What a talented skater. No discipline, drug abuse, and he died a few years ago. An equally-talented 'wild child," Nicole Bobek recently was charged with drug trafficking and could have got 10 years in prison, but she got a "bye," and her sentence was 5 years probation. Hope she is not dead in a few years. Her mother got right on Facebook, said Nicole was "free as a bird," and invited everybody to come and party at her house. How horrible and scary.
If he had skated under the new scoring system, he would have received very high marks for his transitions and connections within his elements. He was ahead of his time in that area. Such a great talent.
Commentator: ''and yet, Browning, with a chance for a medal, perhaps the gold tonight; and for Chris Bowman, only the satisfaction of entertaining the audience and moving up in the standings.'
Kurt Browning finished in sixth place, Christopher Bowman finished in fourth.
All I have to say is I watched him from the beginning......I remember him in Little House on the Prairie, I think he was expected to be the best in anything he did, but I think he got caught up, I don't think he realized his potential in anything he did because I don't think he trusted his fame. a lot of insecurities there, and now he is gone....dead at 40 years old. I loved this guy, I'm just afraid he didn't love himself.
I remember watching this and how the press had labeled him Bowman the Showman. They were also calling him The Bad Boy of Figure Skating. I was sad to hear of his death.
I'm rooting for Johnny Weir to get to the Olympics again and win the gold this time. He is very talented and can do it.
I was disappointed when I heard about Bowman's death on the radio, last night. I had a short-lived crush on him, when I saw him skate for the first time, in 1987. He will be missed.
It doesn't matter who podiumed at the Olympics. Christoperh Bowman was the best skater of them all. No one could touch his talent. We will miss you Chris
In spite of lack of figure skating coverage in Ireland, I'm a big fan and knew of Christopher Bowman, tuned in to watch after hearing the sad news of his death. He sure could skate! It's a pity that he could not shake of the demons and realise his full potential to become one of the greatest skaters ever - it was within his talent to do it...

It is bad how hard it was to move up under the 6.0 system. When this guys landed his jumps his flow out and position are excellent!

Does anyone have Chris' long program performance from the 1989 Nationals? I was there and saw it in person -- got his autograph, too.
So sorry to learn a few months ago of his death. "Bowman the Showman" was my mother's favorite men's singles skater. He will always be remembered.

No amount of medication, exercise or surgery could keep you eternal. So, dont u feel bad about death coz youll get there.

My mom had a huge crush on him. So cute and so, so talented. I really wish he had lived up to his potential - and lived longer, too.

Ahh -- This is how I'll always want to always remember Chris! He's now at peace; his deamons are gone. May God bless his family and friends.

What a tragedy! Being Canadian, I remember the rivalry between Browning and Bowman in '89 and '90 very well, but after that, it seemed to fade.
Such a talent, he never fulled realized his full potential.
