Based on the size of your collection, you seem to have a decent budget for buying train gear, so why not buy some more track to give your nice collection some running room? Your Daylight would probably look great on wider curves and some long straight runs.
If you are bored one day, just snap the body off one of your broke engines and start tinkering with it. The problem could be anything from a broke wire to a screwed up motor. Just take your time and eventually, you could be great at repairing locomotives.
@fishinghuntingtrain I am making a layout, and I did make a video of it not to long ago, but I haven't touched it in a while so there's nothing to report on.
@NScaleRRFan After we had the house fire the people in charge of the clean up didn't take very good care of my trains, this is how they looked after I got them back. I'll admit they weren't very good before but they were better than than how they look here.
@ThePPPTrainAndCarFan The fire investigators said it was out old stove, while me and my mom where out at a theme park our stove decided to start on fire and burn everything in our kitchen. The fire burned itself out shortly after that due to a lack of oxygen but had destroyed our kitchen, left a layer of soot on everything, and had killed our dog "Kobe" through carbon dioxide inhalation. When we came home everything on the outside looked normal, so we got a nasty surprise when we walked inside.
1. Do yourself a favour and use Bachmann E-Z Trak with nickel-silver rail (and grey/gray? plastic base). Needs less cleaning than steel rail (black base).
2. Hope you've converted to knuckle couplers by now.
3. Fixing non-DCC locos is pretty easy - you just need current paths in and out. Clean all contacts, check all connections, make sure motor is turning, check brushes on commutator. Google it if any of the above doesn't mean anything to you.
trainman122 can i hae the trains that dont work? at least i'll idle them in the track to look like they actually mean business you know what i mean right? so if i could have themi will give you my full adress to where to send them......thats if you say yes though
@trainman122 ah ah ah i didnt finish my sentence i meant to say at least i will idle them in the track that i will never have :( because no one has a heart to give me some trains or at least give me track i dont have money i admit it and no one cant even give me one so can you at least give me the conrail or the chessie system? i seware on my life i will take care of them and send you messages of how they are doing or tell you that it is very goodin shape so plz lemme have one :(
@trainman122 or at least tell dmncau the train showoff to let me have some of his trains plz i beg you
and try watching my vids theyre pretty awesome and i could suprise all of us train lovers with tons of videos of trains passing by the house cause the tracks are really close to the house and tons of csx, conrail, bnsf, santa fe,canadian national, and others pass by so watch my vids sometimes look for them
Did you go to the train shop. They coude fix the engines that broke in the fire and they could look at the Chessie System and see why it never worked.
the chessie motor( if its the same one im thinking of) only needs new points ... mine did the same thing its got two small points inside held in by tiny springs... dont loose the springs...unreplacable hope that works
@TrackMaster555 The body does come off easily but I wouldn't know what to do with the motor to get it fixed, I just need to get one of my friends to take a look at it.
@jarrod989 Actually its the opposite with me. I love Knuckle Couplers and have no problem finding trains with them. In fact I recently bought a steam locomotive that was made some time ago and it has a knuckle coupler on its tender. I'm also going to convert my train cars to knuckle couplers. Horn hook couplers don't hold together well on bumps either.
Your 4449 does the exact same thing that my steamer did before it broke. I had Power Loc track and the turns were just way to much. In my opinion Power Loc track and I guess Easy Track are very similar. Then I got Atlas True-Track, I think it's alot easier on my engines.
Your Daylight doesn't like it (most likely) because your turn radius might be a little to much. I had bought a Steamer that was very similar to the Daylight and it would not maintain speed through a corner because of the radius. I would recommend a 48" or a 60" radius for that engine. looks like you have a 36"
@kittycraft I think that's a C40-8W. I'm not sure what the D means but railroad's have a tendency to put the locomotives model name under the cab-side road number and have it messed up like that. I wish I knew why..
@trainman122 The D is for the standard name: Dash 8/9. Plus, GE said that I guess to make it more organized. Also, that Amtrak is a F9 & the CN's are FP7's.
nice dash 9 and hi hood. I love the dash 9's an the Norfolk Southern railway runs through the town I live near so ive seen those hi hoods at a bridge that goes over a four way intersection
Have you tried cleaning the wheels to some of the engines that dont work? With the Acela, there is a switch for either using the pantograph or the rails as power. Maybe its switched the wrong way? If not any of those, have you removed the shell to see if anything looks unusual? To fix the F unit, go buy some Atlas Conductive lube and apply it to the contact points. You'll have to take off the shell to do that.
the fire kind of gave them a weathered look which is cool, but for someone going by Trainman122 he doesn't know a lot about the engines or the name of the couples lol just saying, but each their own!!!
@trainman122 well thats a good thing lol I wasn't trying to be rude, was just pointing it out!!! Trust me I don't remember everything about mine and would probably have trouble if I was put in the spotlight lol In some ways I pretty much kind of stuck my own foot in my mouth here lol
Cool collection. Do yourself a favour and refit all your locos and rollingstock with "that kind of coupler" (preferably Kadee or at the very least, Bachmann E-Z Mate Mk 2), so you can do delayed uncoupling. The "I don't know what that is" Amtrak Phase 3 loco looks like an F-7 by Athearn - I have two, an older one and a relatively recent one.
@firelitebg12L The acela locomotive is broken. All I can tell you is that it was made by Bochmann, came with a dummy engine, and was $120 when I bought it.
I have a track maintenance car and what went on the open space that is on yours what a trackless tiny black caboose.
