Next the crush outside the gate was becoming to much so they asked for the gate to be opened that day. It was and everyone went in. No tickets were looked at and everyone went the same way down the tunnel...like you would. Most were just following the crowd. Unfortuatly they didn't know this would be fateful since they were heading to the two pens that were already packed. The tunnel should have been closed off but wasn't and the question still remains where was the police officer?
If I'm correct before the match even started the two fans were spilt into the stands, Liverpool got the Leppings Lane end even though they had a much larger support. This was mistake one. On the day road works had delayed quite a lot of fans. this caused a large number of fans to crowd around the only turnstile to Leppings lane. People who were refused entry couldn't get back out because they were trapped in the little courtyard that was packed with anxious fans. is this right so far?

The tunnel the fans came down, lead off to other emptier pens but these weren't marked so everybody all went to only one pen. Essentially, those at the front were crushed against the barriers.

Next the crush outside the gate was becoming to much so they asked for the gate to be opened that day. It was and everyone went in. No tickets were looked at and everyone went the same way down the tunnel...like you would. Most were just following the crowd. Unfortuatly they didn't know this would be fateful since they were heading to the two pens that were already packed. The tunnel should have been closed off but wasn't and the question still remains where was the police officer?

If I'm correct before the match even started the two fans were spilt into the stands, Liverpool got the Leppings Lane end even though they had a much larger support. This was mistake one. On the day road works had delayed quite a lot of fans. this caused a large number of fans to crowd around the only turnstile to Leppings lane. People who were refused entry couldn't get back out because they were trapped in the little courtyard that was packed with anxious fans. is this right so far?

@indyboy55 Too many fans were in the "pens" as they were called back then. Those climbing out were doing so to stop being crushed to death. Nobody could retreat. The tunnel the fans came down, lead off to other emptier pens but these weren't marked so everybody all went to only one pen. Essentially, those at the front were crushed against the barriers.

@megan17897 In fact Taylor actually praised the LFC fans for tending the dead and dieing while the police were still preventing ambulance and fire personnel from entering the ground because "the fans were fighting"
Yes some fans turned up LATER THAN EXPECTED but this was because of road works. Any way fans turn up late for sporting events and concerts all the time. So why isn't there a Hillsborough every week? Well, because 99.999% of the time the police manage the crowds properly.

As for Heysel, well yes obviously a small minority of LFC fans were responsible for that but what has that to do with Hillsborough?
And by the way I am not a scouser, I live in Manchester, my team is MUFC.
