Horrifying what's happened to America since then -- back toward savagery to some degree. Just know that every time you buy music, or watch a tv show or sporting event, that's considered extreme, hard-core/kick-ass/freaky/etc, you're seeing this decline. We go right on repeating the mistakes of great civilizations gone by. But of course, I'm a bigot.
@dobb673- i know its been 3mos, but i agree. keep saying the same thing myself. the more humanity progresses w/technology, the more stagnated or further we regress socially. we CHOOSE 2 ignore past mistakes. i find myself screaming at times. have u ever met ppl, that are WILLFULLY & stubbornly ignorant? so much so, they cant tell the difference between stupid & ignorant, stubbornly refusing 2 try?! with them, its like choosing the red & blue pill(?), in the matrix. guess which 1 they'll choose?
I'm sure the school admissions lady has heard much "odder" names than Buffy, e.g., Shaniqua, LaTrelle, Terdell, Latoya, Jacquizz, LeBron, Kobe, Shaquille, LaMichael and Bovatrecia.
This was one of my favorite shows growing up and I never knew that the actress that played buffy would also be on one of my favorite tv shows when I'm a teenager and on one of my favorite movies when I was little also. She's such a great actress!!!!
Ah..it was all so civilised back then. No foul language, sexual references or unpalatable themes or offense. I remember this show from my childhood. There may have been a certain naivety in the '60's but it was generally an innocent time to spend one's early years
Thank you for posting. Shows like this gave those of us growing up in violent, neglectful homes something to dream about. Now a parent myself, my husband (not abused) & I provided this kind of loving, supportive, environment for our own precious children. It's unfortunate that Anissa didn't receive the emotional guidance she needed. A life ended too soon. However, Heaven welcomed her & this show, her gift to the world, continues to allow her spirit to shine. Best Wishes & Peace to ALL.
Am I the only one shocked at seeing her raise her dress?! Holy crap, I can't believe she raised her dress up past her beltline. Uh, I'm not a perv, and it's just a little kids bottom, but they TOLD her to do that and ther's something wrong with that. Did they tell her to not wear panties - how would her wearing something underneath detract from anything but the grossest intentis. I wonder if they did another episode with the older daughter doing the same thing registering for college.
That was the style back in the mid 60's-early 70's, girls didnt wear any undergarmets under their clothing. Keep in mind this was a very different era, the internet wasn't invented, and there werent much pedophiles around.Besides you really can't see anything, and if you noticed she put her hands on her front. If you think thats bad, on season 2 of the brady bunch, Cindy's skirt came all the way up when she was sitting on Carols lap, and you could see her entire bare front.
@Markhamdude4life why do you seem to think that girls wore no undergarments in the 60's and 70's? I was born in 1966 and from my earliest memories i can certainly recall wearing undergarments. My typical undergarments of that time were panties and a t-shirt or sleeveless vest. If wearing a dress or skirt, then panties and slip.
LOL I loved this show too!!!!! What happened to all the good shows like when we were little. Now all so see is stupid sh*t . Barney -Ha , I hated that myself ....never mind let my kids watch it.{ tic tac toe 3 in a row Barney got shot by a GI Joe !! haha my son taught me that one !!!...}
iloved the show growing up wheniwas 16 ihad my appendox out itold the dr ifihaveto havemy appendoix out so does mrs beasley and he puta patch onherlol
I looked just like this girl when I was young and when I was 3 was dubbed with the nick name Buffy, to this day that's all people call me, most wouldn't know I had another name. I even had the Miss Beasley doll lol.
what show is this?? it looks cute....i love the part where the butler says' these children were born madam they did not pop out of the ground'...lol! i mean i totally agree with him...why the hell do i have to PROVE that 2 ppl were born when they are standing right in front of u!!!
@TheNeonAngel This is a show called "Family Affair" that came out in 1968, and it was very popular, and I loved the show, and I am about the same age as the twins, Buffy and Jody. Brian Keith, played their Uncle Bill or as Jody calls him "Unca Beowl", (lol) and he was in the original "Parent Trap" with Haley Mills and Maureen O'Hara. This show was and still is a beautiful show, and it always tugs at the heart and puts a smile on your face. Thanks for posting!
@TheNeonAngel yea but people need to be documented, i mean people have ID for a reason, like having a drivers license not every1 can drive so u need to show ur license when pulled over its not to prove ur driving its to see if ur allowed to drive (a license shows this, it can take a few tries to pass the road test u dont just GET it)...also if u have a school ID u can get deals at stores and other places of business
Vaccinations?? The fucking government and their propaganda bullshit! My little mind did not realize it as a kid, but now it is blatant. Buffy was so cute, such a sad story of tragedy. And today Brittnay Murphy (Clueless movie) dies. Sad.
The shot of the front of the school is LeConte Jr. High, off of sunset and van ness in hollywood. Its sad to see the kids from then and to know what has happened to them :(
naw, she OD'd in 73-74...she was cremated and her ashes were , im not sure if I am using the right word, spread over the pacific ocean off of palos verdes in so. california
I wish I had a bachelor pad at 600 East 62nd Street and a live-in English butler that that I just called "French." That would be really cool. Never thought about it when I was little kid watching this.
Years ago a Club was exactly that. An exclusive spot for members with drinking, gambling, a "show", dancing, you name it. Eventually Clubs let in the public and featured "big name" acts, dancing, drinking, dinner etc. When this show aired Clubs were basically "Supper Clubs" with dinner, drinking, dancing (PG at best). By the mid 70s Club meant "Disco" with glitter balls, leisure suits, sex & drugs. Discos were the forerunners of the noisy drunken puke dens todays youth now know as "Clubs."

this is really bad, leaden. the complete series is on dvd, thought i'd check out some scenes. sebastian cabot is classic & keith was always serviceable, if nothing more, but this is d.o.a. i'd heard that the girl was especially cute but don't see it - i think you had to be there. that trash like this is available in its entirety makes it all the more grotesque that the heavies aren't even out of the starting-gate: fugitive, kojak, etc., etc. etc. fucked-up world.
How could anyone criticize such a sweet show? So what if it wasn't completely realistic? Very few shows are, then or now. Uncle Bill did projects all over the world. Being a confirmed bachelor who traveld so much, he met Mr. French along the way. He probably saw many butlers in Europe and didn't think it odd for a man living in a high rise apartment to have a butler. If you don't like Family Affair, don't watch it. Your mom isn't making you anymore. Watch some other show that's more your speed.
@fuckoes are u kidding? they show soooo much stuff in the media, all those reality shows and junk! and alot of "wardrobe malfunctions" and starlets getting out of cars w/out undies! lindsay lohan at the nick kids choice awards in 2006!
SO why does Sissy get to go to the posh school while buffy and jody go to plain old public school??? If he can afford a penthouse and a butler and dinner at '21', surely he can afford a better school for the twins???

That show was jinxed like Different Strokes.
I don't think any of the cast members had happy endings. Poor Buffy. That was a shock.
The Mr. French character was always strange to me. Why would Brian Keith's character need a butler ???
A housekeeper/nanny would have done the trick.
A full time butler? Fake. That's why I didn't like the show.
