Hey mikey, i'm having the biggest problem trying to upgrade my modded xbox to a 1 tb sata drive, i'm not new at this, ive been modding for a few years now, and have upgraded 6 xbox's hardrives with 500 gig ide drives and less with ease. I currently have a WD caviar that locks and unlocks through hdm with ease, but everytime i go to put it in the xbox it always comes up error 13 or `16, Ive also had to use three different types of ide to sata drive adapters. Any thoughts are appreciated.

@Impendingvirtue Make sure ethernet is plugged in to go system settings network and check if ip is correct go to settings check if login is xbox and pw is xbox the port should be 21.

@mikeyg6754 Hmm can't think of any at the moment I'm pretty pleased with its performance with all the emultaers I got on it and now I copied some of my favorite game to hard drive so I don't have to put them into cd drive so all and all I'm pleased and still glad I found your 2 videos on modding/upgrading the xbox and by the way even with the xbox running @ 733mhz and 64 mb of ram it can do just as good if not better them my desk and laptop, there 3 and 4 gb of ram them self's

I managed to get the eeprom off my harddrive during the modding but while installing the mod files the power cut out so I don't have the rest of the stuff. the C and E drive folder contents other than the eeprom I mean. Is there a template file I can download somewhere with the needed files from the C and E folders? or am I screwed?

For those who say they cannot find their eeprom file, do this. I'm going to assume you have the Evo-X dashboard as I do. Go into the dashboard screen and into System Configuration and then choose Backup. You will see a quick message saying "Backing up :)" and it will dissapear after a few seconds. FTP into your Xbox, go to C drive and you will see the folder called backup with the five files and the eeprom.bin. If you don't see it, hit refresh, it's there.

I dont have the backup folder in C however I do have a eeprom.bin file in E\Apps\Alt-Dashs\Evox\backup along with bios.bin, disk.bin, hddkey.bin, and hddinfo.txt

@nick93us You should be fine to use this... Just keep a backup in case it does not work... It sounds liike you were running evox when you did the eeprom backup, which is fine. So just use that

@Ahmed7193 You are lucky that I repair PS3s too... PS3 hard drives are smaller in size and they have a sata connection whereas xbox hard drives are IDE and are 3.5 inch in size as opposed to the PS3s 2.5 inch drive.

What you want is an ATA 100 (ultra) drive.

You need an FTP interface ... what about internet explorer or just plain explorer? just as good as any third party junk.

no way, pcs cannot just read those hard drives because they are a different format so you have to FTP it.

Yeah if you hook it up to a router you should be able to go into the router settings (192.168.0.1) () 192.168.1.1) IP depends on what kind of router you have and you should be able to find the local ip of the xbox in there probably under MAC address filtering.
