  • PHIL! <3 I loved this video. Thanks for sharing it with everyone!

  • LOVE THIS SONG.

  • akward moment 7:47 - 7:55

let me know your flesh xD

    Great song!

  • Peter <3

  • PG so young and so slim! :)) And you can see here that Phil Collins as a singer is an AWESOME drummer! Very good performance , Phil! And Genesis as a whole of course, as USUAl, with PG... !

  • 96 bitches!!

  • Man, the lyrics on this album were so imaginative and raw. P.S. Phil beats the shit out of that fuckin' drumkit, amazing.

  • Peter Gabriel is the best! In his era genesis were the best!

  • Comparing Peter Gabriel's vocals to Phill's is like trying to compare a great Bordeaux to Grape Soda...

  • Thx for that video!!

  • Peter was good but phil you are the man for the job!!

  • @captinfast I just like how Peter and Phil were just so in sync with each other =)

  • @captinfast Agreed, Phil's vocals are better

  • yes

  • 96 stupid didn' t know what i like :P ahah

  • Phil Collins was a hippy?

  • Who's that pretty girl?

  • @Gordy1201998 Totally ignorant

  • @TheMusicalGuitar7 And no sense of humor, that's not a good combination. ;-)

  • Just Excellent

  • absolutely brilliant. i love this song, peter gabriel, phil collins, and genesis.

  • Better group of musicians than the Beatles.

  • @jason25k agree but whos better p floyd or genesis

  • Genesis, I sold! Collins sad.

  • @FIP100IP Why is everybody blaming Phil for the pop direction Genesis went into? It was Banks and Rutherford who wrote all those hits and Peter Gabriel went even more pop (The album "So?" anybody?) and nobody complained about that.

  • la mejor banda y rola de rock progresivo de todos los tiempos!!!! lml, (mientras estaba gabriel con ellos)

  • @13Endgame20 Si.

  • Comment removed

  • I never understood why Richard Hammond doesn't like this song ._.

or atleast that's what I heard..

  • @talyashatzky You know......you are a gay club member

  • @DrSam309 Are you a fucking gay too?

  • @worldcitizengrendel Chupámela entonces....

  • I can see why Richard Hammond hates them. hahaha. :D

  • One of my favorite endings ever,so symphonic.... ;)

  • richards hammod hell song :P

  • Phil Collins was so much the centering force.

  • Peter Gabriel was such an innocent sould then.

  • really?

  • Everytime I watch this video it's like I haven't seen it before. I don't think I could get burnt out but just in case I might...I try to hold off on watching it for at least a month. Sometimes....I go a year. It has just blown me away all over again. It feels so good. Playing little games with it...like not looking at it for a whole day and then looking at it...to see if I still liked it...I DID.

  • Peter was so pretty :)

  • Richard Hammond?

  • yes ♥

  • ...back when Peter looked like a girl and Mike didn't get a perm yet.

  • Hmm, just came here as I'd never heard Genesis before and wondered what they were like. Not very good it turns out.

  • richard hammond anyone

  • Genial, thank you (first progressive rock song).

  • Average musicians with Gabriel's incoherent gibberish.

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds Don't like it? don't listen to it...

  • @kylebossify I listen only because I'm masochistic.

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds then you should listen to the doors..

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds As a good-hearted person, I accept your opinion. =)

  • Peter Gabriel's exaggerated sense of self importance is very obnoxious.

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds Hey Stoner you might be one of the dumbest persons in the world.

  • @nat00ben06 Oh yeah, well you're gay.

  • @StoneyMcJuicyBuds Criticising Peter Gabriel for self importance and offering Jim Morrison as an alternative is very stupid, especially if you throw the word "obnoxious" in as well. You've basically just defined Jim Morrison.

  • Hackett at 7:02 is so cool

  • Look at the tiny Peter Gabriel!

  • Look at Phil colloins hair... he had hair! Yes he hair... where it went we might never know... "Musical Box", from Nursery Crime, album... and a live version. No says anything about what the song about?

    What?

There is Musical Box... and yes... their is something in it. An evil spirit!. It is sitting in a\this Musical box and some quaint young girl comes into the room... with "The Musical Box." It is sitting in front of her. But, she is is smart. Why should I open you?

  • im dumb i didnt know phil collins wasa ever on drums with peter on vocals but he is on all there albums besides trespasshes a good drummer but he wrote a bunch af crap

  • what was the significance of the 2 taped together microphones?

  • @jaytotheell A major improvement in the quality of the vocal sound is due to the use of differential microphones. Each singer has a perfectly matched pair of Bruel and Kjaer microphones hooked up out if phase, only one of which he sings into. Any sound which goes equally into both microphones is canceled out when the two signals are added together. Therefore leakage of instruments and background noise into the vocal channel are minimized.

  • @Porly62 thank you for your very informative answer!

  • @jaytotheell for stereo

  • wow. tony banks plays keyboards and lovely 12 string guitar. the man has great talent!

  • This was a time when bands were really aloud to be experimental and push the limits of their abilities, the rec execs didn't know what to make of it or do with it but their fans did. They went out and bought records and went to concerts and fell in love. Peter Gabriel was just one of those guys that broke new ground not intionally it just was his creativity and we loved it.

  • Merci... bonsoir !

  • The Brits were always ahead of Amercans when it came to mega-technical prog rock music, at first anyway, with Genesis, Yes, Jethro Tull. Then America got going with Styx and Kansas, and Canada with Rush. Americans must have thought Gabriel was an alien or something with his costumes and this strange music! I was 12 years old in 1972, and was turned onto Tull at that time, then Genesis and the rest a little later. Parents were like "what the hell is that!? Same as me with my kids and cRAP.

  • I love Peter xxx

  • I remember flogging Nursery Cryme and Foxtrot for months on end, absolutely brilliant, legendary stuff. Couldn't wait to buy Selling England..GOD I LOVE GENESIS!!!

  • Nursery Cryme best album ever, nuff said

  • epic microphone move at the end there, pete XD

  • From one of the most wonderful periods in the history of music. Nothing like it, before or since......unfortunately.

  • @chuckfrasher agree

  • Gabriel..you are a genius!! Anything way better than what phil did after you left!! long live period of genesis!!!

  • ποιημα!!!!

  • Damn, what a beautiful moment in music history!

  • Is there a more creative genius than Peter Gabriel?

  • @chrismagic56 Yeah Jim Morrison.

  • It doesn't matter i had known this song on guitar(s) for more than 7 years, I will never be able to create such a beautiful piece

  • hmmm this surely makes my genesis obsession slowly begin again :)

  • They all look so pretty. :)

  • This is a great session, thank you youtube

  • Musicians at their finest.

  • Trente ans que j'écoute régulièrement les merveilles de cette époque et je ne m'en lasse toujours pas...

    Merci!

  • Increíble!!!

  • Brividi e pelle d'oca...

  • the best part is how Peter Gabriel acts "she's a lady, she's mine, brush back your hair... and let me get to know your flesh"...07:51

  • I think this is my favorite video on you tube.

  • @mshollyleeann mee three!! ~errr ummm.. I mean.. two!!. TOO!!

  • @mshollyleeann Absolutely. Without a doubt.

  • Loved Genesis with Peter Gabriel. I've watched this video many times and still get chills. So glad I grew up during this period of musical imagination(although I'm very happy that a select few including Peter Gabriel never lost their creative imagination) Thanks for letting this video live on for future viewers!

  • epic pretend grope!!

  • Where is great talent like this today??

I wanna buy a concert ticket...

  • grande peter gabriel

  • ehm i will make you doing things

  • This band is so underrated that it's almost criminal.

  • @ChocolateHoneycomb maybe it's underrated on youtube...but it's far from the truth. they are in the top 20 best selling artist of all time. So I don't call this underrated!

  • @MrFFwinner No one ever lists Genesis in top lists of rock bands, and a lot of ignorant people think that all of the Genesis pop music is Phil Collins solo.

  • @ChocolateHoneycomb Fuck Off. This is the worst music ever.

  • wow! what is your favorite band?

  • @NiiCFranke r u drunk? im sure you are

  • So outstanding beautiful!! And remembering me to wonderful old times. ... :)

  • wow, one of the best takes of this song ever. everyone is dead on. Steve Hackett is nothing short of amazing here. This is probably their best song and the final passage is one of the highpoints of prog.

  • Still not as good as "Driving the Last Spike".

  • As I heard, this original line up of Genesis were all classicaly trained musicians, which gave them that incredible technical cohesion. A lot of pressure was put on the guitarist Steve Hacket to play standing up, which no real Genesis fan cared about (in fact I thought it was realy cool that band members sat down & just played

Gabriel was a mime artist...which would explain his great theatrical performances. Awsome Band at that time. Who could play & perform like this.?

  • Genesis with Peter Gabriel is awesome! Chris Cornell knows about good music!

  • Thank you,Chris Cornell for being such a wise man and showing your audience this amazing music.

(Though I knew the song waaaaaay before.)

  • thanks Chris. his music changed my life.

  • the time when our brains were discovering the truth.....

  • This music makes you cry ,those memories of 70's.......Pure genious

  • Wow... vintage Genesis. Love The Musical Box! Such talent... we don't see much of this anymore. Stories told to music. Genesis, Yes, Saga... great stuff.

  • excelent

  • genius! loved so much that I may watch fourty times myself too!

  • Thanks Chris. 2 of the great voices too.

  • anyone else get directed here via chris cornell's twitter?

  • @chicagosportsmike yeh me :)

  • @chicagosportsmike i did ..lol then i stop the video and left ..

  • @chicagosportsmike Big Thanks to Chris Cornell, wow!

  • @chicagosportsmike I didn't see this tweet! That's amazing! Link?

  • @chicagosportsmike Cornell is awesomeand one of the greatest artests of my generation but i didn`t need him to lead me here. good to know he`s stil listening

  • @chicagosportsmike Chris listen to this? wow! great

  • @chicagosportsmike and I didn't think Chris Cornell could get anymore cooler. Did he happen to mention if the new Soundgarden album will be out soon? Also, check out the song Supper's ready by Genesis if you're new to them. You're in for a treat!

  • According to Wikipedia "Nursery Cryme" was released forty years ago on this date, Nov. 12, 1971. Happy Birthday! :-)

  • MUSIC !

  • They were all so young in this

  • Im 15 and think music should be like this not the jonas bro sellout crap

  • Excellent upload! I really enjoyed it!

  • Peter gabriel, phill collins, steve hacket...they just all couldnt survive without eachother in my opinion. Genesis formed a strong bond, that created one of the greatest bands in the world.

  • Please get back together. Just once. One tour.. please..

  • Quite possibly the best moment in the history of music.

  • Love Tony grooving back there

  • This IS by far my favourite Genesis video. I love Peter's facial expresssions, musical expression, the communication between himself and Phil...I mean they are bloody AWSOME! Peter is so expressive and has an air of complete innocence which I love and the sexual tension is unbelievable!

  • Theatricly creepy? I would call Peter Gabriel an innovative theatrical genius! I mean to meld theatrics and song so well together, how do you suppose he was able to do that? After Gabriel, Genesis though still good wasdefinately not the same band.

  • Pop music was heavily influenced by these prog bands....nobody would admit it, they just ripped of the spatial passages that prog so easily mingled within....slipped it into a pop song, and "wow", the pop listeners thought there idols were sooo creative. Prog opened the door to less limits in commercial production, so we all were spared songs that could have been even more bland..

  • peter gabriel is theatricly creepy

  • One of many great songs

  • That was so captivating. I've seen it before, but you know, you really focus... it's crazy. I love it so!

  • somente um idiota pra nao gostar duma obra prima dessas

  • I have not played a good game of croquet in years.

  • hello progressive fans hev a luuk plizzz

GARY MOORE - BLOOD OF EMERALDS, Polish Tribute to the Irish Guitar Legend

  • The musical complexity of Genesis is simply mindblowing!

  • Best album ever i say (Nursery Cryme)

  • 88 people are not merry old souls!

  • mike and the mechs was the only real thing that came out of that egofest from hell

  • music from another dimension. . . .

  • well I love good company, slow music, candle lights

  • Today's generation doesn't know what they're missing out on

  • Love me some Peter Gabriel.

  • Peter gabriel looks kinda like jon anderson. anyone agree?

  • @supercj8899

    Erm.....no.

  • @supercj8899 : You mean he has long hair too. Is that it?

  • @Gruntol5 ...nah, just forget what i said. :3

  • this is epic.

  • I bet Peter Gabriel got the chicks at this time..........wow he is badass!

  • Call me obsessed..but I have seen this performance at least forty times and still gets better!. How can this be? I have a life I swear, but this is by far the best FN performance I have ever seen! This is a pure Grade A Jam session' ! They don't make them like this anymore & Might I mention the exceptional talents playing those amazing instrumental sounds! Everytime I watch this my brain receptors go MAD! COS'..PETER GABRIEL IS GORGEOUS AS HELL!! Aye! And the performance is EXTRAORDINARY!

  • @eleni93003 YES! Totally agree.

  • @eleni93003 Absolutely! To ALL of the above. I'm with you. And my heart goes pittypat...
