He says in the beggining (around 0:13) that this is the new slider system that REPLACES Medeco's famous "biaxial" pin system. (the biaxial means they have to be rotated. Not all Medeco have biaxial pins. They DO however have hardened steel plates which make drilling tough. I drilled one yesterday though anyhow ; ) ... The biaxial system seems a lot harder to beat than this lame side bar that is really nothing revolutionary in the lock world.
If I understand, you can only make 3 keys for a M3 lock. What about the 10 to 15 minutes? I can try to break it appart, or something and it will resist to my destruction for 10 to 15 minutes?
You can't know much about security if You are calling Marc Tobias a Twat, He's among the top 10 in security, I'm sure we'd all agree that You are a TWAT and and ignorant one at that.
Do Your research first before posting a comment because you are the one that looks foolish on here now, Just because You "Cook" Your locks doesn't mean everyone else does, Only "Losers" do that.
Thanks for that informative video marc, Keep them coming.
The most secure lock i've come across is the Abloy Protec but others include:
Dom Diamant
Kaba gemini
Kaba Penta
CES
Evva MCS
Evva 3KS
All of these locks are considered to be unpickable but i've yet to see an un-pickable lock, What I can assure You is that You would have returned home before they are picked and catch the little sod in the act.
A bit of advice, Import Your locks from europe as they are much more secure against force and picking. Do research before You buy.
I agree those are all very nice cylinders except the Kaba Gemini. It has been picked too many times and is reported as being "easy" by some. I haven't gotten my hands on one yet, so I can't speak to it personally. I'm not familiar with CES though. I have a Mul-T-Lock with every outer-driver serrated and protected from the Michaud overlift attack. It is not an easy lock (I doubt those nifty MSC mechanical mtl tools would help much) and I consider it quite secure.
bollidear: lol, you're dumb. This vulnerability is very real and has been verified and re-verified (including by me personally). Don't call something false just because you don't understand it.
Every keyed mechanical lock can be picked. There are a few high-sec cylinders that are very hard to pick.Ive only heard of Assa Twin being picked a couple of times. I havent heard of anyone picking the Corbin Emhart.I don't know much about Abloy, but I hear the Protec is way up there as well.
You really shouldnt be worried about these locks being picked though.Even with Medecos, there really arent very many people that can open them and most of them (including me) arent criminals. The video doesnt demonstrate a picking method; the slider is just for key control. Its trivial to defeat when actually picking the m3.
Marc Tobias (the guy in the video) has also designed a bump key for the Medeco 6pin biaxial cylinder, you can find a video on youtube of a 12 year old girl with no prior experience bumping one. With the slider bypassed the same bump key will work.
Even with the slider bypass, to impression a key would take well over 15 min. so the UL and ANSI rating still stand.
You also mensioned the potentional of a bump key, if that works a pick gun should too. That's if you can get the wire, gun, and tension wrench all in. And the same with SPP, three tools, sounds tough.
Well...Locksmiths aren't allowed to copy medeco keys. We don't carry Medeco blanks for copy. You'd have to make a key like this guy did. Impressioning takes a blank key to do so or you can't get proper marks for the cuts too...and if you somehow make a tensioner/bypass all in one...then that'll cut you down to 2 tools again....nothing alittle JB Weld can't do. Nice Vid!
Im lost I dont have head phones and I dont speak Spanish and I cant get babel fish to translate and it will not send me email a email share to my address can some one send me a video copy and a translation?
Also is this M3 a rare Medeco lock? I mean there is like 72's and so forth.
Send me the lock I will give it a try

Medeco locks have pins that need to be rotated. That key was not angle cut. Some things do not add up here.

i can't see why a bump key wouldn't work using this technique. a bit scary that this is top level security

I forgot to remove the gemini,
Thanks for the correction.
Mul-T-Lock Can be bumped exept for the new one, Look on here for it.

Complete bullshit - the lock was "cooked" for the video.
The guy is a twat

so your saying that with the wire to bypass the slider, its possible to pick the lock normally to get it open?
thank you for sharing, very good information.
