well many man act pretty offended when called or assumed as gay in everyday life; "being-possibly-gay" became anything but natural (or at least neutral), as in my opinion, it should be. Once I even lost a good friend, calling him "gay" (pretty normal among boys in adolescence here) as insult, but he was really gay and so he was pretty offended by "gay" used as an insult, sadly i never noticed that. In my experience, many adult react just as huffy as an adolescent.
