAY BACK WHEN AWSOME

  • Very left wing from a different era, the CND No Cruise etc. Get past the politics and Heaven 17 still come up fresh! Timeless music from a still excellent band. Thanks for posting.

  • All irregularities will be handled by the forces controlling each dimension. Transuranic heavy elements may not be used where there is life. Medium atomic weights are available: Gold, Lead, Copper, Jet, Diamond, Radium, Sapphire, Silver and Steel. Sapphire and Steel have been assigned

  • @s3xyelf may i ask what the opening monologue of sapphire & steel have to do with this

or am i missing something lol now this brought back memories

  • I only ever got into the Human League 16 years later after the fact. I was straight up hardcore punk rock. However this song was about nuclear war and it was just as relevant as any anti-nuke punk anxiety song. Thus I got into synth-pop, then electronica. I recommend to anyone if they can find it on Youtube the BBC: "Young Guns" TV show that talks about how the Heaven 17, Human League and how one became the other.

  • A song title like this would seriously need a second thought nowadays lol

  • 8o this tihs most amesing yeras in earth

  • still listen to my vinyl copy of this...fucken love it !

  • Who did the excellent Black & White filming for the Video?

  • q grande som e boas letras !

  • glenn gregory's head would make a great bust

  • Even though they're from the wrong side of the Pennines can't help but love 'em to death. Check out the stuff with La Roux - ace.

  • this is one of thoes songs that you wantto go on and on and feel empty when it stops.

  • The done the whole Penthouse album live in Glasgow...and they nailed it fantastic. Very underrated

  • @dinnadoit Glasgow!? When was this, why didn't I hear about this?

  • @EManic29 Don't know how you never heard , they were never off the telly, and it must have been in every paper.

oh and sorry for the 3 month late with reply

  • Just been to see em at The Ritz...Manchester...and...wow...they still rule!!!!

  • this takes me back thanks for posting video

  • HEY! there's no need to debate

Its time to designate your fate

Take the m out of m.a.d.

    Lets all make a bomb!

  • Heaven 17 is a more musically trained group than The Human League, Martin, Ian & Glenn are real musicians, with not only electro roots, but also jazz & soul training. Unfortunately Phil Oakey Once was an obnoxiuos moron who fired martin ware and Ian Craig from the League, without knowing even how to program a synth. He rose HL from ashes, But No he wasn't the band's genius!!, although i recognize he has become a great musician & programmer.

  • This does sound very much like The Human League....I think Phil Oakey et al left behind the true talent of the Human League when the band split...This track and video truly encompass the eighties for me...the electronic vibe....the rising awareness of the nuclear threat....the eighties attitude and slick fashion....work...money...be competative and play hard....if the bomb doesn't drop too soon........

  • Onone hand it's very sad that these two supergroups were once one and then parted... but... had it not happened, than who kows what might have (not) happened...

The Human League would not have looked for Joanne and Suzanne... and Heaven 17 would not have happened at all...

Still... Penthouse and Pavement is my FAVE Heaven17 album... electro and all chromeplated and yet a lot of funky elements... cool stuff.

  • M... Love it.

  • both band were brill ,reproduction and this album very very good

  • who the fuck put down thumbs for this? what a twat?!?!?!?

  • @ayews it was the shit that complained about phil's hair in open your heart

  • @sonicshadowsilver06

What has (s)he got to moan about? Probably has got hair that looks like a dollop of backcombed pubic hair...

    Jealousy is an ugly thing!

  • @ayews

    Hear, hear!

  • @ayews

    Phil Oakey

  • Ah yeah, I do like this but the original single B side is less funky, kinda much more sinister. Really good. Would love someone to post it. Saw them in Dublin a couple of months ago, and they still have it!!!

  • Eh, with all due respect this is the dance version. Again, anyone got the original version. Thank you .

  • Anyone got the original version of this??? The B side of Come Live with Me single.

    the doodlepol

  • class, thanks for posting this up

    anymore from this album ????

  • this sounds like it was written when heaven 17 used to be the Human League

  • Had the original line up stayed together this would have appeared on the follow up to Travelogue.

  • @electrozaps

Yes, I agree it's a shame that Martyn Ware, Ian Craig Marsh and Phil Oakey had to go their seperate ways. I think had they stayed together they could have come up with material which would have given them the success they so desperatly wanted

  • @electrozaps man you learn somthing eveyday didnt know 17 and league were in the same band thanx

  • @electrozaps how do you know that?

  • @whyshouldI303 You're right!. The Penthouse & Pavement album is clearly divided in two parts. The A-side is material produced after they split , and the B- side is material composed while they still were with Phil Oakey.

  • @whyshouldI303 Good ears.

  • @whyshouldI303

I agree, it has that sound

  • Great! Simply great! I really love 1980s New Wave music!!!!!

  • that was when live was worth living not that bloody sh.... nowadays

  • Man, I miss the early 1980's British music invasion. Party times back then.

  • Thank you so much for posting this, I have been dying to hear this, it was my favourite and my L Ps are worn out, it hit me right in the chest just to hear it again and now I'm going to grin all day. xx

  • Pure class, so many memories and doesn't Glen sound so much like Phil Oakey on this track?...........well, I think so anyway

  • fab video,i have been wanting to see this for ages.Saw them in Wolverhampton in Dec 08.They made my teens and formed my musical taste to the day!

  • Sheffield, the sound of my home town !

  • Take one hundred scientists or more

Place in a room and lock the door

Let them confer for half their lives

Unlock the door, go in and see

What they have made for you and me

A brand new toy to idolize !

    YES !
