Its happening in the UK too. We have laws supposedly to protect home owners which the park owners just ignor. They block the sales of anyone wishing to move away and buy the home for a pittance, smash it up and replace it with a new one which they sell to a new unsuspecting victim at a huge profit whilst hiking the site rent. We have recently marched on Westminster (Houses of Parliament in London) and have achieved a debate in that great house with the hope of obtaining new and stronger laws.
alot of people in this situation, simply have all codes and paperwork up to par, loan on the house for extra insurance and a big payout when the house goes up in smoke. the system f--ked you over, so f---k the sytem back.
30 thousand dollars to move a double wide. In ours they threw out 216 people. This is happening nation wide and on the property that bought our mobile home park out .Meadows mobile home park.
They built MC mansions But only 2 . The neighborhood now looks like a war zone with weeds and over grown trees and that was over 5 years ago when we moved. They still havent built .
There are no renters rights for people in mobile homes in utah. Never thought my husband who is a D.C. would be homeless
I'm losing my home too. I'm 45 yrs old with no college degree. WTF am I supposed to do now? I live on a hill overlooking a harbor with the Cleveland Ntl Forest behind me. Now there is a greedy bastard that bought our park & is closing it, has already forced out half of the people alone, just by harassing us. There is no legal help, I have tried so hard to find someone to help me, there is no help. I am so scared & have no where to go now!!
The problem here is most folks who rent lots ACCEPT bad lease terms at the outset and live with wishful thinking that this day won't ever come. I am sympathetic to their plight; I lived in this situation for a while, but went in with eyes wide open considering I might have to walk-away from my investment someday. Signing a lease is a private contract, and mobile home residents are not usually protected by real estate laws because mobiles are NOT real estate. Learn and use the rules.
Wow these park residents are well spoken and seemingly intelligent. Why are these people forced out of their homes? The real estate companies should buy up some of the parks that are in my neck of the woods (central north carolina).
do something about it it phone them up or send them an email - i did and told them what i thought of them - 8,000 of us are sure to make a dent in someones day
They can't afford to pay the increase in rent. Do you think they can afford to pay a minimum of 2,000 to move their home, not including finding a place to move it too. Most often trailer parks allow older homes to stay if they are kept up, but have restrictions on the model of homes coming in. Usually being only homes that are 5yrs. old or newer. And that is in my state of ky, so I imagine Florida's prices and standards are possibly higher.
Oh, and then when they can't move or pay the rent for a certain period of time, the land owner owns the home because it is on their property. Sketchy deal, huh. Slime balls like that make me sick.
theres some sick people out there- but at least where people can get the house back;
Hippies and gypsies break into people houses- then claim 'squatters rights' (there's some crazy law!).
And to get them out- you need a court order, which takes about a month get. Meanwhile your house gets trashed and anything of value is stolen, and somehow none of their shit ever makes it into the shitter...
Squatter's rights...now there's one for the books. How such a law recognizes breaking and entering as legal is insane. They're trespassing; they have no rights. One does have the right, of course, to whip out a shotgun and force 'em out. Sadly, then the innocent guy is busted for threatening assault. Either way, you're screwed!
actually if someone breaks in- the police wont do anything at the time.
about 3 days later they'll send over a 'community support' officer (who dosent have any powers of arrest) to basically say that the police can't do anything because there no valid evidence.
(after showing them fingerprints, CCTV footage ect...)
all the police do is sit on their fat arse eating doughnuts and collecting £20million in speeding fines to buy more doughnuts!
wow, I'm thinking of purchase a manufactured home in bay area but this news really concerning me. I wonder what's happening to this mobile homes park today. I wish them lucks
Yup, I've seen this way to much!! They don't give a shit about anyone but themselves! Big investor GREED!

True! It still makes me angry. Let people live for God's sake. Life has gotten harder to manage, and for this to be happening is just wrong.

Don't do it. The park owners have you at their mercy and you'll be hostage to them with your home at stake.
