was playing a different vid of this the album version that is, looked over and said "oh cool, a live cut" it picked right up where the album version left off when i clicked
@Montypytho17 I kinda agree. Making a cover yours is something to covet, but I don't think this is a good example. This is a sad song, this makes it sound almost happy. That shows me that she missed the emotional mark of the song altogether.
Music is an art, and art is all about emotional expression.. so despite her really nice voice, this is a fail to me.
certainly nothing wrong with a banjo....blind melon, neil young, led zep, the eagles, REM, phil collins, primus, the who, the hollies are all "rock" artists who often used a banjo
what's with people who claim to dislike anything country so bad. i don't really know of anything amy has which doesn't have a country sound.pop and rock , and rap is so bad off they all are turning country to survive.
songs of this type only qualifly for country or ballad. anyone shoul;d be able to recognize a balad when they her it.. anyway we claim it as ours so go sulk someelse:):)>
To everyone who says its awful and horrible, honestly just stop talking. If your gonna say something of that nature, then at least try to make constructive criticism. I personally didn't like the country twist all that much, kind of takes away the feelings the original keeps and gives off. But this isn't bad at all, for what they were going for that is.
I disagree that the bluegrass\country/folk twist given to this great song is a bad idea. A straight ahead note for note version would not be creative in my opinion. The banjo and lap steel has been scrubbed from modern country in favor of faux nasal twang and phony American jingoistic pride and redneck stereotypes. This is closer to Carter Family than it is to Gretchen Wilson's bullshit redneck girl pop. All that being said, I like the original better as I do in most cases of cover versions.

Country is not my cup of tea, but Amy's voice is so nice, you can't diss her cover.

I love covers like this. Instead of playing it the same as it was made, she changed it. Shows so much more talent.

This is my favorite version of this song. The original irritates me but this makes me want to sing along.

Her voice is so good but unfortunately the arrangement doesn't suit the song.

Well that was an interesting take on that song, but it sounded awesome. You haters must just love Death Cab too much...

@ecosmart123
could not possibly have put together a better description of 'country' music...i especially like the jab at gretchen wilson, brilliant
I like the feel of Millan's cover better actually, she really did a great job of fitting the song into the alt-country genre
