Do you think it would be possible to build a similar design without using wood decking? I'm under the impression it could work, spacing the inner skeleton/"rails" about 2in or less apart. The main concern of mine is delamination, but I have a strong gut feeling it would work. Any insight?
@RoyStewart Essentially, fiberglass. I want to create a very similar wood frame without decking, then glass it. The idea is that with enough of the inner supports, a deck wouldn't be necessary. Though, that would cause concern for delamination. If a harder, solid surface is required for decking, I've considered using plexiglass. I'm designing a 7'8"x22" eggy funboard. I plan to have 84 crossbeams of 1/4" width. I'm considering to build a small prototype to test *(which I'm thinking more about )
