9.8 unemployment is a lie. It's more like 18 to 22%. If you work 4hrs a week your still considered employed. All the people that have exceeded there unemployment benefits are not counted in the unemployment numbers. People that have givin up looking for a job are not counted either.

@joskemom These were the words of Pres. Calvin Coolidge-he believed that smaller govt gave people more freedom. They cut taxes and in 1921 the 12% unemployment rate was down to 2% in 1923. It is a cause and effect--allow the people to keep more of their money and the economy will flourish. Raising taxes and increase spending will always lead to what we got now, high unemployment, lower tax revenue, and an economic outlook that is uncertain. The Obamanomics is a failure.

Even going back to the 20s, lower taxes has always resulted in a booming econ and lower unemployment. Cutting spending will always help the econ but Obama is hell bent on changing America into a european nation.

If you encourage ppl to stockpile and sit on money during a recession you will never see producivity rise. Giving stimulus packages out and try to keep the cash flowing is the way to go. Otherwise your productivity just stagnates, and stagnation means eventually going backwards.

Not until 1946 when congress rejected Truman's bid to increase taxes and instead lowered taxes did America fully recover. Reagan lowered taxes, unemployment went down and IRS rev went up. Spending to get out is a failed theory.

Obamanomics is a failure. The great stim bill did nothing to help the economy, the healthcare bill is raising premiums and it has now been rated that it will actually cost more. Taking over the student loan programs has actually cost jobs in the private sector. Banks that did not get bailout money actually loaned out more money than the banks that received bailout money. Its the will of the American people that will fix this, not govt.

Will somebody please tell Pres Obamarama that you can not spend your way out of a recession. More taxes and govt control leads to a weaken econ. Even going back to the 20s, lower taxes has always resulted in a booming econ and lower unemployment. Cutting spending will always help the econ but Obama is hell bent on changing America into a european nation.

@joskemom actually its the opposite. You need to spend to get out of a recession. Money always needs to be rolling. If you encourage ppl to stockpile and sit on money during a recession you will never see producivity rise. Giving stimulus packages out and try to keep the cash flowing is the way to go. Otherwise your productivity just stagnates, and stagnation means eventually going backwards.

Not until 1946 when congress rejected Truman's bid to increase taxes and instead lowered taxes did America fully recover. Reagan lowered taxes, unemployment went down and IRS rev went up. Spending to get out is a failed theory.

Its not the theory, FDR created the platform for job oppurtinity again and Truman during his period reaved in the profits of it. Or do you think a recession can turn around in one year? FDR did not create a 'platform for job opportunity', his own treasure sec admitted they did not know what the hell they were doing--FDR made the depression worse. Harding, Coolidge, then Kenedy, Reagan and Bush all lowered taxes and each time the econ improved. You bore me , sonny. Now go read some history instead of your own fiction.

Bush looked down on the world and in the end the world laughed with him. Obama maybe is seen as a rookie yes, but people are way more willing to listen to him internationally. Since Obama took office the the reap personal income for Americans has gone done by 3.2%. Hey, how is the hope and change working out? I know lets blame Bush. The 8 year Bush admin real income went up 12.7%. When the govt gets bigger, prosperity gets smaller. But like FDR, Obama believes big govt can save us all and that has never been proven in the US economy.

Obama loves to remind us of the economy he inherited. Well, Greenspan reminded us that it was the fanni/freddie fiasco that caused the house meltdown and that is at the feet of Barney Frank, and Chris Dood. They gave government pressure to push the stupid loans that caused the meltdown. Also the econ started to really slide downhill after Obama was elected--alot of bizz people saw what was going to happen and confusion started to rise.

The reason health care is in trouble and the prices are going through the roof is because the gov't doesn't pay it's debts, it only pays partially on it's bills to the Drs, which makes the other patients have to cover the costs, which means your bill goes up and also, you can't buy your insurance over state lines, and the lawsuits are ridiculous! Let's destroy the whole house instead of correcting the problem with the steps..great insight you idiots!

Drumboy: Your idea of free market across state lines for health care is a nonstarter because there are now essentially 4 or 5 big companies owning all those state plans, it's called an oligopoly, next thing to a monopoly. And government will not be setting the price of health premiums, this oligopoly will. And premiums will continue to rise quickly, because the oligopoly controls the market, not the government.
