  • Johnny Winter is a fun act to see, but one tour he was lagging a bit. The next our(s) he had a phenomenal kid kind of complimenting him through the act. Johnny Winter has pulled it back together really well. That life looks easy, but trust me it can wear you down damn quick, and at his age even faster. I am still checking his site to see when he will come to town again. I drove 1100 miles to see Jr Brown, and may drive the same to see Mr Winter. Health fails as we get older. Don't knock JW 4 it

  • what a bunch of jerks!! I have been going to Johnny's shows for 30 years 12 in all the man is a fucking blues guitar legend see how you are doing when you are 70 years old !! the man has blues in his souls and soul I will be going to see him again at bb kings club in manhattan YOU FRESHBAKEDFISH ARE AN ASS

  • He's great...

  • Greatest guitar player of all time. always will be.

  • I think it sounds pretty good, don't know what your talking about.

  • It seems to be nearly impossible for JW to play on this crap of a Firebird guitar.

    - with a bent neck or whatever. He can´t get a proper tone out of it - maybe he plays it just for the looks´.

He would do much better with any decent new 300 $ No-Name Guitar on the market.

Good Guitar Player never depend on a brand like Gibson unless they get payed for - Thats all bullshit!

  • @sunshinesigi It's a poor carpenter that blames his tools...Johny couldn't play if you gave him a self-playing guitar...

  • @beeroosterm

You have got to be crazy.... WTF....get a life... really!

  • @freshbakedfish Let's face it, Mr. Fish: Commenting on these videos implies we don't have a life. People in glass houses...And Johnny is fading fast; that is, he hasn't been able to play for the past 12 years or so, but now he's very close to being completely unable.

  • Johnny has given us years and years of great music and I don't think its cool to throw him under the bus just because he is ill. He is a legend and will remain that legend to many. Think of Jerry Garcia, he made a few mistakes when he was failing too but who cares, Its sad people like you are willing to throw great people under the damn bus and talk shit just because of sickness and missed notes or lyrics, Would you talk shit about your mother and throw her under the bus because she is sick

  • @freshbakedfish No one is throwing Johnny under the bus. He is simply unable to play and is cashing in on his name to lure people into paying to listen to him play like the old days - which is to say with supreme competence. This is a pathetic display of incompetence which begs our indulgence while requiring that we pay. He doesn't just "make a few mistakes" - that is ALL that he does. It is entirely offensive to the ear. It is not determination I see in Johnny - it is desperation - and I'm sad.

  • @beeroosterm

Be sad ~ Johnny's still cool in my book...

  • @freshbakedfish There is no denying Johnny is cool. What is not cool is the desperate attempt to remain in the limelight at the expense of my ear and wallet. Johnny has no business on stage any more. I don't see how he has any more self-respect left when he puts himself out there like this. I'm embarrassed for him...

  • Respond to this video... Seems Mr beeroosterm is the only one here in a glass house....

  • There's nothing wrong with Johnny joining the going the way of Chuck Berry. Both were so good for so many years, and so influential on everyone that followed, that they should feel free to enjoy an "active retirement." B.B. King hasn't lost his chops yet, but it's inevitable sooner or later. Even Eric Clapton and Ry Cooder, who at 65 and 63 are less than 5 years younger than Johnny, might only another 10 really good years left. Enjoy them while you can, and be grateful for the years you got.

  • @Kozakaiya Have you seen any videos of Chuck Berry lately? It's all over...

  • great playingf as it use to be!?

  • really bad thing with johnny.... i played at a festival yesterday and johnny was the headliner: disgusting band and awful playing. retire, don't ruin yourself.

  • @MrBlindfinger You are transparent...

  • el albino es un genio !! una leyenda !!

  • Sadly, Johnny can't play any more - at least in terms of what everybody identifies him with. The fire is gone - as well as his fast fingers and guttural yell. Christ, he makes more mistakes than he plays regular notes. Last time he was able to play was about 1999 - but he had been slipping for a few years before that. I'm just glad I was able to see him 10 times before that. People should stop bullshitting themselves and call a spade a spade: Johnny is through...

  • @beeroosterm I think he can still play, maybe not like he used to but this is a poor recording technically. Bit like the 'bootleg' stuff we used to get years ago..

  • @Letsbikeit My comment has nothing to do with the quality of the recording - he simply has lost the ability to play. Any first year guitar student could play circles around him. I'm Johnny's biggest fan and am greatly saddened by his guitar senility - but I refuse to mask the truth. Time to retire or produce others' recordings.

  • @beeroosterm I think it may have something to do with Johnny not being able to see.

  • @Siomistic Nope. Johnny has been legally blind since he was a boy. He's had some event that, combined with his continued heavy drug use (decades of methadone, vodka, and benzodiazipines) has conspired to destroy his ability to play.

  • @beeroosterm Legally blind means you can still see a little, like maybe enough to see the basic location of the frets which means a whole lot if you've depended on playing that way all your life. And then if he suddenly(over a few years) went totally blind and couldn't see the frets at all that would make a big difference...I guess I'm just grabbing' at straws...tryin' to find legitimate excuses for Johnny. Peace

  • @MacAggy It is tragic but not unexpected that Johnny would lose his ability to play - just not quite so soon. It is not just his eyesight that prevents him from playing at this point; it is painfully obvious there is trouble upstairs (brain) and he's been losing fine motor ability for the last 12-13 years. We do have a huge amount of music and video of him, though - thank goodness we can keep the memory of his greatness alive forever.

  • Good to see Johnny with the big old White Firebird! I like that tone so much better.Rock On White Rabbit! UL.

  • ahh it sucks youtube took the one down of him doing this in sweden at least sound the bell is still on here johnny winter is the best!!!

  • its funny when watching guys like jonhy winter on youtube playing when they are still your then with just two click of a mouse poof they are old

  • Dont take advantage of me is the name of this great song. Johnny Winter is one of the greatest guitarist period !!

  • What's the name of this song? Johnny's still going strong :)

  • The Old Man Still got it

  • i really dont like earing the other guitar, paul nelson isnt that the name?

  • Johnny Winter made his fame with the Gibson Firebird.

  • I think he's using his Firebird for fretted work because his Lazer was stolen from him.

  • No JW show is complete unless he pull's out this Gibson Firebird Guitar! He's played it for 45 years.

  • Yeah, he's a legend with any guitar. I just love to watch him playin'

  • He still have the erlewine...but he is a great guitarrist with any guitar!

  • why has he changed his legendary white headless Erlewine Lazer for this guitar type???
