  • I love all the caprices. They are show off pieces in truth but wow for all of them.

  • haha love the vfx on this clip =P

  • 0:40 HOLY SHIT

    SUPER MOVING!!

  • Makarov? The MW2 one? T

  • Sounds like this song is pretty much unplayable! At least a recording of someone who can actually play it is quite difficult to find.

  • @eggory I am currently learning the piece :) To make it easier, I pretty much break down all the 32th richochet notes into legato quarter notes...lots of patience.

  • @eggory Song ? Somebody was singing ?

  • pwwwaaaaaaa du fat :-)

  • パガニーニは、こんな感じだったんだろうな。。。

  • Dayam, Adam Sandberg got Skillzzz.

    Holla

  • @ChadWicKeD Niggaa betta' reco'nize!!

  • I dont care about this music ,but this is awesome!!!

  • @zounafin - as long as it makes you feel good, that's all that matters :)

  • He is the only one who plays this at the proper tempo... all the others play it at super speed! And no wonder - the piece gets harder the slower you play.

  • the best

  • Great performance, full of spirit and passion ... And - this caprice is prescribed as ANDANTE. The others have often mistaken it for PRESTISSIMO ... resulting in robotical soul-less speed race

  • sarah chang does too

  • and for all those jokers out there who say you are not legit if you use a shoulder rest, markov does!

  • Why do I heard the thunder?

  • the asian girl that plays this is better.

  • If i said of course she would be would that be bad?

  • ask her and find out.

  • @QwertyAzerty2009 gotta come a little more specific than that hah

  • WTF Oo

  • Damn, his stage performance is amazing; such passion. And you can actually hear every note when he's playing too. It's not so fast that it's all muddled together.

  • He is the vest of best

  • pun

  • Comment removed

  • open your ears my child

  • really cool

  • Who is he?

  • Alexander Markov

  • I have to admit this rendition with this particular saltato bowing that actually articulates all 4 strings is difficult. Markov pulls it off with brilliance but not my cup of tea.

  • 0:57!lol!

  • I heard it, a weeeee bit sharp! ;)

  • Wow - you must be desperate!

  • Are you kidding me!?

  • holy crap

  • Wow. That was crazy. This is now my favorite version!

  • me too!

  • I imagine paganini in his grave either laughing because he thinks markov overreacts or applausing him.

anyway, he is dead and we shall never know...perhaps is better that way

  • I imagine paganini not laughing or applausing, because he's dead.

His music shall forever outlast those who can play it/

  • i think i agree with you

  • echo lol... anyway, its called reverb. In a location like this, its about 1.7 seconds.

  • se siente Paganini el pobre diablo

  • Il diavolo apre la bocca e io ci cago dentro!!

  • Just search "Paganini 24 Caprices sheet music" on Google. You don't have to rely on other people to get sheet music for you that way.

  • Fine. For #1, Shlomo, Shlomo Shlomo. Doesnt get better.

  • Shlomo is good no doubt but everyone gives colours to such virtuosity like this one.

  • True, true, and it is harder at this tempo to control. Something Markov does very well.

  • personne ne joue caprice no 1 mieut que lui !!!!!!!!!

  • Good sound but his technicality makes it sound quite boring and not as impressing as Paganini must be played like! I am sorry! I am an italian violinist and I have no doubt in my mind how Paganini has to be played :)

  • it is because he plays in a theater and the echo of it.if he plays it faster no one will listen all of his notes

  • Not really. When designing theaters and what not, the architects take into consideration those types of things. If echo truly were a problem, then it must be a poorly designed theater.

  • really if u play that fast

  • No one knows how Paganini played. The fact that you are Italian means nothing.Alexander Markov is one of the few that bring to our mind Paganini. His fierce and weird playing but also looks and body language MAY have a connection with Paganini's.BUT THAT'S ALL.

  • The best interpretation of the Paganini´s capricces! Markov is great!!!

  • if you really think that then you haven't listened to artists like repin or gidon kremer or michael rabin. markovs ok but his interpretation is kind of boring

  • Yes I did, they are amazing too, but Markov is special for Paganini

  • *****

  • My ricochets can NEVER bounce that high. Crazy bow Markov's got there.

  • well his bow is probably 100,000 dollars also!...taking nothing away from his ability...

  • he missed a part at the end...gr8 playing tho

  • paganini caprices are mission impossible IV

  • Fantastic control...

  • markov ,,he..looks like a real paganini!!

  • I agree! Amazing performance!

  • me 2

  • @musicStoneD absolutely true!

  • "Adante", while technically correct, is a bit of a misnomer here. Well played.

  • Your ears must be broken then, because he actually plays it slow...

  • It's good, but this piece isn't usually this fast. Paganini caprice 1 is andante, but Markov does this atleast allegro (sounds presto to my ears though). He plays it good, but i prefer it slower.

  • Shit, please don't read my last comment. I had to check this piece from note's and yes...it's andante, but its 32th notes, not 16th as i remembered.

  • I'm glad you were misinformed as your comment was getting a little akward. It's cool.

  • how does he get that spiccato effect just by rolling the bow...

  • its a bow technique called riccoché.

  • yeah, i understand that bit... but what i dont get is that its seemingly rolling but he is still able to produce that riccoche effect?

  • try it, it's actually easier than it looks.

    for me at least.

  • it proablably also has to do with the fact that his bow is probably worth more than any of us make in a year (within reason of course)

But yeah, he does have one of the most incredible techniques I've ever seen

  • I don't think the bow makes ANY difference! It's the arm and the brain!!

  • When it comes down to it, YES you are absolutely correct. I don't mean to sound like your equipment should take the place of skill and ability to do what you have to do. Don't get me wrong. But the truth is, bows are different, violins are different, and violinists are different.Trying a whole bunch of bows, you will probably find some that you can really nail a technique with and some that you just have trouble with. I guess you could tell a master by how well they adjust to new equipment...

  • he have a wonderfull control of the bow

  • Very controlled and at the proper tempo - not too fast like most others..

  • fuck!

  • very nice...check also tedi papavrami

  • look at his right hand move

  • That's the best #1 I think I've ever heard- jusst goes what control of tempo can do for conception of interpretation and timing. BRAVO!

  • I think he is the best Paganini player in the world at the moment.

  • if michael rabin didn't die i'd totally disagree with you. unfortunately,he is so i completely agree with you

  • my favouryte ...caprice

  • In the score the tempo is indicated as ''andante''.I think this version is in perfect tempo.(But too much rubato in the G mayor part)

  • the '72 Perlman version is faster

but i actually don't mind this slower version.

you can hear the individual notes clearly.

it's a tad bit more sweeter that way.

  • hes possesed

  • its alexander markov lol

  • what an interpretation!!!

    loved it

  • daha iyi çalanlar var...

o kadar büyütüldüğü gibi güzel kemancı değil

  • It´s ALEXANDER MARKOV.

  • Classic example of how style and spirit can overcome minor technical glitches. Now this is what you call a performance.

  • Awesome preformance... especially for a live first shot. I do agree the audio could have been better.

  • Is he Shlomo Mintz?

What a great artist. The audio is not that grat, btw...

  • No, I think it's Alexander Markov.

  • I think that faster is easier for the right hand...very good!

  • Exactly, if he wants to cheat out of the difficulty and make it seem to those that are uneducated that he's making it easier, its his choice I guess...

  • Nice chops!

  • thank you for sharing!!!!!! wonderful!!!

  • he's magnificent!!! Thx very much for the uploader.

  • think that bow control comes from heifetz tuition

  • it's better for the acoustics in a hall like this to play it slower

  • I play at a even slower tempo, but I can't figure out how he did it at almost the tip of the bow and still was able to play it slowly. Great performance!

  • creo que el mejor capricho nro 1 sigue siendo michael rabin, es perfecto y no se luce tanto como este

  • i'd expect he did

  • markov won the paganini competition.

  • I Have de DVD and its amazing... I never heard that one of the famous violinists played all 24 live...and it is played live. he got balls and they are huge!

  • Hey What's the title of the DVD?

  • Paganini 24 Caprices

    Alexander Markov

    A film by Bruno Monsaingeon

And the Background doesn't change if you watch the DVD you will see that there is a white Background in the hall. It is definitley played live and he won the gold medal in the Paganini competition.

  • Student level performance.

  • this is the real tempo, only noob wants to be faster and faster

  • Totally agree

  • I agree too..but maybe many people don`t know that it is really much harder to play this caprice slowly

  • Oh God YES... This stroke is MUCH tougher to play slower... O_o

And THAT's why I always play it fast..XD

  • this isn't live is it? the background changes, which leads me to believe that he recorded it in a studio or the same hall afterwards.

  • tebrık edıyorum.guzel calmıssın.ama ızthak perlman sana bın basar. cok yavas calıyorsun

  • has to be faster come on!

  • Why does it have to be faster? Because you want it to be? Man why do people think the world has to cater to them... Dirtbag

  • Too much echo and you can't hear it. I'm sure he did it at this tempo because of that.

  • you try playing it at this tempo.. it's harder bro

  • Yeah man eventually im gonna slow down to that tempo ..

    that's my goal ;)

    But it's difffficult... and rewarding..

  • Retard... Faster? Retard... Then its too easy

  • necati rulzzz !!
