  • 3:00 what a instrument!!!! 0.0

  • Anyone know is this is on one of their albums? And if so, which one?

  • @Virtuallyjonathan Nevermind. I should have googled before I asked. Sorry.

  • Przejmujemy to polacy? xD

  • very impressive, the pronunciation needs a lot of work but the way they kept the melody intact without messing the original sound up too much is very good.

This version is very good =)

  • Good suggestion this performance my deutsche friends of course there are stupid americans some british trash and others trying to talk this down as usual but we know what kind of Karma is coming for them babykillers and terrorists.

The strange string instrument one is using there seems to be similar to one which was through the centuries and still is produced in Iceland and is called Langspil or Langspiel I guess in duetch in this case it seems to be combined with an electronic guitar like mix.

  • If youre icelandic this is to funny

  • What happened to Micha's arm anyway?

  • @Icaras666 He burnt it when they tested the Fire effects

  • It sounds nice, but his pronunciation is terrible.

  • Comment removed

  • Micha forgot his watch on his hand =)

  • I hate all this pagan bullshit... Let this song to Island where it belongs to...

  • Kinda liked it. What the lyrics say?

  • @MYLOVEDEARFLEA It's an old Icelandic folk song about a raven who wakes up in the winter because it's too hungry to sleep any longer, and it can't find anything to eat because the earth is frozen up, and when he tries to eat from bins the dogs chase him away, so he flies everywhere looking for food before finding an old sheep lying dead in a field, and calls 'Krúnk' all the other Ravens to join the feast.. there are plenty of translations on the internet if you want the whole story though xx

  • @SiriusPunk Thanks a lot ^^

  • im icelandic an i can honestly say that this sounds ridiculous, LOL,and this guy wtf he´s like a gay alien or something hahahaha..............

    Warum?

    PS: Mir gefällts!!! :-)

  • fucking lame ass Germans...

  • Wow... Awesome.

    and I actually understand him!

    just unbeliveable!!!!

  • I'm Icelandic and this makes me very proud :) Love what they make of this old folk song ;)

  • @LinuxWindowsMacHilfe

  • That's... certainly unlike any other version I have hitherto heard. I'll admit I'm no metal fan but this, this I surprisingly like.

On a sidenote, does anyone know what that really really strange instument was? It kinda looked like an extremely complicated fiddle or violin, so I'm guessing another recreation? Or something ...

  • @KittyDice It's a Nyckelharpa.

  • @HerrLutter Kinda like an old keytar? And what's the one with the crank?

  • @KittyDice Hurdy-Gurdy

  • @KittyDice This is no metal.

  • @KittyDice At one point I saw a Hurdy Gurdy there.

  • I´m icelandic and I like it, it diffrent and I like what the singer does woth the lyrics

  • Does that harpist have a hunchback? Cause I was thinking "Hunchback Harpist in a Metal band... The very idea is fucking AWESOME!!!"

  • I'm like Germano-Romanian, but I can still sense his accent in Icelandic.

  • He's sings it like a troll that is trying to pick the others nose and say GRÚMMÍ TRAÐ Í KLÍTTAGJAR

  • for an german he atleast trys icelandic and suceeds without failing to hard its just his accent

  • @canadaislive yeah and im icelandic and i think he did a great job man :)

  • WTF He made some moves like a black american raper.Silly.

  • Pretty cool version of the song :D

  • nice!

  • Great interpretation!

  • I think it's only fair these guys come play in Iceland, considering they borrowed our song :D

  • Nice one, my 1 1/2 year old daughter likes it alot :)

  • I´m Icelandic too and i like it.........FLOTTIR........... HerrLutter Danke

  • I found this video for a coincidence about a year ago when I was listening to an old Icelandic version of that song on youtube. I immediately fell in love with this version. I always think it's cool when foreigners are trying to sing in my language.

Since then I've started to listen more and more to In Extreme and today they are one of my favourite bands.

They have so many great songs and I love all the unique instruments they use.

  • Mjög flott og með betri framburðum sem ég hef heyrt útlending nota.

Really cool, and among the best pronunciation i have heard foreigner use

  • Godann!

  • I love this performance

  • This is AWESOME....

  • As we say in Iceland "Drulluflott".

  • As we say in Iceland "Drulluflott".

  • A German singing Icelandic. Well done!

  • This is a superlative version of this old Icelandic nursery rhyme. In Iceland this is traditionally sung for children, although it tells the grim tale of a raven midst in the hunger and cold of an Icelandic winter; drawing life from a carcass of a dead sheep.

"A raven slept in a rocky crevasse,

in the dead of a cold winter´s night..."

  • hann singur þetta asnalega findið xd

  • what the heck was that violin thing?

    íslenska hér :P

  • Haha lol þetta er fyndið...

  • Lame

  • Wow this is very cool performance on that song, and the best Icelandic ive heard any foreigner speak or sing :) Am Icelandic myself.

  • Geðveikislega flott hjá þeim!

  • im from iceland and that is the best icelandic i have seen thats not from a icelander EVAH!!

  • icelaaaaaaand!!!!!!!!!

  • @HerrLutter What about Danke to Iceland they made this song?

  • In Extremo you should get an Icelandic singer for this one... you ruind classic icelandic song... shame shame!

  • @Ruddinn666 The Icelandic was not at all that bad. Íslenskan er nú ekki alveg svo slæm hjá honum.

  • @54321SG Meeh, samt.

  • hahahah x) thats one way to play it :P

  • Well, I´m Icelandic and I like it ;)

  • What the heck is going on with some of these instruments?! One of them looks like it's got finger bones and he's playing it like a viola. Another one is being cranked. CRANKED! I have never ever seen an instrument like that before in my life. I have watched a few videos from these guys and I lie them, but wow this one has some really interesting stuff in it.

  • @RomanoGiovanni Year, they use very special instruments.

The first one (with the "finger bones") is a Nyckelharpa, a Swedish instrument from the Middle Age.

But I dont know which other instrument you mean (the "cranked" one).

By the way, you posted on another vid the questions where they get their instruments from.

Some are made by themselves (some bagpipes for example) but most are made by professional "instrument makers" (dont know the English word).

  • @HerrLutter

Thanks HerrLutter! That's extremely cool-I learn something new all the time, and YouTube is no exception thanks to knowledgeable members like yourself.

  • Why is there a hobo playing the harp?

  • Thank you HerrLutter for posting these.

I am STILL witing for my dvds to come from Germany...got so bored waiting I am coming to Erfurt in July CANNOT WAIT!!!

  • lol why the hell is he singing in Icelandic??

  • Great to see the crowd sing in Icelandic! A fine version with an unusual blend of instruments. Folk rocks!

  • this would have been really epic if he had an good icelandic accent and i love the instruments.

  • Fantastic to see the crowd sing along in Icelandic!

  • Wow I think he speaks it very well! At least I understand almost every word he's saying without trying, and I think that's pretty amazing! :)

I'ts just so nice to hear Icelandic from a German because they actually know how to pronounce the 'R' right haha! It sounds right... Not like he's trying to puke :P

  • Yo, yo, Krummavisur! Hehe!

  • ég er íslenskur. X[)

  • I just love this. I think all germans should learn Icelandic!

  • @RinEditionSing in german its called leier

  • No such thing as a French nation. Normans have everything in common with the people of the part of Normandy that is not under the French rule AKA the Anglo-Norman isles but not much in common with the French, Bretons or Corsicans. Same with the Basks, they have everything in common with the Basks on the other side of the borders but almost nothing with the Normans, Bretons, French etc...No such thing as a French nation.

    Long live Normandy!

  • Not bad at all, especially considering what a difficult language Icelandic is :)

  • @beini321 Well, just be happy that a foreigner tries to speak your language. By the way, do you speak German? Would like to hear you!^^

  • @HerrLutter I personally get offended when some one tries to speak it.. it´s to beautiful dirty germans to otter!

  • @HerrLutter Actually, I'm from Iceland and he really doesn't sound bad at all.. taking into consideration Icelandic is an extremely hard language to speak, the pronunciation is difficult.. this is quite nice!

  • @HerrLutter ok i will and i won't mention the war xD

  • i'm icelandic and i think it is extremely funny to listen to that haha but it was really cool though :D

  • I like your version of your song ROCK ON.....

  • It's always so odd to hear foreigners try to speak/sing in icelandic..

  • Krummi svaf í klettagjá

  • It's a Nyckelharpa....

  • Götusmiðjan coveraði líka þetta lag. mjög flott útgáfa hjá þeim.

  • omg i can only understand krummi svaf i kletta gja and freðið nefið dregur hann undan storum steini, xD

  • im surpriest, i expectet terrable icelandic put it's just allright :) put dose any one remamber which icelandic metal band allso sinds this song, cant fint it :(

  • the harp guy is nice xD if never seen someone play harp standing and dancing however they should have a whistle

  • They have on, when I remember right now....But I am not sure!^^

  • i do see flutes but whistles are smaller and high tuned

  • For sure not in this song but in one of the other 100 songs they may have...not every instrument is used in every song...

  • i sang this with my mother actually to my fathers birthday. i made like a very primitively way off a melody guitar part and mom was playing some chords^^

it wasnt good but it was fun

  • hahah good one

  • if you refer to my reply abouth accent i cant sing very well i just have better accent on it becus i have many icelandic friends so i kinda copyed the accent on my icelandic however i only know little so i got more experience with it and i can do many accents somehow its not a skill its just a born treat i think

  • I can still do the best one ;)

  • Well I'm sorry but you appear to be Danish.

I think I know better what Icelandic sounds like ;)

    *No offence though*

  • This isn't so bad Icelandic, sometimes people need to tune languages to fit their music. They do a pretty nice job here in my humble opinion.

  • Gah! This is almost as scary as hearing another song from my childhood 'Það búa litlir dvergar' (which I uderstand is a german folk song, btw) in Hannibal Rising... but it's still kinda cool :)

  • erinnert an freddurst :D
