  • This aint woth youtube.

Leave jazz alone if you can't play it.

  • Yeah man, ust listen to some combo music like Miles Davis' "Kind of Blue".

You've got the basic idea but your ride cymbal pattern gets weak when your hands start getting really creative. Try playing the basic ride pattern to a metronome at various tempos and comp with your left hand/right foot to some VERY basic patterns. (pick up "syncopation" by Ted Reed if you don't already have it!)

Great start though man! You'll be swingin' in not time!

  • advice: listen to some jazz

  • lefthander, too?

  • wow that was really good much better than i could do! but you know what would be cool is if you tuned your drums a litltle higher the snare sounds amazing really high tuned in a jazz beat

  • Sounds great, man. I haven't been playing Jazz for too long, but it was really smooth. It flowed.

  • What cymbal is that, on 0:25 ? Sounds great, Paiste?

  • 20 inch Paiste power crash

  • Power

  • very nice swing. good snare and hi hat work. nice and clean too! good jorb.

  • Why Is it that EVERY drummer (includeing Me) makes some type of face when drumming?

  • me like. thanks.

  • True. Any suggestions?

  • Dont listen to him, that took me about 3 drum lessons to learn when i was first starting, that was amaZing, smooth, and it swung the way jazz should.

  • amazing

  • That was smooth! It sounded awesome and probably because you have rather a rock kit...

  • ahaha missed on 39seconds! nice right hand^^

  • sounds alright to me.

  • This is jazz-heavy metal!

  • hahaha...i have a tendency to do that!

  • dude that was freakin dope

  • awesome and ur a lefty!

  • hey dude, maybe its the audio i dunno but, blending?

the snare is normally in jazz a main focus, but quiet with emphasis on the ride - i dunno its probably just the audio on the video

  • good job, getting pretty advanced on that jazz beat

  • nice

  • That was amazing, very well done. I am starting to learn jazz as well, I may have to try those tom fills you used. :D

  • for a beginner jazz player, brilliant.

I can hear the walking bassline already.

  • i dunno why but your drum heads are sexy

  • Great! I was just out for this kinda video.

Was just trying to get some inspiration for playing something jazzy

  • nice job : D

  • it's cool though, not bad, good right hand ghosts.

  • wo thats crazt, i like, rarely see lefty drummers, and good job

  • Lefty?

  • yes

  • no shit sherlock

  • You kind of screwed up a little bit at the end with the hihat, but other that, nice job.

    Sounded nice.

  • thanks!....yea i fuck up all the time....but i'm far from a jazz player. I was just trying to pull it off

  • i actually don't like the sound of your snare, but nice one!

  • this is so "drummers world"

  • extraordinary, as usual, "very carter from DMB"
