  • 32 is a still goshdamn number!

  • LEGENDARY!

  • I love this!!!!

  • I absolutely love this song. Long live the king, long live the queen

  • i love this. so much. i cant even describe. :)

  • I think this is one of my favorite songs of hers.

  • this song is so f***ing beautiful. so beautiful, i can't say f***ing. :) Regina Spektor- I LOVE YOU.

  • Like if you know the story and understand what she's talking about. Such a fucking sad and fucked up story </3

  • @Jeremy12three Nooo whats the story????

  • @cassie7373 I can't fit the whole story on here, but Oedipus was abandoned by his parents when he was a baby, so when he grew up he set out on a journey, killed his father, not knowing that was his dad. His dad was a king so Oedipus became king of that land. His mother was the Queen and was still alive, so his mom became his wife. (Remember he doesn't know the queen is his mom) They have kids together. Eventually they find out and the queen, kills herself. Google the whole thing. It's so sad. :c

  • @Jeremy12three Oh damn :o ! yeah that is pretty sad.. and sick! Lol The song makes so much more sense now

  • @Jeremy12three actually the music doesn't relate the story that way.

For there are many versions. The queen would be needed to make kids (lots of them). Oedipus would be son number 32. His mother would have had postpartum depression.

In an attempt of making her happier, the son would have had an incestuous relation with her, so he was not only number 32 now but something more.

The part of his father and the rest I'm not sure but this is the song's perspective on the story :)

  • @JoaquimMilheiro I don't see how your version makes any more sense than mine...

  • @Jeremy12three Just the part of postpartum depression… maybe because of "to see me made her awful sad"

Even though I think your version may be more accurate historically

  • @JoaquimMilheiro I guess. It's whatever the listener wants it to be.

  • I almost dont wanna like that top comment cuz it's a perfect 32 likes :( lol

  • regine, -ae, f. = queen

    :))

  • @gasholicious Are you roomanian?

  • @gasholicious Someone took classical Latin all 4 years in high school!!! ;)

  • The song s not about Oedipus!

Story: Boy feels neglected by his parents mainly his mother. And the queen in kind of OCD and because she had to make children for the king made her depressed (postpartum depression) Anyway, he resolves to have sex with his mom. (similar to Oedipus) You see he's obsessed with her because of her neglect, and cause if he fucks her he' be more than a number.

  • '0 people didn't like'

some sense in the world! haha

  • this woman is a genius

  • words can not describe how amazing regina spektor is

  • Masterful.

  • omg this is beautiful fjkhsdfgj

  • why do i love these songs?????

  • Oedipus Complex...The main character in the song is the most interested in his mother. It says Oedipus Rex, and combines it with royalty, because the Oedipus Complex was taken from his story. As for the 32's, I dont immediately know where that came from, but Regina likes to take other sources, sometimes even her personal life, and puts hints into her songs.. also, Oedipus was known for solving the riddle of the Sphinx, and the 32's and us finding what they mean, could be a riddle for us,

  • @lordkieta also,

    Long Live The King

4 words, repeated 8 times in a row

    4 x 8

    you do the math

thats just something I wanted to throw into the riddle

  • what the fuck does this song mean?!! still, i can't help loving it.. fucking tunes winning me over

  • @hardstreetbambi

    Oedipus Rex. Go read it.

  • @MewHikaru you mean read the lyrics? i know the story well.. just don't get the song

  • that's allot of kids....

  • ReSpekt and Long Live The King!! :D

  • Wow, I apologize for my lame comment from two year ago. I was such a... freshman. I mean honestly, "lol" in response to a regina song? Grammar mistakes? I'm much more respektful now, I swear.

  • @23Allie23 where are you at now? how have things panned out?

  • @ihfppl Haha, I hope so. I'm in college now. Still a hardcore Regina fan. Glad I got go through my adolescence with this kind of music.

  • @23Allie23 arent we all alli, arent we all..

  • @23Allie23 woooooooo for RESPEKT! ;D

  • It's like Oedipus goes furder (no idea how you spell that?) where Lacrimosa stopped with the "tumtumdetumdetum"

  • love this song :)

  • is this her new album?

  • no its Maryanne and the grave diggers and other short stories.

whcihc i think was only released in the UK :(

  • @alberta1235 This is also from her second album "songs" which was released like 10 years ago now, and was only sold at live shows she did.
