Okay it sucks for one simple reason: you can't use it in office. Instead, learn to type faster. It's possible and it's easy and it will allow to type at speed fast enough to amaze others.
how many words per minute is normal speech? what range? some can type up to 90 wpm or more... but how much faster can the fastest speak AND be recognized by dragon?
@glorp896 Not sure exactly but typing essays takes twice as long for me. Whether it's being more prone to distraction while typing or whatever, it's just a lot easier to use this programme. For me anyway. I would suggest torrenting it first though before you buy it so that you can find out whether it works for you. Just watch out for viruses! The top-rated comment is showing where to go for a free tryout of the programme, so if you're willing to take the risk then good luck :)

@tarkinfish What you do is. Open dragon speech and on the toolbar it says words. Click it and click "new" and then you should be able to add a new word. If not google "How to add new words to dragon speech"
Does this program add in punctuations like comma's and apostrophe's? That's the main factor for me. My grammer skills are terrible and I'd want this program so I wouldn't have so many punctuation errors. Does this program add automatically the correct punctuation to complex sentences? And does it type onto like microsoft works, open office, or any writing program? Or does it have a specifc dragon writing program? And can I download it onto say my laptop and work laptop or just one? Please reply!
@ProRanting I have only used an older version. Even at that time it worked with any Windows application (e.g Word). You don't need a specific word-processor. From memorry, it does add the punctuation. The software has probably got better than the version I had. And computers are faster now so it should be more accurate.
A new version comes out in July (8th?) so wait for that if you can.
I have dragon speaking 11 and using a bright their directors. I said I'm using it right now to write this. It is absolutely terrible do not buy it it is usually a lot less active this accurate and and this is is is is best is yet at its best I said. All my Gabrieli. I said all my garden. I said oh my God. it is built in to most computers just go to control panel then go to sound and then click recordings and then right click on microphone then click configure speech recognition and then click start speech recognition
its true but the only problem is like the vista one, it doesnt know when ur stoping typing and when u want to do something else... takes a lot to get used to and i perfer typing ot be easier.

I want a female voice to be able to learn things as I tell her different things.. and I want to ask questions like: how many planets are there in our solar system?.. and she will search on wikipedia and take information from there, and she would tell me. First off yes, its stealing, plain and simple, the terms do say it is not permited to share, it specifically says that you may not share the software. That aside I download films and games and books even, I'm not going to pay about 60€ for a game I'll pay for a few hours, finish and never play again, if i was rich sure but I'm not.

This video is only half true. It has taken me a year to train myself to use this thing.
1) Have a ton of memory and a dual Pentium, or you're screwed.
2) Use a standard American dialect, or you're screwed.
3) Disable "commands", otherwise, when you say something like "The president selected the public option", this wacky software will "select" the words "the public option" and then delete them with the words you say after that.
4)Sometimes, it goes "wacko" and must be retrained. Awful.
@hometon1 yeah I definitely agree this program is amazing. I'm actually using Dragon right now to write out this comment. It helps me a lot with my homework too. Especially my English class. I don't have to dread the 10 page essays anymore. Dragon cuts down so much time in typing because now all I have to do is speak. I'm definitely loving it. This is definitely the best speech recognition program out there.
I highly recommend this program to anyone who is interested.

I am using the software right now. The major problem with the software is that it requires a pretty fast computer. At work I have a 3.2 GHz computer and the software works very well. At home, my computer is 1.6 gigahertz with 700 MB of RAM. It has problems starting, but once I'm talking within the program i want, it works like a charm. Other issues... we as humans take a bit of time to remember all the specific word commands. I need to use this software because of my RSI.

First off yes, its stealing, plain and simple, the terms do say it is not permited to share, it specifically says that you may not share the software. That aside I download films and games and books even, I'm not going to pay about 60€ for a game I'll pay for a few hours, finish and never play again, if i was rich sure but I'm not.

This video is only half true. It has taken me a year to train myself to use this thing.
1) Have a ton of memory and a dual Pentium, or you're screwed.
2) Use a standard American dialect, or you're screwed.
3) Disable "commands", otherwise, when you say something like "The president selected the public option", this wacky software will "select" the words "the public option" and then delete them with the words you say after that.
4)Sometimes, it goes "wacko" and must be retrained. Awful.

@hometon1 yeah I definitely agree this program is amazing. I'm actually using Dragon right now to write out this comment. It helps me a lot with my homework too. Especially my English class. I don't have to dread the 10 page essays anymore. Dragon cuts down so much time in typing because now all I have to do is speak. I'm definitely loving it. This is definitely the best speech recognition program out there.
I highly recommend this program to anyone who is interested.

Paid for itself. I use a USB mic though and its very accurate!.
I dont type docs anymore, I write (the old fashiones way), and dragon takes dictation.

this software isn't that bad. I'm using it right now and if you speak clearly, it doesn't make many mistakes. This is the first couple hours that I've used it and I haven't fine-tuned it yet.I'm using version 10

it's not bad but not worth it.
in time you type faster because Dragon Naturally speaking makes loads of mistakes and trying to correct it (either typing or correcting with voice)
actually takes longer.
and i recommend vista speech recognition.
(it's still ranked the best speech recognition engine and software on the market)

iv got Dragon Naturally Speaking 10. Its not bad but its not worth the money, just use vista or XP speach recognition.

I doesn't know the swears right off, but you can teach it anything you want.
I swear by this software; it has reduced my graduate school workload by a fraction.
It is AWESOME. But like anything else, it requires patience.

I bought this a while back and it is so bad that even Vista speech recognition does a better job. you will waste so much time proofreading and correcting the errors that it is absolutely worthless. oh and by the way if you want to ask them a support question it'll cost you

I am currently using Dragon NaturallySpeaking nine.I would not recommend this program to people with accent. However if you can speak concisely this program is quite excellent. She sells seashell by the seashore.

I am using the software right now. The major problem with the software is that it requires a pretty fast computer. At work I have a 3.2 GHz computer and the software works very well. At home, my computer is 1.6 gigahertz with 700 MB of RAM. It has problems starting, but once I'm talking within the program i want, it works like a charm. Other issues... we as humans take a bit of time to remember all the specific word commands. I need to use this software because of my RSI.
