I dig it. I like the timing of the cuts with the music, it's classy, stays true to the chilling tone of the movie and it feels like a Cliff's Notes version of the film... in a good way.
It ends way too abruptly though. I'd suggest breaking up the girls' chorus scene with some other footage. Keep the girls singing over more wreckage of Tokyo shots, then maybe cutting to Godzilla roaring won't seem so weird and out of place. And hell, maybe have a little more after Godzilla's roar. This feels like an abridged version of the movie, so why not include the final act?
Didn't really want to include the final act because I hate spoilers. I thought about including the final shots and more of the oxygen destroyer, but I opted against it for the ending with Godzilla's roar.
While it's definitely noble for you to not want to ruin the ending, considering the movie is over fifty years old, I think you can get away with it. ;)
I think some of the scenes with the Oxygen Destroyer are some of the most powerful in the movie. Personally, I'd say you're doing yourself a disservice not including bits from them. BUT that's just my suggestion, and it's pretty rad as is.
It's good the editing needs a bit of work but still fairly good but yeah an Ifukube track while being a brilliant piece of music... being used in a Godzilla tribute almost seems lazy. Now I know my tributes aren't that great but I have seen a lot myself and it's good for a tribute using Ifukube although you should definatly try out some other songs besides the normal Godzilla/Kaiju tracks and experiment with other generas of music, you'd be amazed at how well some songs actualy work.
Editing needs work, but I guess there's not much you can do when going the obvious route and using a Ifukube track. If this took awhile than I can't say I'm impressed at all, I could put something like this together in 45 minutes tops. Nice attempt but try being more creative next time.
I know the editing is a little jumpy in some areas. It's a first try at a trailer/tribute type thing. More coming. Practice makes better. That being said, it's better than a lot of tributes out there on the Godzilla front.
It's OK at best.
