Tons of wrong information. There are causing a public ignorance. There are over Twenty theories, but Korean doesn't even know which is an otherdox theory. Chinese says Arirang was from China,and Japanese says it was from Japan during 2nd world war. Japan and China stole a lot of Korean cultures and properties. If we don't have internet now, Japanese and Chinese would say Boa and Samsung are Japanese, and Rain, North Korea and Hyundai are Chinese.

Yeah, I mean it's clear that "arirang" wasn't from either of those two countries. The song is much older than the 20th century, and the style of singing is very different from Chinese songs. The vocals are much more complicated, and one could make the argument that Chinese vocal chords physically aren't suited for it. It is no doubt a style & song unique to Korea & its people.

Arirang is the name of a hill path in Seoul. The song started in the Seoul region, but as it spread throughout the continent it evolved.

There's a theory saying that Arirang is an archaic inflection of the Korean word meaning "know", thereby meaning "who will know/understand me?" This interpretation fits with the original Jeongseon Arirang lyrics, but not sure if this fits in Miryang Arirang.

Wrong. Song started in other provinces, they think most likely in Gangwondo. The Gyeonggido version (often attributed to Seoul) is the newest of them all.

They also have no definite idea what the title means. I haven't heard this theory of it meaning "know" but I have heard that they believe it may come from "beautiful." There are also thoughts that it really means nothing and is just something made up for singing.
