I really love Xara website-creating software.

I've got Xtreme 5 as well as Designer Pro 6 and 7

The only problem I've got with the product is the

lack of systematic training on how to use the program effectively as a unit.

I think a better approach is to build a test site using templates as well as from scratch using all the tools of the suite ( header; logos; pictures;text;menus etc). This would be a better that workshops on various unrelated parts of the program

I would love to use that. Native on the MAC with the MAC file system and user interface.

It's an amazing piece of software.. I used to have a vector drawing package called professional draw, some years ago. Xara now has the features of that suite that I missed. It is truly mind numbingly good.

Really like the snap and guidlines for aligning objects. It will make it easier to build tables.

Also like the object eraser for removing undesirable objects in a photo and filling in the void.

Hi, is it possible to lock two nodes of a shape so that when I stretch the other parts of the shape, the two nodes wont be stretching together?

@nacah No. But you can use the shape editor tool to select which nodes on a shape to move. Just select a shape, select the shape editor tool and drag a marquee rectangle over the nodes you want to select. You can shift-select/deselect other additional nodes.

I'm really happy this software is actively developed again, but I can't help but wonder why all these fringe features are being written in favour of addressing core issues. I'd like to define my own dash-patterns, arrow-heads and profile curves. I want to be able to 'scale' dashes and arrows because now an arrow head is either too large or too small. This should be basic stuff for any Vector graphics package, but Xara is still lacking it.

@DavidMTRutten It’s debatable whether the newer features are actually 'fringe' or are simply “not what I personally wanted”. You can directly control arrow size since V6 using the Line tool. Other line manipulation features you speak of should be proposed to Xara directly using the “Dear Xara” forums at TalkGraphics. The more requests that are explicitly made there, the higher the chance that a particular feature will be developed in their finite time.

@XaraXhris, of course there's the personal aspect, but Xara was not originally an application for pixel and web-based stuff. This all came later. In that sense the new stuff can be categorised under 'fringe'.

I've written to the Xara developers several times already (in fact ever since !Artworks on RiscOS), but nothing seems to be happening on this front. In fact, for the work I do (mostly icon design) Xara has actually been getting worse lately.

@DavidMTRutten I’d again recommend that you list a summary of your desired features on the Dear Xara forum. These forums are looked at by the developers, and they have explicitly said recently that the probability of a feature being bumped up the list for development is increased by the number of requests made there.

I'm interested in how you feel Xara has gotten worse for icon design recently. Is there a bug or explicit retrograde?
