  • Brian looks so happy. Fucking rules.

  • Wezzer lost all that it had (everything) when matt left. Its a fact.look it up.

  • Oh man I love old Weezer but they are the most boring band ever live. Look at Rivers just standing there like a board...

  • @DunkRyan well this was like right after weezer was put on the map and also rivers used to have incredible stage fright...also his depressing/still posture adds a lot of emotion to an already emotional song like this

  • @DunkRyan Yea, i love weezer too, but rivers needs a little bit of rock perfomance energy

  • sheldon and leornard from big bang theory!

  • I love both but I prefer Green to Blue, then Pinkerton.

  • The Blue Album is one my favorites albums of all time... I mean, incredible songs, great riffs, tons of feedback, amazing solos... What else can you ask for?

  • Hurley>Blue Album.

Just kidding. Hurley makes me barf.

  • holy crap 1994-1996 the golden years!! damnnn blue & pink are sooo good :) some of the most impt. albums of the '90s. :)

  • this is one of my favorite songs from them .

  • Turns out the Blue Album is probably the most listen-able to album made. Ever. Ever. Don't normally care about bands "selling out" but these guys really took a turn for the worst not too much longer after this.

  • March of 1995?! That's when i was born. Any1 know what day it was on?

  • I saw these guys live at the Z100 Jingle Ball in 1994 in Madison Square Garden. I was just a kid; I hated the Sweater Song and wasn't expecting much when they got on stage, but they blew me away, and with this song in particular. They were just these four nerdy guys putting out this huge wall of sound. I went right out after that show and bought the blue album, been a fan ever since and just saw them again last Friday night, 16 years later.

  • Thumbs up if you wish you could go back to 1995!

  • @IndieFrogStudios if i did that id still be a sperm in my dad's you know what

  • @mushurushubaby what?

  • @lazrpo are you that confused it means i wasnt born yet in 1995

  • @mushurushubaby Not really, no. If you went back to 1995, you would be as you were now... in 1995.

  • @lazrpo well who knows but i dont really believe in time travel

  • a couple times with my hand

  • it's sheldon cooper with glasses on guitar! =))

kidding aside, that was an awesome intro.

  • Back when they were really kicking ass and still somewhat new.

  • HAPPY 41st B-DAY RIVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • No One Else and this song are definitely underrated gems on the Blue Album. It's songs like this one that make it a perfect album, no exaggeration.

  • Usuehegeh

  • they're so adorable

  • Brian Bell has the best glasses ever!!

  • this pretty much sums up how awesome music was in the 90's.

  • i can see why people miss "young" weezer. Notice as soon as matt left so did "young" weezer. The shit i would do to get matt back in the band.

  • @Robiskool1234 Not why Weezer changed.

  • Comment removed

  • no intro!

  • FOREVER ALONE

  • aww 1:47 you can see that his eyes are watery rivers was so young and adorable!

  • This is how i still feel :/

  • Best Weezer song by miles

  • Matt Sharp FTW!

  • I miss this Weezer......

  • Shut up bitchs!

  • This is the Rivers I miss. I want him back. I want the times of Blue and Pinkerton back. Hurley made me wanna Hurl. But alas...songwriters have to change but I just think Weezer is unfortunately past their prime...but it's just an opinion...

  • i want them back. The ones who dont care about their styles. Take a look at brian today and in this video-_________________________-

  • The Blue album is the sound track to high school and Pinkerton is the soundtrack to college.

  • Easily the best song on the Blue Album.

  • oh my god look how shy Rivers was! He's so cute!!

  • I don't get why they say Pinkerton was their best album(i'm sure many disagree) but it has pretty poor songs on it.. call me a new fan but i reckon the green album was the best

  • @risis13 NOOOOOO

Green was 2nd best in my eyes, after blue :P

but to really appreciate Pinkerton, u need to listen to the lyrics, they make the album

  • @cheeseboy2007 ok i'll give that a go :)

  • @risis13 Green is great but nothing touches Blue or Pinkerton

  • Someone needs to kidnap rivers and make him finish songs from the black hole :)

  • @batesy200 Homie era Weezer would be better!

  • @batesy200 Its finished (i believe) Alone 3 will be released with all the rest of the demos on it. (No Other One, Tired of Sex, Shes Had A Girl, Now I finally See, What is this I Find?)

  • @BassMan21197 Unfortunately, there is 1 (JUST ONE) demo that will not be released on Alone 3, which is "I Just Threw Out The Love Of My Dreams"

Regardless, Alone 3 will be amazing.

  • we should kick the critcs ass

  • Honestly all you fuckers have no idea what you are talking about. How could you be trashing the "post Green" ablums? They all have Weezer in them, the same Weezer that made Blue and Pink. Everyone just shut up and listen to the great music this band has provided for us. Maybe it will teach you something.

  • Pinkterton was awesome, anything post Green Album is just awful, I mean come on, compare a song like Across the Sea to Beverly Hills, NO comparison.

  • that man used to play genius guitar.

  • Pinkerton was a fuckin awesome album. Not their best work, and i think rivers knows it, but none the less - rivers has always wrote catchy hooks. ! fuck off critics and make your own album!....what no,....you cant,...exactly. FUCK OFF!

  • @splatterngore As the great Frank Zappa once said, "A critic is just a failed musician."

  • @MikeC26GH - Exactly!

  • Don't know how anyone can speak ill of Pinkerton, Weezer's best in my opinion. A damn shame they could not keep it like this, they aren't quite what they used to be.

  • coolest nerds ever!

  • I think the thing I miss most about Matt Sharp in Weezer is all of the falsetto vocals he would do.

  • Can someone tell me what's happened to Weezer? This band is so different from the band that we see today.

  • @PANDEMI2010 um well, i don't believe a band can honestly stay the exact same let alone still be a band 15 years later. Ever thought of that?

  • This sounds a lot like the Pixies, and I like it.

  • @thankgodimatheist no it sounds like weezer

  • sounds like come around :-/

  • Blue is still my fave but Pinkerton is growing on me.

  • ou know I like weezer but i kinda dont like lead guitar players who lead sing because they hog all the spot lite and why hire another guitarist if the only part u hear is when the spot lite hogger does all the work? do u know wat I mean I like NIrvana and Green Day but in why lead guitar and lead sing ? if u jst did lead guitar ud jump around every where doing what u want!

  • @supermagicbox Because his voice is perfect for the bands sound and imagine Dave Grohl singing Smells Like Teen Spirit or Matt Sharp singing Across The Sea. Its because the singers wrote the lyrics and it sounds right coming from them. Yeah Weezer switches vocalists but its very appropiate for Rivers to sing most of the songs.

  • you know I like weezer but i kinda dont like lead guitar players who lead sing because they hog all the spot lite and why hire another guitarist if the only part u hear is when the spot lite hogger does all the work? do u know wat I mean I like NIrvana and Green Day but in why lead guitar and lead sing ? if u jst did lead guitar ud jump around every where doing what u want!

  • @supermagicbox I... what???

  • @runnersdialzero33

stfu, you motherfucker you don't even know who weezer really is? what is SS2K/? THOUGHT SO

  • @mtplewis seriously bro? Talk like a normal human being and appreciate the masterpiece of the blue album. Fuck Ratitude your'e a dumbass

  • @Darthtrajian88 I AM A NORMAL HUMAN FUCKING BEING. YOU DON TALKI DONW TO ME JUST BECUASE U GOT FUKKN SHIT TASTN IN MUSIK AND U THINK U ALL DAT. Its widly knone dat lil wayne (AKA WHEEZY) is da best artist in the game. The fact that he bothered 2 collabo wit these ass hats is beyond me but its fukkn legit bcuz cant stop patying is da best song dey ever made and its got reg radio rotation unlike ANYTHING they ever put out.u need 2 reed a fukkn book b4 u can tell me how to spell fuckn BROO.

  • @mtplewis Troll much?

  • @mtplewis Wow. Someone doesn't know how to express themselves.

  • @mtplewis you seem to be ignorant of music and for that matter you seem to also have absolutely no command of the english language what so ever........people like you are the reason why there is still the need to use the word ''nigger'' unfortunately.......

  • @mtplewis you worry me so much..... lil wayne sucks not just as a musician but as a rapper.... and these songs did get airplay its just an older song so it doenst get any airplay on modern pop radio stations.... but if u go to rock stations or alt. stations it will.... lil waynes songs will not be on the radio in 10 years

  • Awesome how young and uncomfortable he looks, lol. This is probably my favorite Weezer song ever.

  • i love weezer like this they seem so young but they rock

  • i heaard he is has very bad stage fright. its weird cuz they r always on stage and he has stage fright

  • Rivers looks so uncomfortable on stage here :P

  • @LoveFromBelow1993 it must have been one of their first big public concerts, of I was there i'd be as pale as a dead and would loose my voice, they did pretty good

  • best song :) makes me feel good.

  • long live MATT SHARP..long live THE RENTALS!!

  • I really just don't understand why people can't love all of Weezer's stuff! I love all 7 albums. The Blue Album=Brilliant Pinkerton=Masterpiece The Green Album=Really Good Maladroit=Very Good Make Believe=Amazing The Red Album=Fantastic Raditute=Awesome Don't get me wrong, Pinkerton is my favourite album by them but I don't think I'd love it as much if they had try to make 5 more Pinkerton's.Their sound evolves and moves in diferent ways but its still brilliant Weezer. My all time fav band!!!
  • Ceased to be worth a damn once Matt Sharp left.

  • never did like matt sharp hes a fam whore lol

  • join

I wish I could go back in time to see my favorite bands play in concert....on facebook

    i fucking love this song

  • the guitarist is goin crazy but...the others arent LMAO!!

  • All these comments crack me up. Bands evolve...period. Sure, Weezer was gonna be the "next Nirvana".... but their music was taken in a different direction, as was music in general as grunge began to fade rapidly around '96. ..... makes you wonder what Nirvana would be putting out today (if anything). In any event, Weezer has always been "power pop" as defined by the '90's, '00's, and now '10's. Rivers Cuomo is very sharp and well educated; he's a very prolific writer that writes from his soul.

  • is that jason cropper?

  • @TheyCallMePig No, he was out of the band long before this.

  • @TheyCallMePig No Brain bell ajson Cropper Left During the recording of the blue album.

  • This is possibly my favourite Weezer song (and performance). It's a brilliant, catchy song and the lyrics make me laugh for some reason (especially the part about making love to her sweet memories). :)

I just wish that Weezer would come to the UK so I could see them live myself. :(

  • This may be my favorite song off the Blue Album.

  • how did weezer go from this to making music with shitty rappers?

  • @opti95 Well, it's better than letting rappers making commercial shit music. Anyways, who cares about music production today? Music companies?

  • for i long time i thought he sang:

I've just made love with your sweet memory, one thousand times with my hand

  • Imagine if this band wouldn't have blown up with the blue album and been a great indie/underground (insert preferred term here) group that not nearly enough people had heard about. We may very well still be getting great albums out of them.

  • @kiwieata That was a stupid thing to say. Sorry, but....maladroit had some of the best instrumentation/expierimentation i've heard from most bands out there. Weezer is amazing, always was, always will be.

  • @blood4blood666 I don't think Maladroit is that bad. It's got some good jams on there. Green is solid as well, but I just don't think either of those albums comes close to the first two. As for everything beyond Maladroit, I think those albums are pretty poor on the whole.

  • These guys exploded in 94 if I remember - classic music from house parties in the day

  • rivers isn't the same guy who wrote pinkerton. he's grown up and moved on from that. yes, pinkerton is a fucking MASTERPIECE and the lyrics might as well have been woven by the hands of god, but there will never be another one. honestly, if you like a pop-rock sound, raditude is really awesome. if you're looking for another pinkerton, you might as well find another band.

  • the thing about the new album is that its so disposable. Nothing with any staying power. I will admit there are some good moments, but the songs are the one and done type. It's catchy licks with no substance.

  • SAD BUT TRUE MY FRIEND!

  • @starmanspr i just cant handle lil wayne sorry. if it didnt have that sogn id be fine.

  • @starmanspr argeed. it would be totally boring if they made 5 other pinkertons. Eveything in life has its ups and downs. (I'm new to weezer btw so I've like only listened to a few albums) but they kick ass!!!

  • @starmanspr i mdindt like pinkerton that much dude but your right becuz i love the blue album i notice that river writting style change a lot he use to be angry stuff likein say it aint so like more crazy lyrics like in only in dream and that stuff

  • Matt Sharp... We still miss you!!!

  • The critics and fans who criticized Pinkerton should be ashamed of themselves. Just imagine what would've happened if Rivers was praised instead of shat on for Pinkerton, he would've kept the genius works coming. Instead, we have albums like Ratitude =(

  • i think raditude is a good album if you take the average of other bands as standard ... as a weezer album it sucks ass... i miss this angry depressive music like pinkerton had... the dude who hates pinkerton just isn't a weezer fan...

  • absolutely, they suck now. self titled, pinkerton and the B-sides i.e, Jamie and Susanne were the best.

  • I agree so much. It took me like 3 run throughs of Pinkerton before I managed to forget the abomination that is Raditude.

  • persoally, i dont they suck, theyre just going in the very wrong direction

  • @LPfanatic102 agreed :( i love pinkerton and blue to bits pinkerton is one of my fav albums of all time if he was still making stuff like that weezer would still be one of my fav bands....

  • @LPfanatic102

    I mean really...

    People are retarded.

Pinkerton might well be one of the best grunge/rock albums ever and then they ruined it with Weezer getting retarded.

  • @LPfanatic102 I think Rivers should make nice w/Matt Sharpe if he wants to crank out more "genious" works.

  • @xplund Matt Sharp was awesome, but he didn't have A LOT to do with the genius of old Weezer. Let's make no mistake, Rivers is the reason why Weezer rocks/rocked. Still... I could definitely go without Scott Shriner =( .

  • @LPfanatic102 I always thought Matt Sharp was part of the song writing team. Anyway they definately went a different direction after he left. Still good, but very different.

  • @LPfanatic102 right on if they made more alumbs like pinkerton the world would be better and so would they i listien to pinkerton every today the greatst masterpiece of all time

  • @LPfanatic102 Yha, because critcs FORCED him to write shitty songs? Puhleaze.

  • @LPfanatic102 THEYRE JUST TRYING NEW THINGS OUT!! MAN WHY CANT YOU UNDERSTAND DAT?! RIVERS IS NOT DUMB! HE CAN WRRITE TEN DIFFERENT BLUE ALBUMS IN A YEAR IF HE WANTS TO! YES RADITUDE IS DIFFERENT BECAUSE THEY WANT TO TRY NEW THINGS OUT AND HAVE FUN!

  • @tuleli

If he does still have songs in his head that are as good as the songs on the blue album, then I'll be waiting =).

  • @tuleli no, it's definately not that easy.

  • @moonbreath1 he went to harvard. what do u think?

  • @tuleli i don't know what that means. it had nothing to do with what i said.

  • @LPfanatic102 wel was good just not as good pinkerton did rock though

  • @LPfanatic102 Pinkerton was shat on and everybody did hate it when it came out...now everybody loves it. the same thing will happen with ratitude and hurley i gurantee it.

  • @KLove3232 Hate to break it to you, but no one's gonna find deep lyrical meaning in In the Mall.

  • @57jakers Your right. It's a pop song just meant to get stuckin your head. They've been writing songs like that since the beggining. What's the deep lyrical meaning behind buddy holly or the undone? There isn't one, there just songs with catchy lyrics and catchy hooks. Then on the otherside songs like trippin down the freeway and cant stop partying (as different as it is) do have a deeper lyrical sense to them. I hate kids like you that just hop on the "i dont like weezer" band wagon.

  • @KLove3232 First of all, don't make assumptions. Weezer is my favorite band of all time. Though I prefer their first two albums, Rivers has written some damn good songs since then. As for you attitude on songs like Can't Stop Partying, I say keep it up. It's people like you that caused Rivers to make Pinkerton anyway. People like you that decided you liked Weezer because you thought they were nothing but fun nerds playing pop songs. The Blue Album is so much more than that.

  • @KLove3232 When Blue came out, people all assumed that it was nothing more than a fun pop album. Have you ever listened to the lyrics? Given, Buddy Holly is nothing too deep, but it's the poppiest song on the album. And Undone? It's not about a sweater, buddy. Say it Ain't So? Some of the most painful disfunctional lyrics ever written. Holiday is an intense multi-layered love song based on Pet Sounds and Jack Kerouac. Even My Name is Jonas has a deeper meaning (hint: It's about his brother.)

  • @KLove3232 And of course, the albums most genius track, Only In Dreams. Only in Dreams is one of the single greatest songs Rivers has ever written. The pain and hurt shines bright, as does the final sentimate of hope. Maybe you've never been lonely before. Maybe you've never had tortured dreams of girls that you will NEVER be with in real life. Maybe you've never yearned for companionship, wanted love, wanted to be accepted. If thats true, it's safe to say that you don't understand Weezer.

  • @57jakers Don't make assumtions about me either. I fell in love with weezer for the same reasons you did. The lyrics to the songs in the blue album replicate 100% of how i feel, it was like Rivers knew how i felt. Albeit that it sounds wierd but it's true. All those things you've listed i have felt.. The songs that speaks to me the most, more than any others are No One Else and The World has Turned. The story between those two songs describes me in a way that i can't.

  • @57jakers But what you have to understand is Weezer was, and always will be a pop band. In the mid 90's these Post-Grunge songs with witty, meaningful lyrics were what was popular. Now music has changed, so Weezer has changed to remain relevant to it's demographic (teens and young adults). The fact that they are a pop band that has stayed mainstream since 94' is remarkable and only adds to their greatness. It's weezers fans that have sold out.

  • @57jakers It's people like you that are too stubborn to change and realize they still write quality, meaningful songs. There are so many people, just like you, that don't listen anymore because they don't write the songs YOU want to hear. That doesn't sound like a fan to me. Weezer has and always will be my favorite band, it's all good music. If you can't see that, I think it's safe to say that you don't understand Weezer.

  • @KLove3232 Weezer is a pop band because Pinkerton failed. Cuomo has been keeping private life and music separated ever since. Have you ever read the things he was going through when he was writing pinkerton? I firmly believe he wanted to lead the band into a new direction and in the end was crushed by everyone.

  • @LeutennantDan Yes i read somewhere he painted all the walls in his house black and blocked out his windows he was so depressed. But, Weezer was always a pop band. Catchy hooks and sing along lyrics = Pop Band. Though Weezers lyrics have have a deep meaning its still pop. Just like Blink 182. Now i'm not comparing the two i'm just making a point. People forget that Rivers Cuomo is a genius. The man has a harvard degree, speaks fluent japanese, slays the guitar, and writes some amazing lyrics.

  • @LeutennantDan He's not some dumb pop singer, writing mindless pop songs. His songs have only got smarter. And people that say "Weezer sucks now" just cant understand them.

  • @KLove3232 I'm not saying that Weezer sucks now. Not at all. I love the red album and Hurley is pretty decent as well. What I meant to say was that Cuomo took a chance with Pinkerton to pour out his heart and soul into his music and gave up because of the awful public reception.

  • @LeutennantDan I agree. There is some truth to that. It's a good point you make about Rivers changing the music because of the awful reponse from fans. Now everyone wants it back because they don't like it. It's just selfish. People should just let them play. It's still good music. Anyway, im glad to hear you like the red album. In my opinion it's their best work. Well, maybe tied with Blue lol.

  • @KLove3232 I concur :) My favorite album is Pinkerton, followed by blue and red. While not every song is A+ material, the new Weezer albums are heavily underrated. Fans who complain about the music don't understand how songwriting works at all. I for myself am glad Cuomo left behind his depressing past and is making some lighter music that everyone can enjoy.

  • @LeutennantDan - Don't know about songwriting? you're an idiot. shut the fuck up. In songwriting, i assume you mean you're supposed to grow as a writer, but what I think most fans of Pinkerton and Blue album argue (myself included), Maladroit and Green too, is that Rivers hasn't graduated on to better things and instead has just kind of stopped giving a fuck about what Weezer was all about good, rocking, emotional songs that people with half a sense of what real musical talent is can jam out 2

  • @DragonSyndicate1 Did you read the whole conversation we had (one month ago)? I was talking about *why* Cuomo has been keeping things private since Pinkerton and how there still is good music on the recent albums (although just to a small percentage). In terms of songwriting I wasn't talking about the lyrics but the melodies and song structures, which have graduately gotten more complex and in some cases better over time. And keep your fucking insults for yourself.

  • @LeutennantDan Better song structures? You don't know shit. IF you do in fact own all the weezer albums you're talking about, and claim to know so much about songwriting, you wouldn't have that opinion, nor would you waste your time trying to back it up. Shut. The. Fuck Up. What are you, 5?

  • @DragonSyndicate1 No, I am not five. Have you ever written a song? Do you even play an instrument? If you do/did neither, you don't have the right to claim you know anything better than anyone else. I do own the albums I talked about and what I wrote was that the songs have gotten more complex since the blue album, not better. I also stopped at the red album, not Ratitude or Hurley or Death to False Metal because those three are just terrible.

-> don't take this shit too personal.STFU YOURSELF.

  • @LeutennantDan You sir are the one taking this all too personally, what with your lame attempts at defending your youtube honor - loser. And as a matter of fact, I am a writer, also attend school for composition - though with your thick fat head, I don't expect you to believe me, nor do I care -

  • Comment removed

  • @LeutennantDan I don't need to justify my credentials to you just to get a point across over youtube. That said, the song have not gotten more complex, as a writer, I can say this, and as a Weezer listener, you should be able to do so too - apparently you can't. The songs are written for radio, there is nothing experimental about them outside the fact that they aren't "typical" Weezer. Seriously, take a xanax or something, you need to relax, you might get a hemorrhoid or explosive diarrhea XD!

  • @DragonSyndicate1 This kind of sounds hypocritical coming from the guy who told me twice to shut the fuck up after replying to a conversation I had two months ago. But whatever, there's no use arguing with kids on youtube. If "they are written for radio" is the only reason you have to call every single new weezer song bad, I don't want to hear any of your other arguments.

Why did you even butt in if you don't care?

Why shouldn't I take your shit personally if you fucking insult me?

  • @LeutennantDan You're a little bitch and your name is sven XD! FAIL!

  • @DragonSyndicate1 You know my first name. good for you. Farewell, fucker. It's been a pleasure talking to a wall.

  • @LPfanatic102 Pinkerton is in fact one of the best albums of its time. They went to hell after it and I FIRMLY believe that pinkerton needs to be cited more often for its importance.

  • classic song. its sad that there are so few decent quality vids of them from blue-pinkerton era

  • THIS is Weezer.

  • nonsense. 'i'm your daddy' is a freaking masterpiece. do you really think this song even compares to the depth and beautiful sound of 'in the mall'?

  • You must be joking. The corny "I'm your daddy" steals chord changes right from "Jamie". Go lay down somewhere.

  • +1...

  • Well, yeah, In the Mall is a masterpiece. You get the full understanding from the first 30 seconds of it. No other song can do that.

  • Damn they look so young and geeky, it's awesome. To think Pinkerton was brewing in that head.

  • This is crazy. Weezer is actually playing a song that has some artistic value to it. Oh wait, all their songs used to be like that.

PS-new Weezer was much more frightening than Y2K.

  • I think the overly negative reaction to Pinkerton screwed Rivers up lol. I mean the guy makes one of the best records of the 90s, pours his heart and soul into it, and it gets shat on by critics and fans. I wonder what would've happened had the reviews and stuff been positive. I still like Weezer, though now they seem more like a guilty pleasure instead of a band to be proud of.

  • aww, rivers looks like hes never been on stage before! tehee

  • Aww Look at River's stage fright. He's admitted to looking at his feet until the Green album era.

  • underrated song

  • yea I know. it's probably one of my top 5 fav songs by them too
