Eva Peron was a great woman. She exceeded what "those above her" thought she could accomplish. It takes alot of guts and vigor to overcome the hand that is dealt, and Eva Peron was a trooper/chingona/femme fatale and she deserves the respect of humanity. God is her ultimate Judge!
The difference between that and the many men in the western world that crawl to their boss to get a promotion or to their woman to get a bit of coochie??? In fact I have seen many more men that are arse lickers then woman that sleep their way anywhere...
@shanekennedy1977 I don't agree with the manner in which he expressed his opinion but I have been to school, I have nothing more to study on this historical figure and historically she did prostitute herself, nearly bankrupted the Country while she became wealthy. she was a strong supporter of Hitler and the nazi party which is why many sought refuge in Argentina after the war. Good video footage however.
What a woman! Even before death she's fascinating. I read a book called "Santa Evita"... in it, the author tells about her body embalmed and all the mythology around this. She truly inspires me!
I find Eva and Juan Peron fascinating historical figures. I once spoke to a client of mine that grew up in that era and when I asked him what he thought, his statement was "She cared TOO much for the poor people but did GREAT things for them". True in a sense I guess.
She was such a complicated woman. She loved "her people" so completely, and yet helped to bankrupt it. She was a product of her sad childhood and a re-invention.She was ignorant(lack of formal education) yet very intelliegent. She was beautiful. She was young. And she was so loved by her people. It's a great video. As for the folks who are annoyed by the viewing of her corpse,my Mom saw the remains on a news reel,at the movies,in 1952.Get over your hypersensitive self.
I can feel the grief these people feel. Eva was at the time, the Argentinian people's beacon of light, their Hope for a better Argentina. When she died, they lost that Hope so they felt deep grief.
I come to this presentation from time to time just to remember what it was like standing in the rain with my mother and father. We waited most of the day for there was so many people wanting to say goodbye to the Senora. To this day (and I am old now) I have never seen any incident of grief more than that witch was evident and in the people's faces at this time.Evita was loved and adored by us all.My mother and father have been gone now for several years.I believe that they are all together.
what amazes me if she was so hated, your video gives us the complete opposite, she was as much loved as Catherine the Great was by Russia, i believe there is much more to the bitterness and love then the people of that country wishes to admit. thank you for allowing this to be viewed
She was a public figure. She is a part of history. Her body was on display for viewing to her public. There is nothing wrong with showing a video of it. It's a part of history. Those who are offended need to get over it or perhaps not watch.
I also was there at the time.At 13 years old emotions over her death I did not entierly understand. My parents have passed away many years ago. They never forgot her birthday or the day that she died. They worked for her at the Foundation. One thing that I have never forgotten is the silent weeping that was on the faces of everyone (and there was millions) who were present at the funeral. It was, well, beyond words.I believe nothing has ever been like it in the history of this world.Never forgotten.
@GRAYBARN1 Your parents worked for Evita?! You are a lucky man to have that privelege. I'm happy that your parents knew Evita and that you might have met her yourself. I met Evita in my dreams this January and she was all smiles, as if she never died. Viva Evita!
Excellent video and excellent musical background. About "Santa Evita", well it is my habit not to speak ill of the dead. Argentina has not yet recovered from the cancer of Peronism.
I saw her from a fifth floor balcony in the Hotel de la Paix at the corner of 9 de Julio. The funeral cortege lasted over 14 hours.Massive flower cars, people crying their eyes out, tanks, ammunition trucks, more flowers and more military and civil mourners until late into the night.I saw her glass coffin in the way to the place where millions went to say good bye to their adored leader.Like I'll never forget 9/11 I will never forget Evita's amazing funeral parade.Good or bad she was loved!!!
Very touching tribute. From what I've read, she has done a lot of great things for her people during her time. I can understand why Argentina still misses her. I know I would be the same way.
I am old enough to remember our president's (FDR) funeral.I can safly say that EVA'S was the largest and most sad I have ever seen.I also believe that in the recorded history of the world nothing like this event ever came close. She was truly loved.God really has blessed her.VIVA EVITA

I'm British but actually I prefer Evita to Diana because whatever she achieved was entirely with her own resources. Diana was born into privilege and never had to struggle.Akso I believe Evita REALLY understood her people because she was born poor. She could empathise. I don't think Diana really understood what it is to have nothing.
@mahler71 I think that they were and are both beautiful people both outside and in, and that they made incredible contributions to charity and their countries and their people. Even just their images are enough to inspire people, and their stories are sensational. they were fashion icons and they were powerful, and they have both left an amazing legacy. I think it is wrong to try and undermine one by saying one is better than the other.
@xpo50 It was not charity. It was Social Justice. There is a big difference between the two terms. Charity is given by the rich to the poor. Social justice is a conquest of the poor despite the rich.
@mahler71 but at least diana is a princess and she still cares for underprivileged people..even though she got resources she still manage to share it to people
This is fantastic, can I ask where you found this footage and if you know anything about copyright issues regarding this footage? I have some friends who want to use some footage from this time in a show...
@evaperonsuclks Lady Diana Spencer was born in a Royal bed.She married the most important man in UK.All the world looked at Her with great simpathy only for that reasons. Evita was born poor and bastard. She was hated by the rich and middle-class people of my country, because she tought the poor people they deserved the same respect, and had the same rights. We can't compare beneficence with social justice. The two deserve respect and love, but they aren't the same
@evaperonsuclks exactly correct. Also, Lady Di was Anglo Saxon, and ANglo Saxon cultures do not exploit the poor, the minorities and women the way the Hispanics do-- at least not as badly. Not saying we're perfect. But we're more accepting by several light years of those that are not white straight males than Spain or Latin America.
@evaperonwasbad Spain's not that bad, they allow gay marriage and they're SLIGHTLY more respectful of women than Latin America. But you do make good points.
@evaperonwasbad europeans and north americans support their ways of life at the cost of the hunger of the rest of the world, our popular movements are emancipation movements, and evita was one of the greatest women in the history of the world, she forgot her own life helping the people, and the people will never forget her
I am Argentinian, you are not. I knew her, you did not. You are being irrespectful with the memory of one of the woman that most did for the poor. You are right, perhpas she is not alike Lady Di. Not better not worst. She was so much alike to Mother Teresa.
@gondorado1 I agree that he's being disrespectful, however one does not need to be Argentine to know and learn the true story of Evita. In fact, I think being outside of Argentina one has an advantage because they do not look at her either from love or hate and can look at her objectively.
not argentinian but I would have been able, I am mixture Basque-German and I was rejected, but I think that Avoided came from poor middle and for the people she remains the poor small humiliated audacious girl who with courage reaches very above and even if she makes the worst the Argentinian people acknowledge his child and even dressed of the richest dress the people see a child of the street who has the right to his princess's dream.
@gondorado1 In fact, I think me not being an Argentine has given me a better rounded view of Evita, rather than just a Peronist or anti Peronist view. Don't get me wrong, I love Argentina though and I even consider it my second country.
This was a very interesting video compilation. I was happy to see color footage. But who is singing Ave Maria in German?? It was a singer with a very beautiful and trained voice. Beautiful.
When /where did the part around 4:00 take place? I was wondering if it was at the second Cabildo Abierto on Aug 22, 1951 at the Ave 9 de Julio where she said she needed time to decide on her candidacy or if it was Sep 28, 1951 at the Plaza de Mayo when Peron talked nicely of her and she fell into his arms crying? Anyone know?
My bad! The Plaza de Mayo event was on Oct 17, 1951. Nonetheless...anyone know? Just read Marysa Navarro/Nicholas Fraser's biography about her and was wondering.
If I am not wrong, 4:00 is a chain of prayer that people realize when she was very sick. The other question i dont understund, my english is very bad...
No seas tan fanático.
it's a great video! she was so loved and still loved i went to her grave last year a there's still people who leaves flowers to her... i'm from argentina and think that all the presidents around the world shoul try to be a little more like her
Outstanding video. I just watched the movie musical last Wednesday and I was in tears. This woman was amazing. Even watching this video, I had tears in my eyes. She is an absolute inspiration to me. Thank you for sharing this footage.
The more historical footage I see, the more impressed I become with the attention to detail Alan Parker and his crew were able to art-direct to such presicion.
am an asian, i dont know her until i saw the movie last 1996 and was fascinated, she is really incredible, hollywood will not give a damn if she's nobody!!
great video! Even for those who don't have a big love for Evita, as myself, she was, without any doubt, a woman who left a trace and was loved by milions of people. My respects.
Such a heart felt video, so so sad. When you think that this happened 57 years ago and that to so many of us it is still so emotional to see this wonderful dynamic woman so frail and to this day, tears fill my eyes every time I see her embrace Peron and bury her head in his chest. Evita, forever in my heart.
Did this show in 2003 with a 8 show run at UMass Dartmouth and was cast as one of the Generals to Peron and Evita. The cast was very strong with Shandy Monte and Jen Dushane alternating as Eva. I adore Eva Peron, and have done nothing but research her life since my first taste of Argentina.
What great footage of how argentiens loved and still love evita she reminds me of our queen of hearts Diana princess of wales in many ways they will both be missed and never forgotten, Evia seemed to have had a similar funeral yet a example how loving and also humane and loving, dignified both were and it was a celebration of both ladies life's both women will never be forgotten by anyone RIP Evita RIP Diana. thxs for putting this video on
Any further reference on that colour footage will be much appreciated (BBC?). Actually, I'd be more than happy to know about anything still/moving colour images from Argentina, from that time or even before. LIFE has released a handful of pretty colour pictures circa 1950s

I am so very glad you took the time out of your obviously busy schedule to comment on this video.
May I ask that you go back to school or take some courses before you try and be smart and write comments which defame a persons memory.
I do not like you. I do not care what you think and I certainly could not give 2 fucks what you will write back.

Evita was born poor and bastard. She was hated by the rich and middle-class people of my country, because she tought the poor people they deserved the same respect, and had the same rights. We can't compare beneficence with social justice. The two deserve respect and love, but they aren't the same

ANYULA 1 year ago 4
@evaperonsuclks exactly correct. Also, Lady Di was Anglo Saxon, and ANglo Saxon cultures do not exploit the poor, the minorities and women the way the Hispanics do-- at least not as badly. Not saying we're perfect. But we're more accepting by several light years of those that are not white straight males than Spain or Latin America.
evaperonwasbad 1 year ago
@evaperonwasbad Spain's not that bad, they allow gay marriage and they're SLIGHTLY more respectful of women than Latin America. But you do make good points.

@evaperonwasbad europeans and north americans support their ways of life at the cost of the hunger of the rest of the world, our popular movements are emancipation movements, and evita was one of the greatest women in the history of the world, she forgot her own life helping the people, and the people will never forget her
luchoas68 1 year ago
I am Argentinian, you are not. I knew her, you did not. You are being irrespectful with the memory of one of the woman that most did for the poor. You are right, perhpas she is not alike Lady Di. Not better not worst. She was so much alike to Mother Teresa.
gondorado1 1 year ago
@gondorado1 I agree that he's being disrespectful, however one does not need to be Argentine to know and learn the true story of Evita. In fact, I think being outside of Argentina one has an advantage because they do not look at her either from love or hate and can look at her objectively.
evaperonfan 1 year ago
@evaperonfan
not argentinian but I would have been able, I am mixture Basque-German and I was rejected, but I think that Avoided came from poor middle and for the people she remains the poor small humiliated audacious girl who with courage reaches very above and even if she makes the worst the Argentinian people acknowledge his child and even dressed of the richest dress the people see a child of the street who has the right to his princess's dream.

@gondorado1 In fact, I think me not being an Argentine has given me a better rounded view of Evita, rather than just a Peronist or anti Peronist view. Don't get me wrong, I love Argentina though and I even consider it my second country.

Anyone know?
streepology 2 years ago
My bad! The Plaza de Mayo event was on Oct 17, 1951. Nonetheless...anyone know? Just read Marysa Navarro/Nicholas Fraser's biography about her and was wondering.
streepology 2 years ago
Fake biographies. Read the biography by Tomás Eloy Martínez, Santa Evita -I do not know how they translated it-. It is very accurate.
gondorado1 1 year ago
@gondorado1 Santa Evita is a novel, and it's about her death, not her life. I'd recommend the biographies by Navarro and Fraser and A.D. Ortiz.

eirino0369 1 year ago
No seas tan fanático.

Such a heart felt video, so so sad. When you think that this happened 57 years ago and that to so many of us it is still so emotional to see this wonderful dynamic woman so frail and to this day, tears fill my eyes every time I see her embrace Peron and bury her head in his chest. Evita, forever in my heart.

julitozoo 2 years ago 4
Saludos!
