  • To everyone considering tanning or is actively participating in it, you are making the wrong decision. You may look beautiful to yourself on the outside, but you are really putting yourself in grave danger. My mother was an active tanner for years but that came to a stop. She was diagnosed with Melenoma Skin Cancer, with her doctor giving the probable cause as her tanning history. I lost her when I was seven. Be smart!

  • funny how allll the girls that would DREAM of tanning or fucking pasty as hell and are white girls.... funny how that works right?

  • @BriannMelo I'd rather be "pasty" than shitskinned .

  • @billyboy222ify clearly you didnt understand the statement.

  • And FYI...I NEVER burned in a tanning bed. Never. Thats is why I would do it and get my "healthy golden glow" that is now CANCER ALL OVER MY FACE. I ruined my skin forever.

  • @KelsoTeam77 I am so sorry. Please become an advocate for anti-tanning bed legislation. SunAWARE has five simple steps for skin cancer prevention and detection. Teach these steps to your family and community. Help someone else avoid this painful experience. I am wishing you all the best. M. Barrow

  • For all the "pro" tanning bed people out there, I did tanning beds for years and now I have skin cancer on my FACE. I would give it ALL back to be SUPER PALE and HEALTHY. Now I am looking at getting cut up with scars on my face and I am only in my early 30's!!!!

  • you should do your homework, lack of UV exposure impairs a persons auto immune system. Low Vitamin D levels, increases a person's risk of diabetes, heart disease, all forms of cancer, MS, depression, etc. Vitamin D is made when UV exposure causes our body to convert cholesterol in our skin through a process in the pancreas into Vitamin D. One session in a tanning bed, stimulates the body to produce 10,000 IU of Vitamin D! Natural Vitamin D is never toxic.

  • Number 6 says it all. I go tanning and im a man, but men do it too. I do it before summer hits so i can keep some color on me. I do stand up, I do not think it is that bad.

  • You should of showed the final destination 3 tanning salon sene. That keep me away from tanning beds. I will never get in to one after I watch that movie. Every time I see a tanning bed I think of eternal hell.

  • What is wrong with using a tanning bed?

  • Over the last few years, I have challanged local & National news/media, as well as Dermatologists, Doctors, or anyone to show me any person or any study that can prove that anyone that has/had skin cancer that has tanned in moderation, but NEVER BURNED. NOBODY has been able to meet my challange. If tanning caused skin cancer, I would have thousands of responses to my challenge. My challange is still on! Find me some proof if you are going to spew negative info about tanning.

  • @truthabouttanning What do you mean never burned? A tan is a burn hunny. Second, I went once, for 3 minutes and burned. Many cases of skin cancer deaths under 30 have been in people who used tanning beds.

  • @surfacerising

I agree that a burn can turn into a tan (not the smart way to get a tan), but all tans are not burns. A tan is natural protection from sunburn (which is bad for you). The human body was designed to absorb UV to make vitamin D (which is needed for optimum health). The natural color of your skin dictates how much UV you should absorb. If you have burned you have absorbed too much. Moderation is the key to healthy tanning.

Again....show me proof before spewing propanda.

  • @truthabouttanning Really? I've never had a tan, Just burns. Maybe a burn can become a tan, but ALL tans are burns, and damaging. As well, 5 minutes in a bed is equal to 30 in the sun. I can't handle more than 25 in the regular sun without burning. So that would equal out to about 3 minutes equaling out to your 15 needed minutes a day in the sun for vitamin d. Everything after that is the danger zone. Girls that spend half an hour in a bed, is equal to an hour and a half in a bed.

  • But whatever, be ignorant towards the dangers and see what will happen to you.

  • The Sun scare lobby uses the melanoma numbers in a way that seem alarming, but the deaths from all skin cancers put together is .000011% (numbers from the World Health Organization). Skin cancer is at the bottom of their list of deaths from all cancers. They show that you are 336,364 times more likely to die from diarreah than any form of skin cancer. You still want to avoid skin cancer by avoiding burning, but the anti tanning industries sensationalize this disease for their profit.

  • @truthabouttanning There is NO SUCH THING as an "anti tanning industry", .. . only a pro tanning industry ( Copertone, taning salons, bed manufacturers, .. etcetera ). HOW would anybody make profit by people not tanning ?

  • Tanning is not dangerous, it is completely natural. Burning is dangerous. The sun has been out for millions of years. People are indoors more often now, so when they go out they burn (due to no natural protection of a tan). This is what puts people at risk for skin cancer. Most living things need sunshine to survive. Proven fact: sunshine causes skin to produce vitamin D. Proven fact: vitamin D deficiency is a risk for skin cancer (as well as many other cancers & diseases).

  • Tanning is out. Not only is tanning dangerous and causes cancer, but it is not in any more. The tanning industry is a dying industry and any positive comments on tanning is from people who are in the industry and are grasping at straws to get whatever they can out of a dying industry.

  • Hey...I watch Jersey Shore...doesnt mean I want a tan, but comon...haha...I love watching some peeps fight over who fucked who! Its the point of the show!!

    a) I am not stupid. I think & research for myself. I do not get my education from the media or You Tube!

b)I know that tanning in moderation is good for you (mentally & physically)

    c) I know that a tan is natural & protects you from sunburn

    d) I know that sunburn can put you at risk for skin cancer (but does not cause skin cancer or everyone who ever had a burn would have skin cancer)

    e) I agree with the theory that if c & d are correct, then a tan obviously protects me from skin cancer

  • @truthabouttanning people who burn easily are far more likely to get skin cancer. tanning doesnt protect you from getting sunburnt, it just means that you did not get burnt. but tanning is still bad. of course our skin will get a bit tan from natural sunlight, but if you do tan as to the point that your brown, its just as bad as atanning bed. please, dont put your self at risk of cancer, the chemotherapy and radiation is not worth it. im sure youre not stupid, but sunscreens the way to go <3

  • @SkateAndCheerGirl A tan absolutely IS protection from sunburn. I can't believe that someone wouldn't know that. I realize the huge sunscreen industry has brainwashed people for money, but some things are obvious just from living life. Go outside white = burn. Go outside tan= less chance of burning. Use common sense by NOT going outside until you burn. MODERATION is the key. Only use sunscreen if you have to be out longer than is safe. Sunscreen is full of chemicals proven to cause skin cancer.

  • #2 according to the World Health Organization you have a .000011% (1.1 in 100,000) chance of DYING of any skin cancer, whether you use a tanning bed or not. The survival rate for Melanoma is 80% for men & 90% for women. If tanning increases your chances by 75% (of merely contracting Melonoma) then your chance would be slim to none (you can do the math!). According to studies, they would be skin type #1, which should NOT be tanning (maybe type #2, which should be tanning in extreme moderation)!

  • #4 Tan in a controlled environment (set by FDA) according to skin type & exposure schedule (outside - no control = possible burn & skin damage)

#3 They failed to add that baby oil is in the same World Health Organization danger class as tanning beds!

#2 not enough room for this info! next comment!

  • #10: outlaw tanning? stop people from protecting the skin from sunburn so they will burn & increase the chance of skin cancer?

#9: tax tanning for health care bill? better to spend money on drugs to cure the diseases from lack of sunshine

#7 & #8: most stars live in sunny locales & are tan (& beautiful)

#6 not even familiar with it!

#5 50 years in AZ sun & tanning beds & still have guys 1/2 my age hitting on me. Guess it didn't age me!

#4 outta room! see next comment!
