  • I'm just a kid and I know 10 spy planes and I only herd of them last year when i seen the sr71 blackbird in real life

  • @DAVET0NE I was going to say the same thing! I think Henry Mancini's "Baby Elephant Walk" is more fitting.

This aircraft appears to have a problem with unintended Dutch Roll, which may not be a problem given its requirements, but it's probably not much fun to ride in.

  • I like these vehicles, there is some serious potential in hybrid lift technologies.

  • The obvious problem with it in a military setting is that it LOOKS like an easier target than a transport plane - so more people will shoot at it.

  • @neverfearchrisishere The OBVIOUS reality if you read the details is that the LTA will fly ABOVE visual detection and small-arms fire range and not be "seen" to be "hit" in the first place.

  • It's nice technology, though obviously needs streamlining for safety, functionality, and cost.

  • wtf

  • lol the music does not fit this aircraft

  • The next generation Goodyear Blimp!!!

  • I WANT ONE!!!

  • interesting concept ...

  • Put some 50 cal machine guns on it give it some A.I. and youre on your way to a Terminator hunter killer ready to wipe out the human race.

  • that thing is like a fuckin cloud

  • that thing is like a fuckin coud

  • The cutest aircraft ever produced by Lockheed. It is very very cute.

  • How can one build such a thing

  • please tell me what the purpose of this is i love skunk works but i dont fully understand this

  • ... mother of GOddddd!!

  • Hehe it looks like a fat elephant :)

  • @mylucasd just deflate it, it'll probably got in your broom closet

  • weapon of mass destruction. lol

  • what does it use as wheels or what is on that 4 giant "legs" on bottom side ? :O

  • wonderful hovercraft, gives new meaning to TICK That FLY

  • I think it actually looks kinda cute somehow lol!

  • I'd love to work on and around one of these things if they're ever launched. Does anyone know about how to get a job with whoever's using these things?

  • In the unlikely event of a water landing, this aircraft may be used as a flotation device!

  • Y I K E ss..!! It's my ex-wife !!

  • Man, that thing is rockin'. Looks like at least 5 feet of sway there.

  • Lockheed Skunkworks is in Palmdale not Edwards or Area 51 Edwards is north a ways

  • @Braindeadferd what is the military application for this?

  • i think ufos are like highley compresed ballons.

  • It's the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man!!!

  • Its like an elephant that flies.

  • that's very beatiful.....I will buy one for me,

but I dont know where I gonna put it...

  • Damn! Those Lockheed boys are cool!

I hope I live long enough to see the return of the great airships.

  • One less hospital built in America. One more hospital shut down in America. America has the highest infant mortality rate in the Western World.

That thing won't benefit a soul. In fact, the money spent on such a project might have given many a man a job... But then again, one less hospital.

  • @katey1dog Jobs=money. Money=healthier. Healthier>less hospitalizations Less hospitalizations>>less hospitals necessary.

  • @katey1dog erm... private company

  • So how much or our tax dollars did it take to build this damn thing?

  • @winterocks Probably will probably cost less than 21 days worth of drone/aircraft operations. Read the description dumbass.

  • during late 50s in soviet union they drew up a plan of nuclear powered airship that could transport up to a battalion with a whole complement of equipment

  • @tbilisicentral Yeah but that was under a dictatorship - who knows what the forces were in effect on that project!

  • great, but looks unstable...

  • FUNCTION matters, looks don't. Watch Video Response /watch?v=oqmqgL59sXk

  • Looks like a california sunfish haha

  • That's cool...I wanna buy me one of those motherfuckers!

  • It's just a big fuckin' weather balloon...goddammit!

  • FUNCTION matters, looks don't. Watch Video Response /watch?v=oqmqgL59sXk

  • blimp

  • WTF!

  • Pink Floyd!

  • Anybody seen the lockheed martin commercials recently. Why would they have commercials for the public to see if they sell to the government?

  • looking for investment, employees, and what every company needs.. attention.

  • Shines in the sky like a cloud, beautiful, great.

  • TEST model, not sky camouflaged for war. First have to impress by being VISIBLE; that's why some planes are painted in bright colors etc. I don't approve that approach but it's done.

  • Shines in the sky like a cloud, beautiful, great.

  • TEST model, not sky camouflaged for war. First have to impress by being VISIBLE; that's why some planes are painted in bright colors etc. I don't approve that approach but it's done.

  • @dynmicpara They can only paint it white because any other color will burn off when it goes supersonic.

  • I love this. Yes, it's a flying pig, but I love that too. It also reminds me of the Flying HQ of SHEILD in the Jim Steranko Marvel comic books! I am such a Darpa fan. If I didn't have a day job I'd go work for them.

  • Pink Floyd needed this for their outdoor concerts! *LOL

  • haha "skunk works".... lemme guess that department is right next to 'brownie development' just below the 'thai fighter' program?

  • You guessed wrong. Serious people doing serious research; you should look into the concept some time.

  • I'm sure they have time for a quick joke about drugs.

Looks like two airships glued together to me. I also think all that money would be better spent on space programs rather than giant inflatable pigs. Anyway, didn't the US shoot down the Hindenburg just to garner support for their new transatlantic commercial aircraft? Now they've changed their minds?

  • Airships have considerable potential. They are extremely energy-efficient for moving heavy loads. Modern lightweight materials and non-flammable helium along with the potential of solar power make them well worth considering. Their greatest potential, IMO would be in the private sector. Having had a chanced to ride in the Goodyear blimp, I am sold on it's potential as a cruise ship for the sky.

  • @dynmicpara

    Absolutely..and thanks for the support

  • @dynmicpara agreed, these other people obviously don't realise how great this is or the future of aircraft. I saw no jet engine did you? Let's see, so less noise at airports, less fuel, less polution likely, all things people complain about most on current aircraft. Likely less cost to build, then with less expensive fuel, possibly lower flight costs, sounds like win win and people making fun of it.

  • @dynmicpara Yeah, but it's a good thing to be underestimated in the tech department. I talked to a guy the other day who was seriously convinced the Eurofighter was better than the F22 Raptor. I tried to explain to him that this was impossible, but he went into a conniption fit, lashing out with every kind of antiAmerican epithet....I just wanted to talk about planes! Gotta laugh or else you'll cry!

  • @dynmicpara Do you work for the program by chance or are you just another fanatic?

  • @equitably No connection to the program; I'm a professional who wants PROGRESS in military methodology.

  • What kind of fool has never heard of skunk works?

  • @Energonorama You could say that "Skunk Works" helped save us from obliteration in October of 62'.

  • @Energonorama HOWED YOU KNOW!!! THAT INFORMATION IS CLASSIFIED

  • Sighhh.... KIDS these days.

  • @Energonorama

about 50% of what people call UFO's come out of skunkworks. Their motto "you dream it, we build it". They have no doubt conquered the art of antigravity.

  • @Energonorama Pay a visit to the Smithsonian air and space museun on Dulles. It has plenty of Skunkworks planes on show, even with the insignia.

  • @Energonorama These guys pretty much invented the SR-71.

  • Looks like a flying pig

  • tipo zeppelin (tanto tipo....)

  • these airships are lots better than every elese we got in terms of human/earth health... maybe slower but for fucks sake...stfu

  • Listen, my design is much better. The best in fact. Its "zeppelin hybrid" if you care to search youtube since I cannot link my site or my vid here. I cant believe these guys with all their funding havent managed to figure out what I have figured out. It really should be my design that gets the funding and none other.

  • URGENT PAKISTAN ARMY

I am witting to the state department to use this blimp to monitor Taliban movement at the Pak- Afghan border. Does anyone think this will work???? Taliban resupplies can be seriously thwarted if a blimp like this can monitor their activities

  • A bigger model would be interesting as an air carrier or air hotel.

  • I want one so I can invade a micronation

  • I like it, but the music is lame.

    Banjo music is more fitting.

It looks like Cartman from the front.

  • I'll be darned, Pigs can fly!!

  • =)))))))))

    Zeppelin 2001

    no good

  • LTA vehicles have been massively held back since the hindenburg crash obliterated public faith in the system the fact that she was filed with the wrong gas due to certain embargo's on germany at the time dont matter joe public always imagime these smashing into the groung in the flames what a shame for a very green technology

  • @jaydabee THANK YOU!!!! I want these airships to come back!

  • we dont like LTA because its slow! also there is a small market for something like a hindenburg these days with jumbo jets and mass travel, also germany could not source helium, because all the helium was found in Texas

  • it was actual the coating keeping the hydrogen in but the Hindenburg did not have the color of burning hydrogen.

and it lit because of a spark from electro static so it wast the hydrogen it was the landing crew not grounding themselves before touching the Hindenburg

  • green? HUMANS MAY BE THE ONLY SO CALLED GREEN

  • "Massively held back". Totally agree, failure of imagination. Imagine what could be with current tech. Cities in the sky.

  • yes yes yes this is true hover dynamics at work

    just like the 5th element

this is what our cars will do in the future

  • Pretty awesome. Too bad it looks like a fat chick on roller skates.

  • Well it's looks aren't that great but the engines are quite innovative.

  • ...what......what is this....? the epic music...it was not necessary...

  • lmao!!!!!! the epic music lmao!!!!

  • it looks useless lol wat can u do with it its to big

  • READ THE VIDEO DESCRIPTION.

  • I'd like to see what ARVs we've been developing since the 1980's. ARV stands for Alien Reproductive Vehicle. I bet they're still trying to figure out how the ET technology works.

  • Now we just need to develop the Persuadertron.

  • Skunk Works is not located at Edwards AFB

  • True, I hope I didn't imply they were located there...but you must admit it is one of their "stomping grounds" ie; places where they test.

  • Epic

  • wht his?

  • I saw un-explainable things while I was in the military. I don't believe in aliens. Kinda religious, but some stuff was really out there.

  • So you want to use blimps for tansportation? good idea.

  • I reckon these airships must be the protagonist of many UFO incidents around the country.

  • Comment removed

  • Great points!

  • so... whats the point... blimbs fly so what.?

  • Lockheed Martin FTW!

  • What is the purpose of this design? I can't see a reason for it.

  • i want one!

  • Lockheed Martin is one of America's greatest companies!!

USA! USA!! Our troops are the BEST!

  • As far as I know this tookplace at the "Palmdale Air Force Plant 42". This Area belongs to Lockheed Martin...

  • yes, thats true.

  • Another winner from Zorin Corporation!

  • cooooooooooooooooooooooollllll

  • Pretty Fuckin Cool

  • I can't help myself, it somehow looks like a flying butt. A giant, white, flying butt with its own dramatic theme music. It just doesn't get any better than this.

  • LZ-132!

  • This is the next generation "George Foreman Grill " !!! lol!

  • Ha! That`s the air ball I lost ages ago! My god, it had grown so much since my childhood! Now he`s a big man, workin for people in where?.. edwards? That`s the future for an air ball one can only wish *sobs*

  • It's CUTE!

  • its true allamericandude and they got MANBEARPIG

  • What's the name of that song?

  • Where was the test flight? Edwards AFB

    or maybe... Area51

  • Lockheed's skunk works are at Edwards. If it were at area 51, it wouldn't be filmed (and if you reply saying that it's because they're holding aliens and UFOs, I'm going to reach through the Internet and smack you)

  • you wouldn't see it if it were skunk works either. skunk works is Lockheed's secret division.

  • skunkworks was bought out by lockheed, they're not a division. And since then Lockheed/Skunkworks has evened out in terms of the number of black project contracts they get.

  • Not really. It's just their advanced development facility. Sorta like an experimental division.

  • skunk works is not a "secret division" of lockheed. everything they're doing is open knowledge. if lockheed has any truly secret divisions/operations, we don't know about them. hence the term "secret"

  • it is skunk works look at the skunk works symbol on the tail

  • Negative. Skunk Works is down in Palmdale, about 40 miles away from Edwards, and about a mile away from Phantom Works. There is a lot of collaboration between the base and Lockheed, but the Skunk Works are definitely not part of the base.

  • A very American response.

  • oo is it because they are holding aliens and UFO's?

  • OMG Mc Donald's reached Lockheed martin !! lol

  • For some reason that vehicle reminds me of the film, "Flight of the Navigator". No wonder so many people in the states claim to have seen UFO's. If I saw something like that flying at night I'd think it was ET or something.

  • i believe this blimp is used for offshore patrol; cheaper to operate and stays in the air far longer than conventional aircraft.

  • Yeah in the 50s and 60s the USN had a fleet of non rigid blimps for just that, they also had pretty good anti sub capabilities.

  • Can anyone tell me the name of this song?

  • That thing kind of looks like a spaceship from the movie Wall-E. ...Ya know, the one with all the fatsos in it. Like a big, lumpy, 3-cheeked, rubber butt blimp from outer space. XP

  • OOO is that the name of it? I saw this before on the real website before, but back than it was just a concept. For those who don't know, it's like a concept Zeppelin. Germany has started the Zeppelin Revolution all over again by creating the Zeppelin NT. This is like the company based one, it uses 2 motors on the outside to move around and 4 hovercraft fans to move along the ground, and I think it has 2 or 4 envelopes of helium or hydrogen to float up into the air. It's like a blimp.

  • wtf is that

  • what the fuck was that?

  • that guy sucks at driving blimps haha... it was all wobbly and what not

  • to big, they must build it smaller and more ballanced.Wind can cause( if it is to light) problems. A good start but are neded more rotors around not just bottom

  • This is new curve on an old technology. Wonder if they could use this kind of thing to ship freight. Think of all those trucks off the road, all that saved co2 and pollution, all those tires saved. One of these shipping dozens of trucks worth of freight silently, quickly and directly to the source. Or dropping aid into remote areas, transporting holidaymakers. Would love to see the costing fuel etc on this.

  • Excellent suction!

  • It looks like they stuffed the Michelain Man. Imagine the UFO sightings THIS could inspire.Hello, Air Force; I just saw this big flying ass! And coryw25, maybe they could use this to better distribute food to those starving people. But they may not want to eat anything dropping out of something that looks like a butt, that's the only drawback.

  • cool concept but design looks like a flying butt.

  • there are children dying in the world because of hunger, but still, this is more of a priority to fund...

  • how effecint it something like this campared to plane

  • this is cool but what could it be used for??

  • think of it a a "heavy lifter" kinda like a blimp...it's use would be limited though

  • "heavy lifter"? That thing seemed like it couldn't carry very much at all.

  • It's the Protoss Carrier from Starcraft!

    Just kidding. :P

  • That has to be fun as SHIT to fly around!!

  • the U.S. BABY HUEY

  • its like the obese child of the millitary world

    xD

  • I whant one of this to my school prom ball!

  • lmfao, funniest thing ever.

  • Looks like a mix of hoover craft and zeppelin.

  • flying PIG-791

  • What the hell is that thing. Interesting but how is it useful?

  • go to the web pages listed in the video description

  • i wonder how efficient this is.the Hindenburg crossed theAtlantic on$500 of Diesel fuel.

  • Im sorry, I love aerospace technology exploration and think this is great footage, but the music is just laughably incongruous with the material, -way too exciting. Redub this with Henry Mancinis Baby Elephant Walk and youve got a much better match.

  • gotta luv skunk works

  • someday we will have helicarriers......

  • its just a fast blimp?

  • THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!!!

  • That is so fricking cool!!

  • Well that's a beast of an aircraft, at least it can take off and land on its own...albeit wobbling.

  • Dancing hippo!

  • how cool

  • mankind and its engineering....brilliant

  • nd den dey wonda why ppl confuse dat shit w| ufos! lmao

  • WTF how could that lift of

  • sweet
