  • Unimog : its like a Mercedes Truck..........

    wait....

    it is a Mercedes Truck..

    I WANT A MOG :D

  • Haha, your right, i don't just want it, There are som meny reasons for why i Need it! :D

    Anyway, great work

I work at a Bus Repair shop in Denmark, we had several busses convertet to run with a system a bit like yours. it worked pretty well.

  • @xanut2007 Thanks for watching our videos! Glad you had some success running on SVO! :)

  • Great video, now tell me something... hummers are like toys when compared with Unimog, right?

  • @pvarela2 Well, that's a matter of opinion but the Unimog was VERY fun to have in our shop :)

  • can you do this in a turbo diesel mercedes gl 350?

  • @poojacrew We have no experience with this particular engine as no one has wanted to convert such a new engine. The newer emissions technology on some of these newer engines have proven to be problematic on svo.

  • Have you thought that if you added a fuel pre-heater,based on a babington type oil burner, like the shop waist oil burner, but on smaller scale, that the deisel tank for start up would not be needed?

  • @TheBattleWagon There are all sorts of methods to preheat your engine so startup is shorter. You can use a block heater, park your car in a heated garage, etc. etc. All of which require energy. Depending on which method you use, the amount of energy required may defeat the purpose. Our systems are designed to work in any condition but there are things you can do at home, like parking the car in the garage over night which will help decrease your startup time.

  • Hi!! This video is so Awsone!.

I have always wanted to own or at least drive an Unimog!.

Is is true that you can use Jet A-1(Kerosene) Fuel on a Diesel engine? Like Street Racers put AvGas into Petrol Engines for their races?

Thanks for sharing your videos and for making this modifications to make the world a better and cleaner place

  • @Chijousaikyo To answer your question, diesel engines can burn a variety of fuels however our expertise is on the use of new and used vegetable oil. With a good SVO system, diesel engine's run great on the stuff :)

  • Great vid of an awesome machine. Every man needs a 'Mog...

  • Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching :)

  • if you think a Unimog is big, look at a International CXT! also i've heard that you can run a diesel on SVO w/o modifacation, is that true?

  • You can run almost any diesel on SVO without modification under the right conditions. Without propper shut downs and startups, and starting and shutting down in cold climates however it can have adverse effects over time. Running in Phoenix Arizona is one thing, running in Fairbanks Alaska is another. With an SVO system you will increase the window at which SVO will work properly in your vehicle.

  • @tadpole5555

if you think people buy Unimogs because of the sheer size, you do know nothing about these machines.

  • When you say "straight vegetable oil" do you mean thats what you start with and go through the chemical proccess's of making biodiesel with or do you mean pure vegetable oil with no treatment is used for fuel? Pure vegetable oil with no treatment for the glycerine in it will ruin your engine if used for extend periods of time/miles. Just wondering?

  • We are talking about Pure Vegetable Oil, however we do treat it so to speak, we filter it before use. It is a common misconception that straight vegetable oil will ruin an engine. We actually have thousands of vehicles all over the world running on SVO, many with hundreds of thousands of miles on them. If you build the proper system SVO is a totally viable biofuel, one which uses far less energy to create! If you'd like to knw more, please visit our website :) w w w . goldenfuelsystems . com

  • When you say "Pure vegetable oil" what do you mean? Does it have glycerine in it still? Is it the stuff you get from restuarants or grocery stores? please explain. Thanks!

  • Yes you're correct, we are referring to oil that still has glycerin in it. Glycerin will combust in a diesel engine. Biodiesel removes glycerin so that the veggie will flow unrestricted to the engine. You can acomplish the same feat by simply lowering the viscosity of the oil by heating it with an SVO system. By doing so there's much less processing of your vegetable oil to run it in your engine, thus saving time and money. Great question, thanks for asking!

  • Thanks for answering! I love diesel engines and their ability to burn a multitude of fuel types. Not to mention the vast range of things you can make in diesel/biodiesel.

  • You're very welcome :)

  • That's a common misconception. Although some people think the exhaust from an SVO vehicle has the faint smell of food, it doesn't smell like french fries. What ever the smell you might think it smells like, it smells much better than the exhaust from burning diesel fuel.

  • I doubt if the PLD system is compatible with biofuels

  • So far the Unimog is running on vegetable oil very well. If you have any data on the incompatibility of biofuels and the PLD system feel free to share it with us. All of our data so far shows no problems running on SVO.

  • It's great to see you guy's working too put renewable, clean burning fuels in our vehicles! Nice job on the Unimog as well!

  • my thoughts also

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Can you still cross rivers in it? I know the oil needs to be hot in order for it to run, but i would think that the tank being submerged in water would cool it too much. That's awsomet that theres a unimog in Oregon. lol, I live in Oregon!

  • It depends... If you're just crossing short rivers the oil inside of the tank isn't going to wick away enough heat into the cooler water to raise the viscosity the the point where its too cold to flow unrestricted to the engine. Now if you plan on being submerged for very long periods of time then I could see that possibly being a concern. But you should be fine for short river crossings.

  • That is amazing, great job and I hope you post more videos.

  • nice work...i guess i know where to go to get a car converted now. one question. this ONLY works with diesel, right? no way it will work on an unleaded motor?

  • That's correct, you can only run a Diesel engine on waste vegetable oil. Check out our website or call us at our free 866 number if you have any more questions, we'd love to hear form you!

  • unless you wanted to build your own hydrogen fuel cell.

  • You guys are so awesome. That must be such a cool job... and with the way things are going in our future... a great business! Love the videos.... keep them coming!

  • Hey thanks for watching and posting your comment, we love to hear from people! We really do enjoy our job. Its always fun to see how excited our clients are when the run on free waste vegetable oil for the first time!

  • Cool I didn't know Merc were selling new Mogs in the US or did he import it?

Glad to see you guys love it too, such a great truck.

  • We know that Freightliner is one of the dealer for the Mercedes Unimog. You might give them a call if you're interested in buying one. If you ever want to convert it to run on vegetable oil, give us a call! :)

  • I'm in the UK so have no problems buying one, just no where to put it :)

I'm getting ready to convert my old range rover to grease so thanks for all your vids, they have given me lots of idea's.

  • Great, glad you found our videos helpful. If you ever have any questions feel free to give us a call :)

  • cheers bud, that's much appreciated
