@SkateEmerica1990 Yes, the next National gathering is in Washington state. Look on Welcomhome dot o r g to find more info, There are also smaller regional gatherings you can go to. Washington's National gathering this year will be a great one. Washington was where the idea for the Rainbow Gatherings started.
You have destroyed my only child. You have brainwashed her into thinking that she doesn't even need a GED to get anywhere in life. She has dropped every dream she has ever talked about to join your cult! She says " I don't need a GED, I don't need a job to live free." Who in the hell actually believes this is true? You DO need an education to live in reality! Spirituality is something entirely different. I do not care what her spirituality is, if she is vegetarian etc., but an education...
@lessthn0 Sorry to hear your child feels she doesn't need an education. I wouldn't blame the Rainbow family for that however. It sounds like your kid decided that, not brainwashing. There are plenty of highly educated Rainbow family members. Kids tend to change their minds, you say she dropped her dreams, but she would say she changed them to a new one. I personally took my GED and went to collage a year early. I doubt your kid is getting advice to not get her GED, but is deciding it herself.
@lessthn0 That's your reality; she chose here, and it's a different reality. Let us see who'se reality is more accurate- for her. Che can always choose again- as can you sister. Peace.
@lessthn0 Sounds to me like your child went looking to find himself/herself and landed at Rainbow. I can sure think of worse places to be. At least in Rainbow land he/she will be looked out for by everyone at the gathering. And this is not a cult. There is no indoctrination, no leaders, just kind loving people all camping together. Your child will probably grow as a human in this environment more than they ever would have on the streets
I love you family! I have been following the teachings of Rahm Dass for so long...To find out that he is rainbow family as well just reassures my belief that things happen for a reason, and further more, that we are ALL equals!
I like that line, "This is a place where God gets a lot of work done." That is sooo true. I love the Rainbow Family - thank God for it- it has changed me forever for the better.
Wow! I'm going to have to go to one of these gatherings. I have been thinking about the sad nature of our society and how it can't keep going like it is. The people in this video know more about life than most people will allow themselves to realize. Why do so many people fear love?
@blkcpdconure Rainbow National Gathering. The consensus from the New Mexico gathering was for the 2010 gathering to be someplace in New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky.
Ah, is there anything more beautiful than human beings in their natural forms? I love to see the hair here, love to hear the drums. The Rainbow Family, indigenous tribe of the Earth! I love you.
oh you left out the torrential rain, smoky tipis, wet tents, freezing food circle and over cooked Pasta!!!! ^^ it wouldnt be a real gathering without all of that (I'm a rainbow babe, who grew up in it, can you tell?) XD i wouldn't be without it though, I wouldn't be me without you dear family xxx
Seems like a good set of folks to me. The way they chip in and help each other is what we call gadugi--you don't ask for anything in return, you just do the right thing and it works out :) it's about damn time.
Man, this is not anarchy, it's a hippie commune. But who pays for the "free" pancakes? Where do they get sanitation and medical care? This is a vacation spot, not a life. Where are these people when winter comes?
What is wrong with hippies and community? Does that automatically discount what someone does? The clothes they wear, and how people label them?
You said "I watched your video and commented. If my comment doesn't show up in your comment section (you screen comments) I will know more about you than you intend."
Well you just showed your intolerance and told more than enough about yourself. I clearly explain my policy of screening comments.
Oh, as to your screening policy, I hadn't been to your channel and seen that. My experience with people who screen is usually those who remove dissent. If that's not you, I apologize.
yes Largo64 doesn't want to understand, and I stopped trying to educate him. I made the mistake of thinking he was open to new ideas since he was asking if anarchism could work. The Rainbow Gathering is the best modern example of functioning anarchism. A pity some can't open themselves to new idea, but pretend they are.
@someweirdgayguy They are repulsive, diseased hippies that come, steal from people that are already poor.. living hand to mouth, then they get high.. fuck them all, I hope they die of ebola.
Everybody chips in what they can... some bring labor, some bring money, some bring food... the beautiful thing is that ALL are welcome. For many it may be the only welcome they get all year long....
"But who pays for the "free" pancakes? Where do they get sanitation and medical care?"
They pool their resources to buy what's needed, set up their own sanitation(just like all primitive campers), and some members of the rainbow family are licensed medical personel(RNs, EMTs,ect) who volunteer to provide care.
Yes there are all faiths, in fact much of Christianity goes very well with the ideas of The Rainbow Family, as do many of the other Religions. Most speak of love and peace, & that is the core or Rainbow ideas. There is a few "camps" specifically Christian & many pockets of Christians all through out. There is a belief of tolerance & it is frowned upon to belittle anyone else's faith, wether Wiccan, Muslim, Atheist, Christian, or Flying Spagegiti Monster. If it is sacred to someone is respected.
there is no past, there is no future, shun corporations, shun politics

We had a gathering in Missouri. Our social services took a big hit.
Medical expenses are taken care of by "free clinics" you have to support. Had plenty of pan handling .
But they took care of the area they used and left it in a very good condition.

@lessthn0
I have been going to gathering for 30 years
I am a medical doctor and have raised my family in the light if the rainbow
The Rainbow doesn't brainwash anybody
I have known many responsible people who are highly educated who go to the gatherings
I have known many who gained vision of their way through the gathering
that may or may not include an education

They're essentially living in an anarchic commune, though I'm not sure if they actually own that land or what the hell they're doing.
In regards to your questions:
I don't know the details of this specific community, but I can think of some solutions to those problems that are relatively obvious.
I could be wrong of course but you could be just dismissing this out of hand without really considering it?
