  • Swellegant!

  • supposedly, that's young Eddie Heywood a the piano here! (some sources spell it "Hayward"; is this really the same person?!?)

Who ever it is, they are playing some damn fantastic piano on this record! When he gets up-tempo and starts striding at 1:57, it's really hot!

    THANKS!!!

  • You are correct. He is credited as "Eddie Heywood" right on the label.

  • Turns out this is Eddie Heywood SENIOR, and the famous pianist is Eddie Heywood JUNIOR, his son. I just recently found this out.

Thanks again for posting this fantastic recording!

  • roarin' meow!! Sippie's hot~ (so's the kitty)

  • Isn't he the love of her life... anyways, I love this!!

  • que genial

  • Any chance you can do Sippie Wallace's 'Dead Drunk Blues' OK 8499, recorded 05/06/27? It has a marvelous Louis Armstrong cornet solo.

  • Could you please share that entire album with us please...Thanks....Cute pussy cat : )

  • Omg this is speaking to my spirit...Thanks for this one....I never heard of her.

  • Thanks for sharing a legend

  • porkchop-The majority of old classic blues (to use the common designation for the band accompanied female blues of people like sippie and bessie smith,) HAS been transfered and digitalized. Unfortunetly there is a trade off between "cleaning up" old recordings and lossingthe dynamics that make this music powerful. most sound restoration projects try to walk a middle ground between noise reduction and dynamic integrity. there have been many releases and compilations of both these artists' output.

  • My question is: How can I be 70 years old and this is the first time I've heard Miss Sippee? A true blues legend. She needs to be in the Music Hall of Fame. This is get-down dirty blues and this old woman love it!!

  • What is sad that no one is taking these old songs and redigitizing them. I have some old Bessie Smith and am trying to find somewhere I could rerecord it with all the scratches and static removed.

  • if you heard (or bought) the Mercury Blues and Rhythm Story (1944-1954) box set you would have heard of her.

After WWII, she kinda "fell off" on the charts.

  • I agree. Thank you for your comment. Peace.

  • Sippie is one of the almost forgotten greats!
