I got a stock 89 TPI 350 grey i bought out of the ghetto Down Town Grand Rapids, needs minimal work. Runs like a beast and the first time i had it out, i went to the gas station. While i was pulling out my view was blocked by some redneck and his propped up Toyota pickup, i almost got T-boned so i stomped the gas and went sideways down the street, i don't know how i managed to correct it right away the first time I ever did that, but boy i fell in love with that car. Very fun to drive.

why would you do that? you could have put your 305 tpi heads and intake system and had a nasty fuel injected 350, thats what i did, port the heads bigger valves cam am makes 430 hp easy

Very nice Firebird, I have a 89 Firebird Formula myself just got rebuilt 5.7L 350 put into it as well as a new tranny. Beautiful car, just wish mine was manual like your's :(

umm i say m/t because its better but i like a/t for like an every day driving but for racing i rather go for a m/t they are way better just what i think..

manual transmissions are proven on the track to ahve better times. a/t's only use 90% of their torque converter plus the gears are always moving which kinda slows it down a bit.. i saw an example once an auto v6 mustang ran .40 slower than a manual v6 stang of the same year.

@darklordspike : I must disagree with you on the automatics. True that you have more control of a car with a manual. That fact I will not dispute. 10 yrs ago I had an 89 Formula 350. Had stock 350 motor (slightly moded before I got it. never found out how) and stock 4 speed auto. despite that, the car and I were one. That was the only car I ever felt connected to. I hate that I had to sell it and would give almost anything to have it back.

good luck with that 5 speed. they werent made to handle much power. i would go with a turbo 350 for your next transmission wen the 5 speed blows. thank god for my 700r4 it handles my 350 like a dream even with 184000 miles on it. it still shifts hard.

"Never send a human to do a machine's job". That's why I prefer Auto rather than manual transmision.

A man could never stand a chance agaist machine's perfection. Besides, after 40+ years of Automatic existance, driving manual would be to me like having to turn on the engine with a crank from the front of the car. Unproductive!

That depends on the machine, buddy. I've seen Automatic Mustangs laugh out loud at manual ones, same bodywork, same horsepower but different results.

in daily use a modern manual shifted car has no chance to beat the same car with A/T.

On the paper there is still a slightly advantage for the M/T, but in typical take over manouvres you just need to kick down while the M/T owner still is looking for the right gear...

You're dreaming, bro! 95% of drivers driving an automatic would be able to beat someone driving the exact same car but as a manual, simply because you can not shift a manual shifter as fast.

Forcing the engine would only cause it to eventually blow up, and the guy with the A/T would be laughing at you for six months.
