I began my love affair if you will with Saturn just as the brand was starting to die in 98. In 1998 Saturn was for the most part still an independent sub division of General Motors and free to operate outside of the GM umbrella. Unfortunately, as GM starved Saturn of resources for new product development over 10 years, many customers had moved on. GM brought Saturn back into the fold, destroyed the special labor agreement, removed the polymer panels, and ultimately killed Saturn. Don't buy GM !
my first car was an '02 sl1 and i couldn't be happier with it; it's small, simple, and gets great mileage. still, when i talk about it, i always get the reaction "...it's just a saturn."

Yeah, I know, but now they're just like every other GM car.
If I was going to buy a Saturn, I want a little plastic car that gets 40 miles per gallon (the one in the film got 43.5 MPG last tank)
