  • wow this guy is a disgrace to our culture - anal sex?? wtf is up with that?!

He is right though about the early peak civilization..we haven't progresed much since then and its sad because we have brilliant academic minds and we dont lack in anything other than the will to exceed.

  • He's not saying it's true, he's saying there's a stereotype out there, and making a jest of that stereotype.

    It's called comedy. ;^)

  • my dog has his own dog, lol

  • I do have to say that we are not experts in Greek or Turkish cuisine - we do live concert & comedy videos. ;^) All I'm doing is posting what I find on the indicated web sites. (Check 'em out for yourself.)

However, if we ever do a cooking show, it looks like we can have a great panel debate with you guys and Jim Mendrinos about what constitutes a gyro!

In the meantime, thanks for watching!

  • &gyros are not sanwitches and are no where near related to souvlakis which is like a shishkabob with pieces of meat grilled on a stick seasoned with all the classic greek seasonings.

  • WOW its pretty obvious you are all not greek. when i said he isnt greek i didnt mean technically. He may be greek through his ansestors but he isnt a true greek.&for this debate you are all having gyro meat IS cooked on a vertically spit that rotates in order to get cooked as someone is cutting slabs of it off. those slabs are then put on a heated peta bread with lettuce tomato and tzatziki sauce. That was not quoted from wikipedia or whatever but it is all true. Ask any true greek

  • Why isnt he Greek, man?

With a name like Mendrinos , sounds pretty Greek to me lol

  • thats almost all correct. gyros dont traditionally have lettuce in them, that was added on to americanize them more. and yes, kebobs are similar to souvlakia. those are meat served on sticks in america, or in greece commonly they are served in a pita with fries inside aswell.

  • im sorry but he isnt greek. gyro? its γυρο my friend and they are no on sticks. thats souvlakia. nice try though.

  • He is Greek, actually.

Gyro meat is cooked on large, vertical sticks.

  • No,Gyro meat is not cooked on vertical sticks! That is Kebap, that you say....

Kebap is a Turkish food that came to Greece when the Ottomans invaded Greece 1453!!

  • Interesting.

From Wikipedia: "To make gyros, slices of meat are placed on a tall vertical spit, which turns in front of a source of heat. The rate of roasting can be adjusted by varying the strength of the heat and the distance between the heat and the meat, allowing the cook to adjust to varying rates of consumption. The meat is sliced vertically."

  • From whatscookingameric[dot]net: "Most food historians generally agree the name "gyro" and the current sandwich are both recent inventions originating in New York during the early 1970s. Gyros, as we know them today, are thought to have evolved from the traditional "Doner Kebab" of Turkey

A proper gyro is made with meat cut off a big cylinder of well-seasoned lamb or beef. This meat is cooked on a slowly rotating vertical spit or gyro, implying the circular spinning motion of a gyroscope."

  • From wisegeek[dot]com: "In Greece and surrounding countries, the term gyro sandwich may also refer to a similar sandwich called souvlaki. Greek restaurants in other countries tend to define gyro meat as a mixture of minced beef and lamb, while souvlaki is generally considered a marinated pork product. The lamb and/or beef used in a gyro sandwich is often pressed into a conical shape, then placed vertically on a spit rod for roasting."

  • terrible

  • hahaha.
