  • It is a TV show. Left wingers from Hollywood

  • hahal lol . her in canada we have albrta . so i no what the usa goes throug with the south but i must say the southern part of thr usa has changed in the last 10 to 15 years.

  • @986tornado Oh for sure, this show ran during the 80's. Dixie Cartner (Julia Sugarbaker's) character rocks ! She stands up for the underdog. I was sad to hear that she passed away a few years ago - she had a storylin arc on "Desperate Housewives" in 2007 when Bree first married Orson Hodge and was still as fiesty as ever ! lol

  • this is true of us in the south.

  • I have crazy people on both of my sides (mainly my mother's and my mom too are crazy).

  • I Adore these women, these southern-Women....Mizz Julia, especially- for she speaks for ALL. Bless You, Dixie Carter, and Blessings to All the Women of the South!

  • God bless ALL!

  • r there any longer clips of this show, I love this show.

  • LOL!!! It's TRUE!

(My living room's FULL of crazy people!)

  • This is too funny and too true. :)

  • I'm from the south (well Maryland, although it's considered a southern state) and I remember someone asked me what side my crazy people were from. I love deja vu!

  • Julia is damned right! We parade 'em around!

  • if i was american (im scottish)id want to be southern. its a great accent, love it!

  • we don't hide are crazy's in the attic we put them out in the parlor for all to see

  • Sexy sugars , to my miss Baker.

  • Somehow this speech has morphed a little in my family, to "This is the south. We don't hide our crazy people up in the attic; we bring right down into the parlor and set 'em up on the divan to show them off."

  • That's my girl!

  • this was an amazing episode because Bernice goes on to hold her own in court and best her niece by getting drunk and becoming more lucid! amazing

  • I am proud to sit in the living room!!!!!!!!

  • Does anyone have the clip where Julia goes on a rant at the young floozy trying to steal her boyfriend...where she says she's never seen compost tied up in such a pretty package?

  • LOL. My Mom was just talking about that! How we all have at least one crazy person in the family. (in our case theres several!)

  • Yes!!!, so so true!!!, and I will truley miss this woman, shows like this will live on forever, and nothing will ever compare!, Rest in peace Dixie, you will be missed.

  • Lord it's the truth!!

  • I love this show, I loved the comedy, Dixe Carter was the best. All of them were the best, and I miss them all, bring them back you nitwit executives (network). The Christmas Tree Outfit was the best, reminded me of Carol Brunnett's Gone With The Wind episode. Her with the curtains draped across her shoulders. If only Clark Gable or Vivian Leigh had been alive. I bet Lawrence Oliver was alive then and I bet he laughed his head off!

  • Amen Mrs. Sugarbaker!

  • Got to Love Julia... Rest in Peace

  • I just loved this show! Dixie Carter was a funny, beautiful southern woman!

  • As a southern woman, I must say. This is by far my favorite saying. I heard this once I watch this epd. And from there on out. I used it often. Both sides of my family and when holidays comes, we always have great things to talk about. heheee

  • Rest in Peace ... You portrayed the beautiful steel magnolia that you were in real life.

  • Dixie Carter passed away on April 11,2010.will be sadly missed.Dixie was the the very fiber of what a true southern lady was...she was kick ass southern and frilly, fancy southern..

  • "We're from the south and we're proud of our crazy people"...LOL love it!! I'm from the deep south, so this is funny to me!! Rest in peace, Ms. Sugarbaker, you will be missed.

  • As a southerner, it's the danged truth. We are proud of who and where we come from because it creates who we are. Julia simply boiled it down to something every can relate to and why we're not ashamed of it.

  • God bless Dixie!

  • RIP Dixie; Forever the Terminator!

  • I am from the South too...and sorry, but crazy people exist EVERYWHERE!

  • rip

  • RIP Dixie you were fantastic!

  • R.I.P., Dixie.

  • This may be my very very VERY favorite moment of Designing Women! Whether from the North or the South, there are always those who are "teched" in the head. Long live the memorie of Dixie Carter as Julia Sugarbaker! LOVE YOU!

  • R.I.P Dixie!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dixie, you will be missed!!!

  • So true! I'm from the south and we don't call our crazy people crazy, we say they're "a little touched" or simply "touched in the head". Everyone knows exactly what that means. LOL. Bless their hearts.

  • Crazy folks on both sides of my family. Have to question the sanity of any grown woman wearing a ginormus bow in her hair, though!

  • @renaboz That is funny..........haha

  • my crazy people are on my mother's side!!

    greetings from alabama!!!

  • Here, here! from Southeast Louisiana and everything Julia says is true!! Proud to be from the south!

  • "we dont hide them up in the attic we bring them right down into the living room and show them off."

    ROTFLMMFAO

  • There are plenty of "crazy people" here in Canada too. They aren't yet accepted as they are in the South or elsewhere in the US, but the attitude is a lot more open minded and tolerant than before, thanks to public awareness ads and literature.

  • I love this ep. Julia's is so right,,,I have a few in my family....from the South..lol

  • from kentucky...plenty of crazies and we definitely show em off!

  • I'm from kentucky also. And you're right we show our crazies off...as long as we say bless their heart hahaha

  • I'm from the South, too, and who isn't crazy? And not just in the South.

    ;-)

  • Julia speaks the truth! I'm from the South and we do have some crazy people down here. Proud of some more then others but we got them.

  • there's crazy people everywhere. from new england down to the deepest south. it's just a matter of how they are treated. plus some non crazy people are just kinder, more warm/tender hearted than others. in other words, u got got nice, caring people and u got nasty, selfish types who won't be bothered with anyone.....

  • here here!!! from the south and i totally agree!!!

  • annie potts is so southern and so sexy!

  • "And which side are yours on Ms. Sugarbaker?"

    "Both!"

I LOVE this one!!! I was just watching this episode last night!!!

  • word for word from Julia...we never ask in the South which side ...never..that would be rude!! we just assume you have someone that has been, came from or perhaps..are going to the "nervous hospital" always ask how they are doing and always ALWAYS...."bless their heart!"
