Very Nice !! Just don't leave it idle very long.....better yet..NEVER, un less you can fast idle it at least at 1200 rpms. 2 cycle detroits were notorious for
"shellacing" the cylinder walls due to low cylinder tempuratures from excessive
low idle speeds....they "like" to be worked hard...and at High rpms....there's a reason that the marine versions were set at 2500 to 3000 rpms.
We turn the 12v71 in the sled puller at 4600 rpms.
@stevesai yea it is hard to get even simple things like tyres and sealed beam headlights, ther are no 2 stroke detroit diesels here that i know off,my trucks are parked at the moment waiting for time and money to restore them,

@poclainerf well it is a beautiful truck hope u can get parts to restore them soon so u can post a new video ! how the hell did u get one of those over there in the first place ? lol
@poclainerf There are new round glass headlights looking as orginals, I think they are sold in motonet. I can ask my friend where he bought them for his 60`s cadillac
Sounds nice ! i saw what looks like a few bales of hay out side all stacked up . sure is a nice looking k wopper , as some of us call them. wish you were closer in case you would need a hand on a engine rebuild or something simple. CHEERS !
It's a wonder a friend of mine from Monticello, NY, USA hasn't dropped by to view this! He has exactly the same truck - albeit a year later than this - and all the specs are exact copies from your K100 to his!
That may be true once the Scandia warms up a bit. But the Detroit being a 2-cycle will outperform the 4-cycle Scandia when cold. That's why American fire departments liked the 2-cycle Detroits so much, until they were discontinued due to the 1993 EPA emissions standards.
Man those tanks ever shiny! They get very dirty, very fast. I work with a company in Ontario, Canada that polishes rigs and I'm impressed. You do the work yourself?
Good looking aerodyne, if you could have imported one from Australia it would be factory right hand drive !
They ride a bit rough but if you fit 3-leaf parabolic springs on the front it improves it no end. You're halfway there cos I see you got airglide 100 on the rears. Also a good Isri or KAB seat helps.
Used to have a 8V92 myself, not many around these days in oz, used to be very popular.
hi gm16v149 yea thought about importing one from Australia but they are a worked a lot harder more weight and big milage.also i think they are a different model is it a k104.the truck`s seem to be a lot more expensive.not any detroits in ireland !!
The Aussie ones are built very strong compared to the U.S. ones, i.e, thicker chassis rails, often double rail, more cross members, stronger cabs etc. They are a helluva lot more expensive than a U.S import but at least they're factory RHD with the proper engine tunnel etc.
There's not so many 2-cycle Detroits around these days but you still see them. The 4-cycle S60 is popular here. Plenty of big 2-cycle in the mines, 16V149s, 12V149s etc. I bet that KW is a head-turner where you live.
Wow, a cabover Kenny in Ireland!! Drove a few in OZ before I moved here to UK. It would nearly be worth the expense to pop over to Kerry to hear that sweet Detroit sound., have you got the jakes working? Top video
hi gedebage,my kenworth was in london for 6 month`s prior to shipping to ireland,it has jakes but they are not as loud as on my w900a with cat 3406a.the truck is parked at the moment.need to spray it an restore to original.
why have erf, foden, scammell, leyland, aec, seedon, atkinson all gone skint, because they where rubbish,i see you use an american youtube name cummins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i never would think it would be in ireland i thought scania was theonly trucks overthere. it is a bbeutiful truck . say hay to my ansesters they will be in a pub tipping back a few
hi cjtllc, yea i run a v8 scania the kw`s just for fun the scania does the real work !you want to take a trip over here and have a few pint`s with us.cheers
I love this truck! My father and I use to have a 74 Kenworth COE K100. It had a 335 Cummins with a 13 spd in it. I wish I could find that truck. Great vid by the way!
