Man, what year was this? Hardly ever seen interplay between Ritchie and Ian (or Ritchie and anyone, for that matter). Every time I've ever seen Deep Purple, you got the impression those two couldn't stand each other. Good to see they did have chemistry at least part of the time.
@rodentcafeteria According to an interview I saw with Ian, him and Ritchie were actually close friends and hotel roomates after he joined the group. Common interplay onstage would include both miming the Chuck Berry walk during Lucille. Oh well...
hmmm. some would say lucky guitar.. i would say that as well . anthing that has Mr. Blackmore's hands on it would prove to be lucky..... great talent love that band
probably the unique video.I was realy enjoing because of Ian and Ritchie..there was still reciprocal respect between them..you could feel that friendly ambient, inspiration and fantastic talent . many thanks for posting.
Thats a rare sight, and what was missing in the renion the chemistry between Gillan and Blackmore i was lucky enough to see them in the hey-day of 71/72 when they bounced off each other trading vocal screams for guitar notes that u couldn't tell which was which, taunting each other it was pure magic. Made in Japan captured them at their peak. Sadly the chemistry went and it was just loggerheads between them.
Ritchie was in a good mood here, but it's early on, on the 1987 tour. Ritchie and Ian's friendship gradually deteriated over the tour. On the 1988 leg, they hardly spoke to eachother, and presumably Gillan was "fired" after that leg of the 'House Of Blue Light' tour. Ritchie told Gillan that Clapton couldn't play guitar as well, which outraged Gillan.
And Ritchie wasn't lying. This only good music Clapton put was with Cream and he wasn't the main composer there. After dad all his music was crap, and if you see clapton play now, you can tell how many time he hasn't put to practice his guitar.
clapton is a very great gutarist if you guys just try to listen to some of hes music without listen to it just to find wrongs just try and you will understand with how much feeling Clapton plays with
@ElwoodBlackmore What makes Eric one of the greatest? Yeah he plays with feeling but so do many other, more varied players like Blackmore, Steve Howe, and Jeff Beck.
yeah i know for sure its blackmore hes my fav guitar player. yet i was just makin a point he always dressed in black. always. hes not wearing black here. i justthought it was strange...
'House Of Blue Light' Tour 1987/88. The Live album from the tour is called 'Nobody's Perfect'. Great Live album, but I wish they had included 'The Unrwritten Law' on it as well. Ian's drumsolo in that song was amazing.
what are you talking about, he used gillans shiny leather bum to make a slide like guitar effect, you can even hear it loud and clear. You can see gillan is a happy patner in it as he dances to it.
Maybe Gillan annoyed him by staying so close all the time, but Blackmore usually does something crazy during this solo, like in 1993 when he spills a glass of water over the TV camera. He used to be so childish...
does any one know what the beef was between the Blackmore & Gillian? , was it a few isolated incidents, or just a constant resentment ..based on what exactly??
@ssjumbo2 that was hilarious man, funny as hell. Blackmore pretended to have fun on the stage with Gillan, but in reality was saying to himself "I'm gonna get you motherfucker, how about electrocuting your ass?" hahaha
Ja Ja Ja, Excelente...
BLACKMORE arrodillado dedicándole sus guitarreos a GILLAN y después realiza un solo VERSÓN PORNO detrás de GILLAN.

What? And they didn't try to kill each other? A rare moment of love, indeed :)

@ssjumbo2 LOLOL - wouldn't it be nice if they could "get over it" before they die? Beautiful music together . . . .

i can't believe you just said that.
Eric is a one of the greatest. he plays with so much feeling i don't think BB King would say that clapton is a blessed guitarist for no reason.
