firstly Valkyrie Profile is made by both Tri-ace and Square Enix I do happen to be looking at the case right now. and if a game pleases the fans then it is a good game, it's the people who decide if a game is good not the game itself. but I'm not saying that just cuz everyone likes a game its automaticaly good or vice versa, course if you are the only one who likes a game then cool man it resonates with you and you keep on liking it no matter how many people don't!

In my honest opinion... tri-Ace > Square Enix.

I think it's only because tri-Ace is less known. Square Enix, due to KH, FF and some other series, have received this huge popularity. Now, they're just interested in pleasing the fans, and not in making real good-to-the-core games (like tri-Ace).

Final Fantasy is so fucking overrated, I've kind of had enough of the series. It's not even that great of a series, I mean there were like 3 or 4 that I hated and that was 2 (Original), 8, and 12 (Not counting 10-2, that's a spin-off), and the other ones were just ok. The real amazing one was..... haha, you thought I was gonna say 7, right? WRONG! My favorite is 9. Enough Final fucking Fantasy, bring more Valkyrie Profile and Shin Megami Tensei.

@smitc21 no it's not the best.... i can say that xenosaga, xenogears, and suikoden are the best RPG games of all times... you can also add lunar series and wild arms series on that note...

@Javitomanzano i disagree iv played MANY videogames including this which i did enjoy but final fantasy is defintly my personal favorite series and is if anything undervalued however my favorite videogame period is Okami 2nd Final fantasy 7 and 3rd Valkyrie profile silmeria and my favorite videogame character is Lezard who's not a final fantasy character (Lezard Valeth kicks ass and his voice actor Liam O'Brien is amazing)

It's the freaking most popular RPG (or at least J-RPG) video game in the world, with the most fans, most appreciations, most fansites, etc. If anything, something that popular can only be overvalued.

@TheGIRROX I have no idea what you're talking about. In Japan FF is the second most popular serie after DQ, worldwide it's the most popular one. A poll by Famitsu about "the 100 greatest video games) even showed peoples put FF10 as #1, FF7 as #3 and every single other numbered FF in the list.

FF is good, but it doesn't deserve half the praise it's been getting since FF10-2.

@gaki899 Well do you mean VP1 or VP2? They're quite different, but both are definitely worth playing if you like JRPGs. VP2 is hard thoughh (if you can even say that about an RPG) and requires you either to know what you're doing pretty well or to grind quite a lot. So either prepare to grind, use a boss FAQ to see the weaknesses and key skills or try out yourself till you find the correct strats and skills to use. VP2 is probably my favourite PS2 JRPG.

Just beat SMT Nocturne "maniacs" on hard mode so im all about hard JRPG's now.

If its anywhere near as good as Nocturne im thrilled :D

Leurs jeux sont désormais sans âmes, sans émotions, aucun jeu n'égale les sensations qu'on avait pu ressentir avec FF VII par exemple. Square Enix multiplie les spin-offs sans intêret, les suites inutiles, les jeux inutiles, et s'éloigne également du cadre du RPG (la preuve avec le rachat récent de Eidos).

Maintenant, tri-Ace se retrouve à travailler avec SEGA car Square Enix ne lui laissait pas assez de liberté dans le développement...

I loved the VP2 soundtrack. The itself was marvelous (for a sequel, at any rate), and it was fun revisiting a few of cities from the first game in better graphics. That, and thanks to this game we know who to blame for the creation of the Arianrod Labyrith from the first game =P Needless to say, Sha-kon was my least used einherjar.

Exactly. It's a shame they took multiplayer out of the series with Seiken Densetsu 4. I'm hoping those types of games will come back eventually. Or even in turn-based RPGs, it'd be nice if they found a way to let multiple people walk around and progress the story.
