I have a Red Nosed American Pitbull & he'd never hurt me or my family, we treat him like a king, but i dont blame ppl for being scared of them, coz pitbulls were bred to kill & hate any animal & to protect its family so it naturally hates strangers. I own 2 American Staffy's who are closely related to pitbulls(actually under same registration). They are the most lovable, soft natured dogs. I also knew a full bred pitbull who was gentle, and in no way agressive, a 2 yr old girl could sit on him and pull his ears and he would just lay there wagging his tail.

I have been watching alot of these videos for a while & my heart aches, breaks. I have 2 pits. One I rescued he had been used as the decoy to get other dogs to fight. He is scarred his spine curved & severe arthritis. BUT this is one of the most affectionate loving dogs I have ever had in my life. The other was a friends but she was moving and couldnt take him. BSL is wrong. It is the same as race gender social sexual religous etc discrimination. We need to all fight against this.

She was always affectionate, never bit...until...some guy tried to take me, she almost took his arm...she was labeled as "viscious" and she protected me from a kidnapping. The neighbors had a problem with the battle to keep her. While we were away, they shot her with an arrow. I'll never forget coming home to her dying. Mom tried to take me from her, but I held my dog until she was dead. I hope she knew how much I loved her and still do...

Please check your facts before you post silly things. The AKC administers Standard Temperment tests to ALL breeds of dogs. Pit Bulls scored 87.3%. Golden Retrievers scored 82.4%. Labradors came in at 81.6%. What does that tell you? It's all about responsible pet ownership. There are TONS of dog attacks involving ALL breeds every day. Only "bully breeds" make the news. Go figure. Punish the deed, not the breed.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. While living in Australia I'm sure you have seen your share of Australian Shepherds. You have probably also seen them instinctively know how to herd. You completely misunderstand the background of these dogs -- they were specifically bred NOT to be human-aggressive. In the old-time pit fights, a pitbull had to "break" his hold, no matter what, when ANY human tapped his back. Any that even turned and snarled at a human would never see a ring again. As farm dogs (their main other use), they were usually the farmer's housemate & "right-hand man." Someone has to really be a piece-of-shit owner, or breeder, to make him otherwise.

Dog rescue can be one of the toughest things anyone can do. The emotional pain is brutal, seeing these dogs and then trying to find good "forever homes" for them. And you cannot take them all in, and have to look at those you leave in the shelter. It's awful at times, but you just have to look at the ones you save.

When it gets bad, just look at the ones you kept. They would have died lonely and afraid years ago, never having known love, but you gave them a long, happy life. Look at their faces and remember that. I guarantee you that they remember it, and thank you every day.
