this track got me into motorhead. Love it when 'faster' bands pull a slower number (looking at you too Pantera)
anyway this track is super fucking heavy, good thing I don't have any close neighbours, I get on the turps etc and play along to this track fucking loud
I remember Lemmy in the early days talking with the news, they all wanted to know why the lyrics are violent and the name referred to a drug. When they asked him what was his response, he said "Motorhead's not just a name but a way to arrive." Then promptly walked away. That's the great thing about him. He doesn't care if you get him or not.
Although its disputed and argued, there is at least some evidence that the term 'heavy metal' was first coined by a music reviewer in reference to a Motorhead show. If true, Lemmy and Philthy Phil could be credited as having created the genre.
Certainly, MH created the 'wall of sound' notion that became the foundation of later speed metal.... would I call MH speed metal? No. Could speed metal have existed without MH? No.
I'm proud to say that "I Don't Believe A Word" is the first Motorhead tune I have learned to play (I'm a drummer). It's not 100% yet but I can play through the entire thing with only a few areas that need a little more individual work!!
They were actually considered Punk Rock in the beginning, but became one of the first "Metal" Bands because they were much "Heavier" than Punk. Lemmy has said it quite a few times.
Ker vas jeb'o sareni! Jebo vas R'n'R! Listen to fucking music and you will hear it is speed metal! Ace Of Spades, Burner, See Me Burning... They created Speed Metal. And, yes, Motorhead plays Speed Metal.
@ianvankastel Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and other bands called their music "rock 'n roll", later, it got name Heavy Metal. Lemmy tell his music is rock 'n roll, but they (motorhead) created Speed metal.
someone i love more than anything in the world is inserious trouble and this song is depressing, i cannot bear to live without her in my life, i must help her anyway i can, and i will. ERI i love you, you are the one special thing in my life and i can't NOT help you!
Yo. You see that dude on the left? Not Lemmy's left, our left. Yeah, that guy. You see 'im? He fucking. Loves. Cigarettes. Like, loves the shit out of 'em.
@b00n0r22 They're definitely first speed metal band. Listen to See me burning, and many others, than you will comprehend why I put heavy/speed metal as a genre they play.
@afrry002 Lemmy calls it Rock N' Roll and to be honest, We are Motorhead and we play Rock N' Roll sounds alot better than We Are Motorhead and we play Speed Metal
@afrry002 it's definetely the heaviest, dirtiest and truest rock'n'roll ever played. actually it is rock'n'roll as it should be played.. no offence man, but by being the main influence for a specific genre of music doesn't mean that they should be called so. in the case of Motorhead, this is sure- think how many bands they have influenced... what should be the name of the music they are playing?
@b00n0r22 It's not easy to classify Motorhead in a genre of music. The best description, in my oppinion, is given by Lemmy: Motorhead plays rock'n'roll.

Rock and metal overlap anyway. The categories are quite vague. This is on the borderline. That awesome borderline.

FOR GOD SAKE! "Lemmy is rock, rock is Lemmy" . This is Rock kids, even if it's harder than your average pussy band.

All the love in all the world Is not enough to save my soul tonight

When all the ones that sing the blues Sometimes I think of how it used to be

This. Motorhead is too awesome to worry about what genre or subgenre they should be in. Everyone else copied them anyways.
