  • I met Nikita at a wrestling match in North Carolina. Super nice guy!

  • weird hearing him without the kayfabe accent. he has a voice for commentating or radio or even voice acting.

  • Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggggggggggggg Taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • nikita sucked

  • I hear u on that MrBigvasquez.........I saw an interview w/ him couple of yrs ago and yep he had me thinking he was really Russian........LOL Just like i REALLY thought Abula the Butcher was really off his rocker until i saw an interview on here and my jaw dropped to the ground LMAO

  • holy shit. i been watching wrestling all my life and NEVER knew this guy really wasn't russian . I am freakin that he talkin english. Damn

  • @MrBigvasquez C'mon now. Most of those guys were not who they claimed to be. Just really good actors. Great entertainment nontheless.

  • @MrBigvasquez Don't worry, everything else in wrestling you see and hear is completely true.

  • Nikita was Awesome ! :) I met him in Person when I was about 11 & He looked HUGE ! but He was cool as hell. Signed an autograph picture for me. :) He was teamed up that night with the Road Warriors & Dusty Rhodes against the 4 horsemen in a cage match. I believe it was 1985 in the Greenville Memorial Auditorium in S.C. . unfortunately that picture is long gone :( one of the coolest memories I have :D

  • @wingnut4427 Did he speak to you with that "Russian" accent and then execute the Russian Sickle on you?

  • @TheTallMan35 He spoke with the accent but the sickle would have been awesome ! :D lol

  • What a spin it puts on the wrestling we 40 somethings grew up with. The Russian nightmare......is in reality a well meaning and well spoken red blooded American. The next thing you know we'll find out Johnny Weaver actually never put anyone to sleep with his sleeper and Black Jack Mulligan or Baron Von Raske did no damage with their dreaded claw hold. Man......Where's Santa when you need him?

  • Whoah it's a trip hearing Nikita with no accent. I used to watch him in the NWA when I was little. His voice sounds like Hulk Hogan's. When Hulk talks normal of course.

  • sha to it aw ....wtf?!!

  • NIKITA KOLOFF, WE COMIN' FOR YOU NIGGA

  • Shoulda known he talked like this in real life....sMh....

  • he talk like mister rogers!

  • Well as it turns out he didnt destroy Rick, he saved him from destruction? The next match will be in? Any guesses cause i know the answer. If you see this comment Nikita call me you got my number, love ya my friend.

  • where did his russian accent go?????????

  • @bigsmooth50 Minnesota residents dont usually have russian accents.

  • back in the day nikita was a wrecking machine!!

  • I think Nikita should go into the Hall Of Fame. Always a great worker and a class act.

  • @DrummerEvansAki : It'll happen.

  • it's odd hearing Nikita without the accent.

  • These guys from the 80's and 90's did their job wonderfully. Anyone pushed as a person from outside the continent did a great showing their ability to have us believe it.

  • Wow - Nikita seems to genuine and like a really nice guy. Great ending too :D

  • Nikita Koloff Vs Ric Flair at Great American Bash 1985 for the NWA World Heavyweight Title had 35.000 Fans. Who ya bastard thats a lot of fans Lmao. I love Wrestling Events with a lot of fans lol, It makes it more special to watch when there is 20.000 fans in an arena or more, Its even more special when there is 35.000/50.000/60.000/70.000/80.000 screaming fans like at Wrestlemanias. As awesome has these attendances sound it still can't match up to Wrestlemania 3 with 93.173 fans thats flawless.

  • AHh Lex Luger is better looking then Nikita Koloff. Always was, and always is!!

  • This was awesome! It's neat listening to "Nikita" talk with an American accent and then break into that all too familiar "Russian" accent. I think I recall that first matchup between Flair and Nikita in Charlotte,N.C. At one point, Nikita would ram Flair's head into the steel ringpost and busted him wide open. Later on, Ivan Koloff came in and helped Nikita injure him further. Numerous wrestlers attempting to come to his aid were simply hurled from the ring onto the arena floor. What memories!

  • lol..this was nice...lol

  • Please tell me Nikolai Volkoff was a real Russian and not from fucking Wisconsin or some place.

With each passing day my childhood beliefs are being knocked off one by one.

  • @MrLuigiVampa I'm sure you're kidding so i'll humor you. None of those guys were Russian. Crusher Kruschev? aka Barry Darsaw aka Smash from Demolition. Nikolai

    was Croation.

  • @MrLuigiVampa wow, i totally agee with u. wihen i heard him talk, i was like damn. it kind of sound wierd to here his voice so american.

  • @MrLuigiVampa

    From his Wiki

Josip Nikolai Peruzović (born October 14, 1947), better known by his ring name of Nikolai Volkoff, is a professional wrestler who is best known for his performances for the World Wrestling Federation. Although the Volkoff character is portrayed as Russian, Peruzović actually originated from Croatia and had a mixed background that was not entirely Russian.

  • @MrLuigiVampa

Peruzović grew up in the Socialist Republic of Croatia, which was then part of the Yugoslavia, a Communist country. His mother is Russian and his father was Croatian and Italian. He was on the Yugoslavian weightlifting team until 1967, when he defected to Canada while at a weightlifting tournament in Vienna, Austria.

  • "Nikita" is from Minnesota, "Ivan" is from Montreal,Quebec Canada.

  • Wow, I thought he was really Russian, I guess not lol.

  • Comment removed

  • Nikita will be at a show in Greenville, SC on September 25th with Lex Luger as well. For more information email thenewassassin@yahoo.com.

  • still SEXY!!

  • @luvbugg1975 You are gay lol

  • accent was awesome from nikita he could never beat road warrior hawk though

  • actually Ivan Koloff is Canadian, lol

  • The "Commies" Nikita and Ivan Koloff are actually damn Yankees! LOL! These two dudes totally sold me on their accents. They could have been pretty good actors.

  • @handsome102180 Actually, no, Ivan is actually Russian but Nikita is from Minnesota.

  • @Jkun91 no ivan is french canadian. he has said that in a recent interview.

  • nothing but 100% CLASS. Nikita admits to Naitch making his career. Nothing but nothing but a great guy.

  • He must have been in the US for a long time. He speaks pretty good english w/ no Russian accent. LOL! I'm only kdding. I know he's not Russian.

  • Awesome!

  • xhemexx ...are you kiding me. the russian bear would dominate that goldberg of yours

  • If anyone believed Nikita was from Russia, I guess you believe Kamala was really from Uganda............haha Come on, folks, it's only entertainment! I love it and have watching wrestling over 30 years but it's only entertainment. If you are truly believing everything they say/do then I have some beach front Nevada property for sale with a view of Russia. haha..Loved some Nikita Koloff back in the day. The Russian Nightmare!

  • Amazing how he sold that Russian accent back in the day. Him and Ivan were totally believable. Nice to see things are going well for him and Ivan in life after wrestling.

  • Ya can't help but smile when he goes into Nakita mode. Nothing like the old days of wrestling 25 years ago.

  • Where's Magaaaaaaaaa TA

  • Scott Nikita Koloff Simpson is a class act!

  • I named my 200lb Russian Trophy Boar with 3" cutters Nikita Koloff and made a 4 min video about it with Nikita promos and hog attacks.

Both were evil, Russian, alpha-male warriors.

  • Nikita Koloff, they say he was one of the most controversial wrestlers ever. Very notorious. Feared by most fans, at one time loved by guy fans, hated by women fans, but still feared and respected.

  • When is Nikita coming out of the closet?

  • nikita vs goldberg, that is a match

  • @j3f2c1

Goldberg would destroy the Russian sissie!! GOOOOLLDBEEEEERG....GOOOOOOLDBEEEERG....GOOOOOLDBEEEERG.....GOOOOOLDBEEEEEERG!!!!

  • @j3f2c1 it will be great dude i met nikita in person but not ivan oh well i love wresling

  • Nikita Koloff has done a great job learning English over the last 25 years. When I first saw him in the middle 1980s he barely knew any English; he has even lost his Soviet accent.

  • Please, tell me you're joking.

  • you idiot he wasnt russian he was acting he is from minnisota originaly where he played football for a while that didnt work out for him so the road warriors got him in to wrestling.he was friends with them from the golds gym there.

  • @billysteve1

Anybody who know anything remembers that the road warriors hated nikita koloff they would never lift with him.

i suppose Josef Stalin was from Minnesota too?

If you never heard of Stalin go buy a history book fool.

  • Actually you're wrong.

"Nikita Koloff" was a staged name.

The man is really American; his name is Scott Simpson.

Learn facts before you bash someone else.

PS: Perhaps you also bought, hook-line-and-sinker, the angle concerning an old wrestler by the name of "Abdullah The Butcher," (billed as from Sudan.)

Wrong: he's an American, named Larry Shreeve.

He was from Sudan about as much as I'm the Emperor of Japan.

Sure, some wrestlers WERE from where they were announced; but NOT all of 'em.

  • @McRat1968

Dude you must get laid a lot! NOT!!!

  • @McRat1968 Wrong, Abdullah is Canadian.

  • Dude you better do research before opening yourself up to get hammered on. Everyone, well everyone with half a brain that is, that Nikita Koloff is American. Put on your big boy pants, and accept the fact that wrestling is a show. great athletes yes, but half the guys use gimmick names. I bet you believe 'Taker and Kane are really brothers. Or Edge and Christian are really brothers.

  • You need to do some research before opening yourself up for this kind of hammering. Everyone with half a brain knows 'Nikita' was from Minnesota. I suppose you believe 'Taker and Kane are really brothers. Or Edge and Christian. Put on your big boy pants and accept the fact that wrestling is a show. Great athletes, with a script. Which means for alot of them using stage names. Get a clue jerkoff

  • nikita rulz!

  • That was so cool.

I remember I watched that match on TV the night of its airing LIVE.

I lived 125 miles from Charlotte NC at the time, but could not go to it, but what the memories.

I was a Ric Flair fan throug and through, and watched every event that Ric was on.

    Carrzkiss

  • I can't see all of this post but, I was at the Bash in 1985..It was Ric Flair and Nikita..Dusty Rhodes fought Tully Blanchard that night...just sharing...

  • Nikita навсегда !!!

  • Almost everyday I run into Nikita Kolov still very very large and a hell of a nice guy. That is the difference between the old and new guard. Niki Kruschtev included. These guys grew up hard did not make the money today's crybaby bitches make. It shows To all the stars60's to mid 90's Love to all (a former)

  • If he doesn't have one already, someone give this guy a radio show. He's got a perfect voice for it.

  • why can't he do it in his russian accent? "Magnun TA Russian sickle...you go down"

  • nikita reminds me a little of goldberg

  • @pedrokid77 you mean Goldberg reminds you of Nikita

  • @pedrokid77 He had more talent than Goldberg...but that isn't difficult to do!

  • @pedrokid77 Me too but I think it should be the other way around. I sometimes think WCW patterned Goldberg after Nikita's aura.

  • @lucioustofu Well Lex Luger is better looking then this bald jobber!!

  • @pedrokid77 Nikita Koloff was definitely the prototype to Goldberg, just slight differences in gimmicks.

  • MISS YOU NIKITA! YOU ROCK!!

  • @TheWarDog11 i saw him before we talked is that cool dude

  • this guy was the real deal , he should be in the hall of fame

  • damn i miss nikita

  • Nikita seems like a nice guy outside of the ring.

  • Who Nikita Koloff or "1035573"??

  • dunno what you are talkin about man. i remove dthe comment.

  • cool hearing nikita without that dumb accent

  • Did Nikita ever wrestle Rocky Steamboat!

  • Comment removed

  • There you go again with your Nikita bashing! It's getting tiring. Just so you know, neither of them got into the sport to arouse ladies.

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • How did he lose his Russian accent?

  • Never had one to begin with. Almost every wrestler (then and now) with a foreign gimmick isn't from where they say they're from.

  • He actually grew up in the Mineapolis Minnesota area with Curt Hennig, Rick Rude, Barry Darsow, Road Warriot Hawk, Road Warrior Animal. the Russian Accent was self-taught and was part of his character.

  • He reminds me goldbberg here. They look like brothers)

  • No. Goldberg is waaay better looking.

  • Where's the Russian accent? LOL...

  • From early 1985 through late 1986 Nikita was a monster ! He had the size, the look and the charisma of a perfect 1980's heel ! Throw in the Russian gimmick and what more could you ask for ?

Aside from Flair he had some great matches with Magnum T.A.

  • I agree with you, but I also think it's majorly overlooked that within the Russian gimmick and the heat that was generated by nationalistic sentiments, there was the element of the Russian Nightmare possessing the USA Heavyweight belt!

  • He looks like Goldberg.

  • Comment removed

  • Not really, that's the look he sported for years when he was fighting Flair,Rhodes,Magnum & countless others in the NWA/WCW of the mid-80s/early '90s.

  • Comment removed

  • I've known he was from Golden Valley MN for over 20 years, and his real voice still takes me by surprise. Just not what we're all used to!

  • He sounds like Hulk Hogan.

  • He sounds like Mic Foley.

  • He sounds like Kurt Angle.....

  • His normal speaking voice reminds alot Road Warrior Animal's. Nikita is a wonderful human being, a true man of God

  • Comment removed

  • LOLOL, I didn't know he was actually American.

  • Nikita was a great character.

  • Wait a minute. Nikita Koloff wasn't really a Russian? Is there nothing else to believe in anymore?

  • no he wasn't, he has from Minnesota, Ivan wasn't Russian either, he is Canadian, and they are not related

  • Nikita's real name is Scott Simpson and he was a childhood friend of Rick Rude, Curt Hennig and Mike "Road Warrior Hawk" Heggistrand. Sadly, he is the last survivor of that group.

  • "Flair climbs the ropes, but the broomstick has recovered and catches him as he stands on the top rope! Flair begs not to be thrown but the broomstick HURLS him aross the ring! Flair is favoring his back, and saying "no, no no," but the broomstick moves in, and there's ANOTHER thumb to the eye! The broomstick is down, and Flair says his trademark "Now we go to school" and applies the figure four leglock! The ref asks the broomstick if he wants to quit, and the broomstick SUBMITS!"

  • @Greenandscaly

Stupid broomsticks never learned that they cant't beat the Nature Boy. lol But maybe that Swisher Mop might have a chance. People seem to be getting rid of their brooms for them. Maybe there is something different about them.

  • Nikita Koloff was the original GOLDBERG

  • More like Goldberg ripped from Koloff.

  • Uhhhh, that's what I was saying, Goldberg was a Koloff wannabe

  • uhh, ok.

  • How true!

  • classy

  • When he turned face to honor Magnum TA, that was one of the great face turns of all time.

  • AMEN! Fans went through the roof when he actually started beating Ole and JJ.

  • koloff was born in my home state!

  • Nikita seems like a genuinely good guy, and he was probably the greatest when it came to fulfilling his role. I seriously didn't know he wasn't Russian until about 1995.

  • Technically he's not a Russian, as Nikita Koloff is not his real name. But the Nikita Koloff character was Russian

  • Yeah he does.

  • Goldberg favor Nakita Koloff

  • I heard he used to live in Wilkes county nc Is that true?

  • Wow, Nikita Koloff....those Rosetta Stone Learning DVD's I got you must've paid off. You sound wonderful!!! Good to see him, a great wrestler of the 80's.

  • Big Ups to Nikita. A class act all the way.

  • plz why did nikita kolloff retire? if sum 1 can reply too me n let me know it wud b much appreiciated

  • I believe his wife at the time had cancer, and he took time off to be with her. He just never returned.

  • i heard about his wife i wasnt sure if he had a serious injury. the last time i saw him wrestle was against vader at halloween havoc. but i also heard he turned christian n walked away just wanted too know which is right

  • he became a christian and I guess after that didn't want to do it after that.

  • WTF is the matter with him lol

  • wow, his english has gotten really good

  • of course he was born in the U.S. not in russia, check it out on wikipedia.

  • nikita is my man 50grand all day

  • Who caused or how did his nech injury occure was it in a match r what??

  • Awesome. A tribute to the Nature Boy from the Russian Nightmare.

  • I didn't know Nikita wasn't really Russian until recently.

  • You're kidding, right?

  • hey, i didn't know either until i looked him up on wikipedia

  • hey, i didn't know either until i looked him up on wikipedia

  • Yeah he really played his role to the tee....Cause I used to love to hate him. I figured he wasn't really Russian, but you get into the roles they play so much, He gets an Oscar from me for that Russian. It's really good to see him now just like all of the rest of them that are still around. And he's a born again Christian,,,,totally awesome !!!!!

  • RUSSIAN SICLE!

  • speaks english prety well dontcha think???!!! LOL!!!

  • i like this guy he is cool

  • I think he would make a great announcer for a wrestling company.

  • Long Live Nikita!

  • Nikita is from Minnesota. Not Russian at all. Retired due to neck injury. Great wrestler in his time! Great guy today!

  • He was cheated of his real potential.

  • what happened to his accent?!

  • .....this is spooky hearing &seeing Nikita Koloff talk like this.

  • Rih Fleeeaaahhhh. Roww Whyaaaaaahhhhs. I going destroy youuuuuuu.

  • Who could ever forget the reaction when he turned babyface? Unbelievable!

  • Was that when he was following Dusty into the cage and then WHAM!... I remember that and went nuts.

  • Awh... The Russian Nightmare, Hey Koloff fans you can catch Nikita wrestling on ESPN CLASSIC at night. Right now he's feuding with Larry Zybysko for the AWA Championship! 1 more thing, forget about the Clothes line from Hell, Nikita's Russian Sickle is just sick!

  • I always knew he wasn't really Russian, but it's still strange for me to hear him speaking in his normal voice. He may not have been the greatest technical wrestler, but he played his character very well.

  • correction..he played his character perfectly.

he was so physically intimidating and put on great matches.

  • Nikita is freakin awesome!!

  • Nikita just seems like hed be just an all out nice guy to hang out with...Hes very friendly.

  • Yeah easy to talk to. I remember meeting him about 5 years ago in Nashville just shopping around in the Express Mens store. Real nice guy...

  • he became a born again Christian in 1983 that's why he left the business of pro wrasting. Praise God!!! You can too Read John3:16-18

    Be blessed Y'all

  • who Nikita left in 83 because he was born again? How is that i remember him wresltling well into the 90's

  • such a cool nice guy whenever you see him shoot

  • I have nothing but respect for Nikita, he would've been huge had he gone to WWF at the right time, but there again McMahon probably would've made him into a stooge at some point...one of my all time favortites!!

  • Why did Nikita leave in the 80s. He could have been big in the WWF.

  • His wife was sick and eventually died

  • That's too bad.

Didn't he retire from wrestling to take care of her?

  • Yes and they had a young daughter too

  • I actually know his daughter she goes to my high school.

  • I wonder if he had the hitch to get back after that

  • the only thing can knock out thee wwe off the air would b
