  • After i finish with the lesson, i can't help but ask myself: What on earth did I learn from that

  • wow this clown is awful just saying

  • hes pulling a tsrts on us

  • @RobDZeppelin Nice... I wonder how many others won't catch that little inside joke...

  • different shirt and guitar while explaining and playing...

  • Awesome :)

  • good stuff,, nice sound :)

  • nice nice

  • Please slow number two down!!

  • @mordy91 hahaah rite

  • It's funny because they must have recorded him talking all in one take because when he plays the licks, the guitar changes to like a tele or something.

  • notice his shirt color...

  • @BABURAOIU and guitar

  • thanks for sharing

  • I love it. But doesn't he have a red shirt and a black guitar when he does the licks?

  • sure. so for what he holds that guitar (the black one)? ;D

  • would the second scale hes playing be F# dorian? since the root note is F#?, minus scale degrees 3 and 7?

  • A good guitar player can make the pentatonic scale sound amazing.

You only suck if think technical proficiency makes a player sound good.

  • Sooooo fucking true bro i love you

  • @bobbyip even though technical proficiency is key to knowing how to improvise, you don't have to play fast to be good, I would rather hear one right note than 100 terrible notes.... i enjoy many genres of music

  • Go Mullet Man!

  • thats the cooolest lesson ive ever seen

    thanks

  • 5 *****

  • Colored!? What year is it? 1970?

  • No, it's stoneage

  • The guy that is talking is not the same guy playing all of the licks and scales.

  • No. he is 8 feet tall

  • is it me or the guitar is small and cute

    lol

  • For the record this lesson was recorded a decade or so ago. the mullit was a guitar playing requisite........The fact that it's on youtube now slays me. Anyone concerned should know I no longer sport a mullit and regularly see a therapist about my past. Now try paying more attention to the guitar lesson.....

  • "Let's Jam" you silly mofuggas ! YEAH!

  • hello ! I am rocco!I think you Peter need a new hair cut, because we life in the 21st centuary!jk!good lesson

  • Peter ;)

  • i dont agree with teaching funk music its not what you play its how you play it yeno

  • that second lick is cool but idk where to get that tab

  • Fogel

  • great mullit any one seen the liptonice tea advert

  • great lesson

  • man peter vogl is the most awesome guy in the universe

  • LOL

  • this is stupid..its supposed 2 be beginer lesson hes goin 2 fast..

  • blues ain't for "begginers" as you say, you must have played guitar all over 3 or 4 years at least to know the basics he's using, if he had to teach you from the very very begining of the scales and licks stuff...he'd need over 5.678.987 vids to do that

  • Check out my funky E shit....

  • lmfao its not even him playing! look at the shirt color the guy playing is in gray and he is wearing red

  • yeah you're right! it is impossible that he has 1st recorded the talking vids, and then the music ones on different days! THAT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO DO!

    (irony)

    think before you post.

  • you obviously dont know what irony means so ill save you the definition and give you a hint instead, dont use it in this situation. i think the word you were looking for was sarcasm.

    think before you post.

  • go get a good dictonary,u saved yourself the definition, cause you obviously don't know what this word means, take a look at the word irony, it is a synonym for the word sarcasm wich both have the definition

"witty language used to convey insults or scorn"

both can be used on the same context and situations

with more synonims as: satire, caustic remark...

btw, copying what I said was pathetic dude

    be more original.

be sure to know what your talking about before you post.

  • Sarcasm is "verbal irony". Usually you can use "irony" when you could also use sarcasm, but it doesn't work the other way, and using the word sarcasm would at least have been more appropriate.

Satire is a completely different (but related) concept.

In any case it is a pretty pointless thing to argue about, but I thought I'd reply, since both of you repeatedly seem to get it wrong.

  • Funk E Mullet he has there.

  • haha nice 1

  • bahahah :D

  • this is helping, be cool for a solo

  • Peter - you are doing a great job in these videos. Really giving me a new perspective - especially with the bebop scales and licks! Thanks so much!

  • Good lessons! Did you notice that he has a different haircut in every video? haha..

  • :O it is true he is magic or something!

  • I love how fast he changes guitar :O lol

  • And shirt. :D

  • It's good, but the last one, riff #3 sounds to be a bad timing, it just doesnt seem to fit.

  • Because it's about the scale, and how it sounds over the back-up music, PV doesn't always focus on the timing as much as you might like. Guess it's up to us to choose the timing.

    Goofyduke

  • Haha! Good video.

If you look at 01:53 you will notice that the guy with the black guitar is showing his middle finger :) (ROFL)

  • He's not playing any chords at 01;53... just holding the guitar (and showing his finger)

  • And, who cares. Grow up.

  • at 33 seconds, he changes guitar and shirt... and then back again! whats up with that? lol

  • If I remember correctly the closeups had to be reshot because the tape was lost or damaged.

  • @GodofShredding that mullet hair..also combs up nicely into a steven seagal type japanes tribute mop...i like it..!!!!

  • @GodofShredding

We have met Superman dude =)

  • Are you starting again, you stupid bitches, do really think that anybody on youtube wil be happy with is sad discusion.

If you want to both nag a bout dates and years just send eachother wikipedia links and look at the real fact.

    CHILDRENS MUSIC WAS THE FIRST

  • Knock off the flames!

  • That first lick is awesome

  • lol at 11 secs A fuunkyy little tune!!!!!!!!!

    lmao!

  • what's so funny ?

  • hmmm kinda small guitar

  • Coolio!

  • Guys, remember first there was blues, then there was jazz, then came rock and then there was funk!

This seems just a very basic lesson.

  • And what does this lesson have to do with funk??? :)

Funk exists from early '60s, so does rock...

  • @ ramidak0s: I mean in the end it all comes from the same roots, Indeed it's not true rock came before funk, it's all blues that developped in a different way.

So thats what this lesson has to do with funk.

  • Yeeees, it's aaaall blues!!! :)

  • But I have to admit... it's a very boring lesson! :)

  • No my dear,

It's a fact that blues was before jazz. Jazz came from blues, later a bit combined with latin influeces and stuff. I also thought for years that it was the other way around but it's not.

And yes you have a nice knowledge of years and names but about this history please do some more research.

  • @DarkDutchman Actually, Blues and Jazz more or less evolved simultaneously (Especially if you consider Ragtime to be the earliest incarnation of jazz, which many music historians do.)

The REAL fact is that there is no one true defining moment for either genre, like all music... They evolved over time, and overlap considerably. Jazz borrows a LOT from blues though, so its easy to say that one came before the other. But, consider jazz fusion; Does that make rock a forerunner to all of jazz?

  • @DarkDutchman Jazz definitely came from Blues.

  • you're fucking retarded!

  • MY GOD! blues came way before jazz!! it was brought in and fused with music from african slaves in the deep south during the slave trade period as early as the turn of the centuary(1900)!!! from blues you get rock etc Jazz was a mix of blues and latin influences and also the cuban style 'son' music and the clave rhythm. From that we get funk, salsa and reggae, all with syncopated rhythm...learn your music history!

  • jazz came around from when the slaves came away from their hme country the women wore jasmiine and hey remember home from jasmine and now shortened to jazz. blues is from releasing the stress from everyday life

  • honestly, you only need to know one thing when considering music history after the classical era... colored people started it... blues, jazz, funk, reggae, and even rock... every mainstream genre was pioneered by either africans or african americans... and why? because they got soul. the very heart and root of all music. this is not a race issue, its just cold hard fact. for every white player you can name in any genre, i can name 3 BETTER players. I wish i had soul =/

  • And black regions, particularly the whole continent of Afrixa, has had much more problems than the rest of the world... I see a pattern between struggles and depth in music.

  • No funk here!

  • uuummmm i swear i can hear overdrive how is this funk wot a bell-end!!!!lol

  • the guitar backing track has way more groove than you, man thats like a scale excercise of something

  • i think thats the point man, cmon its blates obv this if for guitar retards

  • that is such a bad lesson lol he doesnt show you how to do the licks hes just like here figure this shit out

  • It goes with the tab on their web site.

  • whatever happened to ravens revenge?

  • what the hell? the first part where he says he's showing you a lick, it looks more like he's just showing you a normal practice scale

  • wow...

getting funk tips from a guy with a mullet...

    didn't expect that one!

  • hey man this is not funk

  • Sounds FUNK to me!Thanx for the lesson. And the posting!

  • This guy is such a stimp-a-lope....lmao, but...

he knows how to play guitar better than I do.

  • thats blues!!

  • That is for the blues -_-

  • nice but isnt this more blues?

i though funk was all about the mute and short sharp tunes
