All these die hard Tarja fans need to stop complaining, we've been over this. I love Tarja's voice, it really is beautiful and unique, but that is not what made Nightwish. Nightwish is the combined efforts of Marco, Emppu, Jukka, and Tuomas w a vocalist, and great music and lyrics written by Tuomas. Nightwish said they wouldn't have been able to continue with her, I prefer Nightwish w no Tarja than no Nightwish at all. And they didn't lose their fanbase, they just played their biggest US show.
NW with Tarja was great, NW without Tarja is not. Mostly but not only because of Anette.
Old NW had millions of fans, if they would still love NW they would crush the so-called 'Anette haters" on YT. Thing is, that most of those people are exactly those old fans.
About the new fans.. they are many, but let me refrain talking about people enjoying Anette's horrid voice and her missing note after note even in her own songs

In the end it's Tarja's manager/husband who comes off the worst. Tarja and the band just seem to be almost cripplingly reserved and incapable of properly communicating their needs to each other. It was her husband who created all the conflicts and she just went along with it.

Undoubtedly Tarja is a more powerful singer (and IMHO better) than the new girl. I read the termination letter they sent to Tarja after this show, and I would have done the same thing if I were Toumas. He is the main composer of all their material, and if the "voice" of your band was distant through all the creative process, demanding more money for shows, traveling separately, threatening to quit at any moment, and just being an all-around diva, I'd get rid of her too. Nightwish was and is an incredible band, regardless of who the lead vocalist is.
Tarja was awesome. I have, and enjoy, her solo material. And it is true that Nightwish isn't the same band today that it was in this video. But not being the same doesn't make them less than they were then. Some of the stuff they've done on Imaginaerum, they never could have done with Tarja.
One more comment, though: There are also some NW songs that Anette just can't do. This is one of them.
if you must say 'nightwish= [here a name]' it should be nightwish=tuomas. he write lyrics, music, etc. for THIS band. i always thought Tarja was his muse, but now she's gone and nightwish is still a wonderful band with new amazing vocalist. i don't get it - it's been so long since Tarja left, but people still can't get over it, even if both of them - Nightwish and Tarja - are doing incredible good.

@matyviola I say NEVER underestimate the role of the drummer in music like this. Without Jukka this song goes nowhere. I watch him every chance I get but the cameras rarely stay on him for more than a second or two. Very frustrating.

I would pay thousands of pounds to see this line-up again. I'm sure I'm not alone! haha. Someone invent a time machine already! I have to say though, whilst I don't like watching this - the whole Tarja giving it her all completely oblivious to the fate that waits her, when the band knows already - what a way to go out with her performance at this gig. Absolutely amazing!

Nightwish was and is an incredible band, regardless of who the lead vocalist is.
Tarja was awesome. I have, and enjoy, her solo material. And it is true that Nightwish isn't the same band today that it was in this video. But not being the same doesn't make them less than they were then. Some of the stuff they've done on Imaginaerum, they never could have done with Tarja.
One more comment, though: There are also some NW songs that Anette just can't do. This is one of them.

if you must say 'nightwish= [here a name]' it should be nightwish=tuomas. he write lyrics, music, etc. for THIS band. i always thought Tarja was his muse, but now she's gone and nightwish is still a wonderful band with new amazing vocalist. i don't get it - it's been so long since Tarja left, but people still can't get over it, even if both of them - Nightwish and Tarja - are doing incredible good.

@matyviola I say NEVER underestimate the role of the drummer in music like this. Without Jukka this song goes nowhere. I watch him every chance I get but the cameras rarely stay on him for more than a second or two. Very frustrating.
