I don't know why but after almost 20 years that little flute/middle eastern piece at 0:55 - 1:21 always creeps me out... reminds me of all those Are You Afraid of the Dark episodes and other YTV horror-shows about mummies and tombs. Really eerie.
PLEASE GIVE PROPER CREDIT to the creator of "The Mind's Eye". Yes, Odyssey had a collection of CGI demos, but "The Mind's Eye" was a MIRAMAR production by Emmy Award winning director JAN NICKMAN who spent thousands of hours exquisitely crafting them into a double platinum selling film considered to be a milestone in the field of computer animation. With a score by JAMES REYNOLDS, "The Mind's Eye" reached #12 on Billboard's video hits chart. PLEASE GIVE PROPER CREDIT TO THE ARTISTS.
It amazes me how this late 80's and early 90's computer graphics animation used to take 100's of thousands of perhaps millions of dollars worth of computer hardware (Connection Machine for example) to create. Then it would take super expensive, slow, cumbersome software and animators months to do a simple animation. Now, far superior graphics can be done on a home computer with a $3,000 copy of 3D Studio MAX. Astounding progress has been made.
@zoidburg111 There were a variety of computers capable of rendering graphics like these. Sadly, the machines and the software they ran has largely been forgotten, perhaps because there was absolutely no need to inform the public they existed, so they stayed invisible to the public eye except through these videos.
Interestingly, today, even if you know of those computer systems it is almost impossible to find anything about them on the internet.

I have this on VHS from Miramar, not the Radio Shack version. This is an impressive repurposing and re-editing on College art projects, TV links between shows & commercials and promos (including commericals).
Even in it's primitive/early computer graphics, it's still quite impressive and many places fun, some places dramatic.

You know, the only way one can enjoy The Mind's Eye properly is to not ask yourself questions. The only question that should be asked it:
"Why not?"

the one of the office building inside reminds me of one of the places my dad used to work at. I think it was the "Info-mart" in downtown dallas.

I wish it had been issued on DVD but Odessey no longer exists, it is now Animation Entertainment and focuses on primarily on photographic art.
I don't think any are still in print.
