Ive tried playing karthus with a will of the ancients directly after getting tear of the goddess + catalyst (boots too obviously) it actually works really well cos u do a lot of AOE with Defile so the life steal is suprisingly strong

My Karthus build is like this: Archangel's Staff>Archangel's Staff>Archangel's Staff>Archangel's Staff>Archangel's Staff>Rabadon's Deathcap.

You will have tons of AP and mana. i think you can reach like 1,2k AP with 4,5k mana

With Karthus I find using requiem just BEFORE teamfights to be more beneficial than kill staunching. Especially since it sets your team a good 1000 points of hp higher above the rest of the team.
