Was the first person happy because those with genes that let them be happy whatever was going on wouldn't have lived as long and wouldn't have passed on their genes? Only those that responded to certain stimuli negatively would have reproduced. If that what it's about then I agree, except I imagine those genes were well established in us before we had evolved into humans at all. They may have been modified since then though.
