are you able to give the plans for the chicken tractors? they look great! we are using 2X4's and chicken wire, very heavy and deadly to some chicks when moving.....
@athearnmv I got my original plan from here: pvcplans.com/pvc-pastured-poultry-pen.htm.
I've made a couple changes, though. I've made mine 3 feet longer (10x12, with an extra support). Plus, for the meat birds, I've removed that inner square, since it's completely unnecessary for anything that doesn't roost.
I was looking to get few free range meat chickens (right now I have 11 Bantam chicks for eggs). Mine are 2 months old and they really, really small (the size of my palm). They are grain fed. I understand that Bantum chickens are supposed to be small but I don't know how small is "normal". Can you tell me if the breed you have is normal to be this big at 5 weeks, or you feed them with more protein food? Thank you.
@arianna19742000 Bantam chickens are very small. They are bred to be that way. These chickens (Freedom Rangers) are bred to be very large, larger than any standard breed chicken, but not quite as large as the industry standard meat chicken. You can order them from jmhatchery (dot com)
Looks like such a relaxing ranging area for chickens. They have a generous area for walking around and for hunting for juicy insects, worms and greens.
@UncleHoot - When you pasture raise your chickens, do hawks ever get you birds?

These free range and are ready in 12 weeks? How do they compare to Brahmas or dual purpose birds for meat size?
