Those downsized 1978-1983 Malibus were attractive and made for a good automotive value. I would have liked to have had the 4-door sedan. Practical and sensible for its day.
Its kind of weir my father went from a 1971 Chevy Monte Carlo that he brought brand new to buying a 1978 Chevy Malibu that was a demo he said he hated it the day he brought it and was so glad the day he got rid of it when we got rid of it, it was 1984 and we almost came home in a 1980 Cadillac Coupe Deville but instead brought a 1981 Pontiac Grand Prix Brougham
@Lumotaku Agreed, These were Great cars!! Great looking and Very Dependable! We had one and knew so many people that owned these malibu's as well...Great cars..Someone I Know had an 81 Sedan...Drove it 18 years and 350,000 KMS..No Trouble at all except Basic maintenance!
my neighbor use to have a 1978 Chevrolet Malibu Classic with alloy wheels not wired spokes discs the car was an brown red and the interior was burgandy red looked nice I dont know why he had to get rid of it

I really liked this era of the Chevy Malibu's, they look like an updated version of the 1966-67 Malibu's when looking at the sides.

Bring these cars back with airbags and hybrid motors and watch the sales go through the roof.

I didn't even know you could get a manual trans in these cars. Was it on the column or the floor?
