@BMJM619 Really? I think it's cool when musicians show you how to do stuff, and prove they can play well live without the rest of the band to cover up any mistakes, you know?
@drumdrumdrum11 agreed. I did not know of any conditions he has either, just they had a break. And seeing that on my other post on so cold there is a student of chad saying that he even thinks bens an ass that speaks more than some random person saying it (me). Reguardless its dumb to even argue about. It is what it is. good luck to your future in music
@drumdrumdrum11 Sorry bro just really pisses me off to hear people bad mouth about someone i know and respect who dont know him. And you make valid points too dude. Jeremy's drum style and music is not the same that BB is playing i know because of the bands he is in. I bet if i asked him or other band members from BB they would say that Ben is the dickhead, i mean were they not on break or whatever due to him? Chad is a badass drummer no doubt. Whos better is all opinion, they both are good
@drumdrumdrum11 Did you meet Jeremy? Did you talk to him??? have you hung out with him and the band and seen all this??? Im willing to bet you did not. Opinions are like ASSHOLES everyone has one. So you saying that you think he was an ass means NOTHING to NOBODY. I see him every single week and talk to him, which i bet you do not so how would you know that he was an ass. Now i do understand money and power change people, maybe that was the case, maybe that was not.
I tell ya one thing if i put my blood sweat and tears into something, then went on leave for a month or so because my child is being born, and then they kick me out and give me NO PROCEEDS to the money they are making off of the songs i make i would sue them too. I meet jeremy everyweek at his house for lessons and he is an awesome guy. He is a master of many many different styles. and he is not a "bitch" in anyway.
its not a competition on who is better. they are both very good but for the direction that breaking benjamin went after we are not alone chad is better suited for them. for saturate and we are not alone jeremy was better suited
@thenavysniper I don't think Jeremy wants to re-join - they didn't exactly end their musical relationship on great terms. Plus Jeremy has a family now and students to teach.
I've been a BB fan since '04 and I always found Jeremy's playing alot more technical than Chads'. They are both very good, but I find Jeremy a hell of alot better. Listen to the last fill at the end of firefly and tell me if you've EVER heard Chad pull that off in BB.
@punk9999643 How hard/technical something is doesn't mean anything. That's what a lot of hardcore/metal guys don't get. Anybody can play fast if they practice it. Not everybody can play with a groove or play slow with a good feel. That intro/verse part he's playing grooves pretty hard.
@patthedrummer85 So are you saying Chad can't groove like this? if so, you're sadly mistaken. Since I posted that comment, I have started to respect Jeremy a lot more. He is a hell of an awesome drummer. I just find Chads stuff more interesting.
@punk9999643 I didn't say that at all. What I did say is that technicality means nothing if it hurts the song or clutters it up. Regardless, it's all a matter of opinion.
chad is a much better drummer....not saying this guy isnt good he obviously is but chad is way more technical and i think BB drum section of the band is alot more solid now......chad does so much more on the drums it seems....you can really tell a difference between the drums on phobia compared to the albums prior that jeremy played for
@SFSKnights actually if you mean Chad knows more, your'e wrong, this guy right here
(Jeremy Hummel.) actually knows more about drumming, but Chad knows more as in jazz, and marching band type druming, i do agree that Chad is 'better' and definetly better for the band. But in terms of who knows more, Jeremy wins, but in my opinion they are both amazing. 2 of my drum idols, are both of the Bben drummers, rock on.
@SFSKnights Yea your probably right about that ,Chad being more technical and busy on the drums . I'm a drummer of 12 years ,played in bands etc (not talking my self up )... when I heard BB's fisrt album and phobia I was really taken with the drums ...soo tasteful ,creative and never overplayed.. also deceptively hard to play properly.Hummel also wrote most of the music and riffs for W.a.n.a..Hes a genius
Jeremy was my drum teacher for a long time & became a good friend. His drumming on the classic "Breaking Ben" material will always be my faves. I saw them go from a local sensation to netional status, which was really great. For all of you drummers watching this, note the excellent use of rudiments & orchastration of his drum grooves/fills.
I get the feeling that hes still a little upset about getting kicked from BB. It must be weird to play songs that you wrote while knowing that you're not in the band anymore. It even looks like he reminiscing about them and fantasizing about being in BB again. Good stuff, rock on Jeremy.
I kinda feel bad for jeremy... yeah i know he sued BB for like a million dollars but unless he's a complete bitch i would still stay in touch with him instead of completely abandoning him.
its actually kinda sad to see a drummer covering his own song :(

@thenavysniper
IMHO, I think neither is better, they're 2 different people, with different styles.
I personally find Chad's playing more interesting than Jeremy's.
