I remember seeing Eudora Welty at the Jitney as a child. I had never read any of her books but I just stared at her in awe. Everyone knew who she was and everyone had a Eudora Welty story. It's so amazing to see Beth Henley interviewing her as well, although I'm disapointed that the interview was so short! I hope Beth is doing well these days!
Thanks for this video and the movie version. I'm in high school and just read this book. This has really helped me to better understand the book and Eudora.
It's very hard to explain why it doesn't matter whether the grandson is dead or alive. What is often asked is where's the sacrifice if he's dead. It's not easy to explain the enduring quality of selfless love.
Like the strength of her central character Phoenix, in "A Worn Path," --Welty, herself continues to "rise and shine" within her ever rising contemporary favor. This historic archival interview is an incredible and insightful opportunity to listen with full interest "chin in hand" to an extradinary writer. She is considered a dual creative force for her works in photography and literature--what a great artist; what a sincere and compassionate woman!
You are an angel for posting this, my twin literary passions are the works of William Shakespeare and great American literature, Welty being a favourite of mine. I looked for interviews with her on Youtube a while ago, couldn't find a thing, so happy I found this!
You wouldn't happen to have any interviews with Shakespeare himself would you?? Please tell me if you do!! ;D
Thank you so very much for posting this video. Eudora Welty was a treasure and her works remain so. I'm so touched to see the film made of "A Worn Path".
that reallly helped me ,thank you

Gorgeous. Thank you for uploading. My literature professor had the great honor of visiting Welty's home and speaking with her before she passed.

It's hard to beat Eudora Welty for short stories. A Still Moment is one of the most beautiful pieces of fiction ever written.

She's an amazing woman. She's still so aware for her age and she can still visit old memories.
