@t22films, yes, there were OC Sheriff, OC Marshals, Downey PD, Newport PD, Torrance PD, Orange PD and a couple of independents who paid their own way. I know at least one of them was hired on as a police officer with Torrance PD.
Went through an academy in 91 but got injured just before the end. I went in with an AA and didnt learn much, the weapon was a piece of crap .357 that spit lead. Alot of the recruits knew each other and I was from another county so going through a stress academy wasn't cool. Then you spend 5 yrs babysitting cons and wait to go on patrol. Go with a PD, its a better road.
Tyrobins, its tough to get hired but I can't tell you how awesome it feels to make it through the academy successfully. It's an accomplishment that a lot of people couldn't do and will create memories and bonds to last a lifetime.
Eric, the reason they treat new recruits like this is threefold. First, the weak recruits who can't handle stress need to be weeded out early on in the process. Secondly, by stressing a recruit out repeatedly, the recruit develops the ability to operate under stress and to think clearly under pressure. And third, the goal is to break the individual down and rebuild them as a team, to operate together as one rather than having everyone doing their own thing. Similar to the military.
@shawn1571, Ive been through marine bootcamp, all this yelling would problem make me laugh in the sheriffs academy because I would know what they are trying to do. You can't break a marine.
@DJKutler24 The state of Calif is lousy with them. Our infestation of badges in Calif is so septic there is little hope of saving the host. Please scoop up as much of them as you need and take them back to boot camp. Use them for canon fodder. Here their powerful unions have shut down democracy They kill any legislative bill that doesn't grotesquely pad their pocket. Sad isn't it? The people cops put in jail could never in a life time do as much damage to our once great state
This video is awesome. It has me pumped up. I'm going to background check right now for the Sheriffs office in my area. I'm looking forward to the academy.
@Tyrobins3 Me too! sort of I've decided to do to the environment what you becoming a cop does to our economy. I've got three cases of extra large canisters of the old style car air conditioning refrigerant R-21. Lets do it together! whatya say Tyron? You become a cop and I'll release all these canisters into the atmosphere. We can be a destruction team! You help destroy the state economy and I'll do what I can to fuck up the stratosphere. It feels good to get involved doesn't it?
This isn't how you should train the police. You shouldn't sit there and yell in their faces for months at a time, then expect them to be great friends on the outside. A lot of them will have power trips right when they get out.
@sadipolepg, in the US, there really is no difference other than their jurisdiction. Police officers are usually employed by a city, sheriffs are usually employed by the county, and troopers/highway patrol are usually state officers.
@shawn1571 In Riv Calif cops spent more on political influence in 2011 then in the previous 10yrs They've declared war on democracy With union money they own the state legislature Nobody gets elected without cop & prison union approval These civil servants are bankrupting the state but their unions are well organized and well funded We cant stop their destruction of Calif Ironic isn't it the people cops put in jail could never in a life time do as much damage to our once great state
@lmilostr I'm sorry it wasnt my intention to wake you from your TV One-Adam-12 delirium but your perception of cops shares little w/ reality Example:The badges that run county jails struggle daily w/ 1 problem after bed checks, roll calls BOREDOM because overtime's unlimited They resolve this issue by bringing backpacs full of video games with them to work A minor inconvenience they endure for the opportunity to take home O.T. checks double their 70K base pay. They're very happy people
@mperhaps Your correct. How dare someone work overtime "away from there family" and expect more money, shame on them. How dare these cop "be happy", shame on them too. And, the overcrowding of jails "illegal Mexicans in California" are NOT TO BLAME. Its those damn cops keeping them in check, fighting crime and collecting a check. Your right its the cops, I say fire them all, let the strongest survive in our community. Thanks for Not supporting the working man, your better then them I guess.
@lmilostr I'm almost willing 2 concede the point based solely on how much I enjoyed your level of sarcasm. That moves U ahead 5 bonus points @ the gate For resolution
the numbers from both issues would have 2 be on 1 ledger. Your first argument mentioned 70K salaries and now your using figures of 1/4 mil. so we're making progress. The illegal alien costs are eminence & difficult to calculate Clinton's NAFTA was a gift to 5 American multinational Corp's that effectively blocked Mexico
@lmilostr from competing in the commodities market. Preventing any remote chance they might have had to strengthen their economy and employ their own. 2/3's of the illegals here now can be directly attributed to Clinton's corporate blow job. What should concern you is how the Calif employee unions have locked up the legislature and essentially rendered your vote and mine useless. Regardless how we vote they can kill any bill that doesn't pad their pocket they R the enemy of democracy
@lmilostr Your right. During the industrial Rev working conditions were criminal Unions stopped the exploitation. Our current problems are the polar opposite of that era. Of course you love your representation as would I. I've met me, if I was union you can bet I would be the most vocal supporter, shouting from the rooftops that electing the most aggressive SOB 2 rob the general fund improves my position & I would spin it to sound like it's good 4 the country & all patriotic That would
@lmilostr be ignoring the elephant in the room. My ever decreasing accountability & endlessly increasing entitlements as a civil servant-regardless of the economy-is a burden on the state that's never static, it never decreases. It can only metastasize like a tumor. Brown's upcoming vote to increase taxes is landmark If the unions can pull this off. Game over, they own the state. Ask yourself when was the last time the blood sucking unions had any concern 4 the host it was attached 2
@lmilostr Private sector unions I don't oppose They're not the crushing weight that civil servants are to our economy. Poor decisions & greed of GM upper management is a tiny fraction of labor costs. Without unions 1910 conditions could return I agree but they must be made to understand competition or risk improving themselves out of a job. I'm a capitalist, indoctrinated against socialism but it is the free market that levels the field great for 3rd World labor bad 4 USA
@mperhaps Here's some history of why city workers wanted a union. Vacations were erased if you didnt use it, OT pay was erased, pay checks were late, if the boss didnt like you they would assign you some where else so they could get their "people". If you were mistreated too bad for you. Cities like companies play hard-ball with employees. Plus, when the economy is good NO ONE wants a city job, so the cities made it a little attractive to take the job. Now "we" are the enemy it seems.
@mperhaps Like the medical field if you stop paying a decent wage NO ONE is becoming a nurse or doctor. Pay city workers minimum wage and no benefits and see who you attract and watch corruption explode. Anyone making min. wage does not give a shit if they loose there jobs or give decent service. Yes there are problems but you seen to have a special hatred for unions. Next time your employer abuses you get a lawyer "retainer of course" and sue, good luck the justice systems doesnt care much.
@lmilostr You cruel bastard! With your logic and your civil tone Now what am I suppose to do? Can't kick the dog, ran away; wife left me. I'm naked out here without someone to hate. Hold it, here comes the mailman Look at him enjoying his inefficient bureaucracy He just thinks he's got his ass in the butter tub. I'm gonna bean'em with a rock. 1 question Milo, if I may:Is it accurate to say unions are the enemy of private business, that their policies aim 2 undermine private enterpri?
@lmilostr Thank you for your patience and I mean this sincerely: Its not too often that someone will have a rational conversation on u-tube and my dropping frustrated rant bombs in the comments makes it even less likely to occur but when it does I usually learn something. Thanks for your time.
@mperhaps Its OK to agree to disagree. I think all of your points are valid but there will always be an argument on the other side. I'm pissed that the powers-to-be set us up for failure. So many good people lost everything and I feel blessed to still have a steady job. Some of the corruption comes from govt, corporations, unions etc.. But in the end there are very good people working in these organizations but "we" just cant seem to effectively stop them from doing the wrong thing. Peace
To bad you don't spend more time training them right, instead of all this thug military cops bullshit. Be sure and teach them 42 USC 1983, otherwise they will be the typical bad cops.
@sadipolepg13 I find the Sheriff more fun and free... Did a few ride a-longs with Police and wasn't my cup of tea. Also, here in California, you can get your POST certificate and apply either as a Police Officer or Deputy Sheriff but most likely you will have to pay your own academy like I did about a year ago.... CHP (trooper) you need to go to a different academy and your certificate you get there is only for the CHP I believe and your already working for them so you do get paid from day one.
