  • did anyone find it hard to put a 306lr on this piece. it was extremely difficult to get it on and now i cant unscrew it.

  • @FSUwestSOfresh i have heard some 306 attys have threading issues.. not just with the BB , but with most mods :( where did you get your attys?

  • @GrimmGreen @GrimmGreen I got them from altsmoke. I usually get my atty's from ELP. but since I was ordering from altsmoke I figured I'd try a lr306. Had to pry the damn thing out with pliers.

  • Bro can you use cartos on this somehow, I really want to try this out, but I hate 3 pieces with the attys. Just tell me which cartos and I'm ordering this....lol

  • @WayTooDazedConfus3d You can use 510 cartos with the BB , i think Altsmoke even sells the cartos that work

  • @GrimmGreen Right on, see I thought so I just needed a confirmation thanks a lot bud.

  • So, how have you recorded the audio before? On the Yeti video you commented on recording the audio from your phone. How did that work? Was it recorded separately and synced later or...?

  • @wolfen1057 yeah, back in this video i recorded the audio on my iPhone , then synced it up later when i was editing it , now i use a separate external mic

  • A pair of 3V rated CR2s or RCR2s are really only going to give you about 4-5V (depending on cell chemistry) on average to the atty once you factors in the losses to cell resistance. You could use an IMR14500 @ 3.7V which has much less resistance, combine that with a low resistance atty and get performance nearly on par with most 5+V setups that actually work correctly. 4.5V across a 2.3 Ohm atty is about the same as 3.7V across a 1.5 Ohm atty.

  • lot of BS out there about the "protection" circuits increasing the safety of these cells by leaps and bounds. Most protection circuits found on modern cells allow higher than safe charge and discharge rates, and a margin of overcharge anyways. The only thing they are really doing that is useful is preventing over-discharge. FYI: almost all ecigs draw more than the maximum recommended current from small form factor LiCo chemistry cells.

  • wow bro,how much and where can i get one i wanna be the 1st kid on my block to have one?

  • @brave9911 ha ha ha ha , altsmoke(dot)com dude!

  • Hey GrimmGreen, I been watching your reviews, and I honestly believe I cried on everyone your historical lol. Anyways, I am currently vaping the Joye 510, and ready to step it up. I was really interested in The BB, but not quite sure I don't want something big(screw driver), but don't want something to small (riva) my dad has a Riva and loves it, I do too but I want something different. What is the Joye510 Volts? What is the step up from joye510 to a BB 3.7v? Confused HELP! ;) Thanks

  • @dated9119 yeah a standard 510 kit runs at 3.7v, the BB does as well , but it will last you MUCH MUCH longer. No more swapping out batteries during the day. The mega ego batteries have a 900mah battery i believe? and they are not much bigger than the standard batteries.

  • Hey nick again: Just a thought, I'm wondering ..... maybe I'll get some aluminium stock and make a new bottom peice that will fit cr-2s. I wonder if there would be a market for that? I"m not promising any thing but my machinist friend and I may be able to figure this out. I'm hoping now to get the new version to see what needs to be done, Something that small on 6-volts would be great! thanks for the great vids once again

  • Yeah , maybe also drill some holes in the side of the body to vent in the event of a battery shorting out. My followup will be up later today , and i reviewed it as a 3.7v device since the new BB's wont hold 2 cr2 batteries

  • Hey Nick: I just got my new BB today! It turns out to be the old style that fits cr-2s. Well.... I"m going to wait a few months and order another one hohefully I'll get a new style and see if I can mod it to fit cr-2s. The new 800 mah cr-2s I got from amazon are working great! I think I'm going to drill a hole in the bottom center just in case batteries vent. I've used unprotected batteries for a couple of years with never a problem. Just won't leave them on the charger over night. Rad vids bro

  • @GrimmGreen seriously? omg

  • @GrimmGreen the BB is already vented.

  • Hey Nick: Is the differance of the new bb's the inside diameter? If thats the case I could chuck it up in the lathe and turn the inside to a larger diameter. Any thoughts? Thanks for the great reviews!

  • hey grimm it all started watching you in your video reveiws and now just 1 month later i have a 2012 solar flair, a comit, and i hope on saturday or monday the new b.b, a question is it really safe to run the b.b at 6 volts with CR2s and will mine hold them ?

  • all batteries are dangerous , as long as you don't leave them on the charger for days on end , and don't keep vaping when they are dying you should be fine. I just ordered some "PROTECTED" CR2 batteries from the UK , so i'll let you know how they work out. If you EVER feel your BB getting warm , or hot. Immediately take the batteries out. That's the first sighn of a failing battery. Also keep your batteries in pairs. and only use the same 2 together all the time.

  • The next logical step here would be to do a review of the BB passthrough....WITH the usb cord being supplied with it.

    thanks for your work man!!!

  • 3.7v Sooooooooo Sad! Would be sweet to have a Baby Silver Bullet at 6v.

Rob seems like a great guy so maybe it is for safety reasons. Although I do run CR2's in my SB while charging my 123A's. I have had no problems so far!

    Thanks Grimm!

    -Bill

  • yeah , altsmoke is just covering their ass , which i understand , people just need to respect their batteries. I have been using CR2 batteries in my copper for a while with no issues.

  • Its about the same size as the Grant.... Small and powerful. Plus a locking button. I agree with you on the CR2... they are awesome at 6v. I don't really like the RCR123 at 6v.. too strong.

  • i was just told by Rob at Altsmoke , that the new BB's being made are being machined differently to prevent people from using to CR2's in them...

i agree , for 6v two CR2's are really the way to go.

  • Well that just turned me Off to it completely. 3.7v just does NOT do it for me anymore

  • very rarely i still like 3.7 for a few flavors , but for the most part.. yeah... i need 5v or 6v for sure.

  • @GrimmGreen Yep, my BB will hold 2 CR2's but it cannot be screwed together all the way.

there is about 1/8" gap of threads showing.....but it still works and you gotta be careful not to get noalox on your hands.

  • Nick, great review, once again-

Altsmoke seems to recommend that the BB only be used as a 3.7V device, but you rave about it in your review as a 6V, using two CR2s. Is it really that dangerous to use CR2s, or is Altsmoke just protecting themselves in case of a 6V "accident"?

    Vape on!

  • There is a stigma attached to the CR2 batteries , that they will blow up and take your face off... it's just not true , all batteries are dangerous , you should be as careful with CR2's as you are with any other battery. Altsmoke is just protecting themselves... which i understand.

  • great review ! i bet many of us can relate to when you compared the button to a PS3 analog stick haha lol.. Goodshit bro !

  • Hey Nick: Amazon has cr-2 cells w/800 mah life. That should work well. I ordered them yesterday, I'll let you know how they work when they get here and have had a couple of days to test them out. Vape on Bro!

  • and to answer your question , no .. the BB , when purchased , does not come with batteries

  • The BB i have was donated , i happened to have some CR2's that i use with my copper. Turns out this will only use PROTECTED 14500 batteries , which i don't have... i don't know how i got it to run at 3.7v in the video lol

  • ok try it with the adapter

    tell us what you think

i like the button better than the sb button sometimes

  • I like how your slappin pics up there real quick now. I'd like to see that perform on the PT they have out there for it. BTW grimm your not making my mod choice any easier! lol

  • HAH! sorry JL ... i want to try the PT extension also... not sure if they are in stock right now.. hmmmmm

  • Amp Hours (Ah) Refers to the amperage the strength of the electrical current expressed in amperes that the battery can hold. The higher the Ah, the longer the battery will last in-between charges.

Milli-amp Hours (mAh) Applies to how much energy the battery can store the capacity of the battery. The higher the mAh, the longer the run-time in-between charges. One mAh is the equivalent to 1/1000 Amps. IE: 2.7 Ah = 2700 mAh

  • Thanks Techno... i'm not a big battery guy , so this is good info to have on hand.. thanks!

  • Nice tats and TRON shirt -- what were you reviewing again? ;) Hah no, it looks like an awesome mod that I'd be interested in had I not owned both a solid 1st and 2nd string mod already. In fact when 6 volts is questionable to many, I question why 11 volts other than "because we can". What must it do to your juice and attys? Doesn't sounds like "the higher the better" - still seems like a sweet spot given the limited atomizer options. Powder coat while functional isn't remotely sexy though.

  • yeah , 11v is stupid... plain and simple. 5v = epic sweet spot.

    also TRON FTW!

  • Wow nice choice of words there. To explain, I ran mine to 11v because I wanted to test to see what it would take. It took the voltage and vaped like a monster for the time I used it there without blowing the atty(which is what I wanted to find out). Where would any of us be if it wasn't for trying different things? "Stupid" or "because we can" no, testing and striving to make better is more like it.

  • It's much appreciated people like yourself are willing to test the bounds, despite a nominal contingent who have shied away from even 6v. I can't exactly give a mod extra points for how impractical it can be configured ... on unprotected CR2 batteries no less. Still though it's a great mod, but when given the choice I'll choose mods that use protected batteries over ones that don't everytime. YMMV

  • Your original comment didn't mention/question batteries or reference protected or non, but voltage and what it would do to the atomizer. Again, I was searching for exactly that, atomizer integrity and how the juice would react and taste. Why you choose a device is valid, assuming that someone would hook a golf cart battery up to a AA device and question intent is another thing. But I do agree there is a sweet spot just under 6v for this device, and that it's best to use protected batteries.

  • Grimm! Grimm!

    MAH Stands for Milliamp Hours.

    P.S. Two more weeks buddy.

  • wait what? 2 weeks?! hit me up with a PM buddy

  • im review grim i am going to get a bullet for sure cant decid on big or small bullet has eny one heard of the indulgence by eastmall

  • I think it's rockin but want the ones that will have a USB port on it so it doubles as a passthrough, can't wait to see the followup

  • Now that the video is over...I can finally take my eyes off of the posters on the back of your door. Firstly I would like to say ur shirt is badass! Secondly the BB is fanfreakingtastic. Thirdly great review Grimm.

  • lol , i remember when Britney was hot... and so do you...

  • Hey Nick: The bb looks great! Hows the switch been treating you? If the switch holds up I'll have to replace my protege with one. the switch on my protege went out 2 weeks ago and had it replaced and it went out again. This thing is turning out to be a big bucket of crap. My wifes went out last week and got the new mech. switch and its just ok. My brother inlaw has sent his protege in 2x and it Quit again. My silver buttet is flawless so i'm thinking alt smoke forever. Great vid!

  • I've had my BB since it came out(end of November), been using it all day every day(generally 1 3.7v batt lasts me all day long with good vapor, can go a day and a half though), and I haven't had a problem with the switch at all. It activated in my pocket ONCE because I had a buncha crap jammed into the same pocket, would have activated any switch. Overall it's pretty much flawless.

  • @no1garbologist, I can't disagree, I won't talk crap but me and my mom both owned a Prodigy and they both repeatedly failed until I removed the resistors and replaced the switch with a better one.

I also refuse to spend the ridiculous 20-something dollars they're asking for a mechanical switch, considering all the trouble people have gone through with the Prodigy V1/Original Protege switch they should be giving those mech switches away for free.

    Altsmoke is the way...

  • VapingNinja- mAh = miliAmpHours (ie how long the batt lasts for, higher # = longer life).

Grimm- gotta try the PT for that baby too. I guess you can get adapters to run it at any voltage up to 12 I think- redonk!

Also, I'm nearly 100% positive its a machined button, after all Chad made the SB & as far as I'm concerned he's the PV GOD! Rob will be a lil upset you weren't using LiFePO4's though....

I wonder how long before Chad can build us a DBBB (double barreled)?...

  • wow that is small...

what dose mhh stand for by the way?

  • I got mine about a week ago and have vaped it from 3.7v up to 11v and I love it so far. I'm finding the button don't fire in your pocket. As far as the finish, it's powder coated and it isn't going to be easy to harm it. Wish I could have said I got mine for free though lol.

  • great review. i have a BB and is treating me great! Do you think you can post a good link to get cr2 batteries so i can run my baby at 6v!!!!!

  • The BB is so slick. I'm anxious to check out the Joker. Any word on it?

  • Awesome review man. I really want to try out the BB. im kinda waiting on buying a mod. at this point it is between the BB and the unresistored GLV, and the supersix. keep up the good work bro.

  • Yeah there are a LOT of mods out there. If you hang out long enough. There is a good chance I will have reviews of all of those

  • hahaha not surprising and good to know

  • Oh and by the way... somewhere deep in the ECF forums Chad said that BB was originally meant to be "Black Beauty".

  • Aren't these mods freakin' awesome?

I just got my dual atty SB top in the mail from Chad and it's just ridiculous, there are no other words, lol.

Great review man, I didn't realize that the Protege couldn't take CR2's.

Oh and, I know how you feel about the size, but how do you feel about the weight?

  • Holy crap I'm jellous of your dual atty SB

  • LOL, ask Chad about it!

I don't know how many more are being made, but it's essentially the price of half a silver bullet (but this could change, I don't know)

It's rockin dude, even 11mg is almost too much at 6v with two 510 atties, haha.

  • Black is a slimming color. DUDE! LOL Love your style.

  • Hi,

I like the look of it, but the button does put me off slightly. That and my wife will divorce me if I spend any more money on vaping equipment. :) Good first impressions and thanks for the heads up on my "shout out". Cheers. Andy

  • Thanks Andy , i was going to give you a "shout out" in this video... but i forgot... damn... well , maybe in the followup video

  • The only thing I worry about is the finish. I'm one of those guys that is very anal about things, and if I were to accidently knock this thing against something, or drop in on the floor and it chipped, it would drive me nuts. I saw (via video feed)the one Spikey had at the last vaper meet and the bottom was chipped up pretty bad. I look forward to your longer-term report to see how it is holding up.

  • if you want me to drop it ... i will drop it... just say the words ha ha

  • I knew you'd get one, homes. Awesome review. can't wait to get one for myself.

  • yep... dont go getting ahead of me.. might want to stay tuned for the nu-vapor FEBRUARY giveaway if you know what i mean... he he he

  • I want you to see how well it performs when you throw it agenst the wall from a distance of 5 10 and 15 feet. Then try and vape it underwater. Will it work upside down? ;)

  • smart ass...

  • since were on youtube i had to keep my stress tests suggestions PG unlike if you asked on the forums where i could have been a little more "Creative" ROFL

  • i'm not putting it up there camnaron...

  • damn you beat me vaders :@ lol

  • Gotta be quick my friend! :) Just blurted out on the tron reference , but damn the BB looks slick!

  • Number one to view and comment :) Great review as always. I for one am always looking for the best mod to use currently have the VP2 and a box mod made by a friend and have to say I love the 5volt mods the best. Loved my 3.7 VP2 until trying 5 volts and there just isn't any going back for me. Not sure if I want to jump up to 6 volt though have to wait for the follow up for you thoughts on this one. I was set to buy the v2 after your reviews on it but they where out of the 510 adapters.

  • there is a pretty noticeable difference between 5v and 6v... this will certainly be in my followup.

  • Dude!!! I`m liking the Tron T , you excited for Legacy as much as I am

  • holy crap Legacy looks amazing! so glad they got "the dude" back

  • "the dude abides" , must not quote anymore Lebowski

  • lol right before noticing you had a new review up I just added Lebowski to my netflix list to rewatch later tonight.

Have you seen the previews for Men Who Stare At Goats? Looks like he has a good role in that too lol

Good review as always. Really liking the added in pics lately.
